Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Adopt the pace of Nature: her secret is patience.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

A truly palpable calm as the beach rush dwindles and activated swells are in repose. The calmest of airs in new morning light as the day is greeted with temps of 51F and mountaintop mist. No morning hustle as only the dedicated few unfold from their perches to put eyes upon the sea and neoprene over bent joints. Rising tide has reached the apex and still plenty of beach remains accessible. The rubbing of wax upon fiberglass surfaces are the only sounds heard at this early hour.

CHANNEL: The only port of interest though early incoming was the better window of stoke. Now a bit flooded and full which has pushed action well inside along the domain of fishing vessels and shore casters. What breakers exist are profoundly smooth and suited for logging at a leisurely pace on par with a nice afternoon stroll.

PATCH: Swell initiatives unfulfilled though SW monitors indicate undulations. Tide levels remain optimum with rocks neatly tucked away but deliverance has failed and those staring are in wait, wait, wait mode. Any presumption of vast improvement will be considered fake news and roundly ignored.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To be happy you must be your own sunshine.” - C.E. Jerningham

Ethereal iridescent gray creeping in nooks and crannies, bringing moisture within coating all it touches. Deserted parking lot vibes at an all time high, as white stripes highlight missing vehicles wandering elsewhere. Loud silence stretching far and wide with a slow motion feeling of solitude, for footsteps down the ramp the only sound for miles. Abandoned sandy shore with no tracks to see as one is the magic number this morning.

CHANNEL: A beacon of hope, the groin sign stands tall among still water not moving. No ebb or flow with the out-going WNW tide and no wind to ripple the surface. Rock skipping, the only cause to effect the oceans mirrored surface.

PATCH: Flat, Plano, Plat, Isicaba, Opala, Catt, Fflat, Xambop.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” - Winnie The Pooh

Pre-alarm awakenings as body clocks are slow to adjust to new standard timing. No need to hit snooze, an uncommon occurrence for a Monday, as we head into the week anew. Foggy veiled curtains shield reflective light from above, while misty droplets dampen walking faces. Peddling forward with friends in tow, cruising towards the edge of solid ground, friendly faces appear from depths of watery gray. Gloved morning waves and bright smiles as reunions are made. Morning chatter from atop of the wall as we settle into fall.

CHANNEL: Hidden secrets left unknown as morning fog hides the answers. WNW swell slow and low as the ocean laps the sandy shore without hurry. Cool and humid, temps begin at 52 reaching 70 once the burn off begins. For now, bundle up, pour another hot beverage and watch and wait.

PATCH: Cloaked in gray mystery, only the pelicans are curious enough to take flight through the unknown. Sleek and silent, hovering inches above, the squad navigates on sense alone. A final tip of a wing, swooping left, they disappear gracefully into the abyss.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The best path between two points is upside-down, between, then inside out and around again.” - Lulu

Golden hour morning sun rises singing salutations of warmth early, as we fall back in time. Sixty minutes more, gifted once a year, signaling fall has truly arrived. Crispy foliage brown and orange in color crunching under foot, the streets remain calm and empty traveling to shore. Through the gate, reaching a sandy bottom, nature travels at her own pace with the beat of her own drum. The dark blue surface glistens in full sun with little movement back or fourth as land crabbers cast another line.

CHANNEL: Four amigos sit still in waiting, pondering the meaning of life outside Channel proper. No movement to push forward and currents remain still, for the NW swell is no where to be found. Fishing boats glide by to fetch planted crab pots far beyond the break for open season is calling. Trailing wakes cut the surface while the final four bob behind from the only source of movement.

PATCH: Pelicans and seagulls gather creating intricate patterns on the oceans mirrored surface waiting and watching for the breakfast buffet to open. A single dive bomb, sends ripples into motion as others follow suit head first to fill bellies.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Blue are the life giving waters taken for granted, that quietly understand.” -Jimi Hendrix

Beams of light burn through all of the atoms that make up space and atmosphere to meet you here. Embrace the warmth on your face and the glare in your eye, for it has traveled from light-years away just to say good morning. Crisp morning chill has not the upper hand, but still lingers at 60F. Blue waters are left almost empty as the tide and swell are not getting along at the moment. There’s been no feud, only disagreement, leaving the surf in limbo.

CHANNEL: Hungry boat ramp fishermen cast their lines into the sea of endless opportunity. Chanel hunters find no sustainable gatherings for survival. Mid tide keeps the gulls afloat, with little movement for disturbance. Maybe incoming will bring upwelling, and plenty of food for everyone. Fish soup for breakfast, fish soup for lunch, and fish soup for dinner.

PATCH: Stretch out your arms, farther, farther, farther. Can you reach it yet? The world has its palms open for you. When you receive it’s gifts, turn around and pass it along. We are all here on the same terrifying and beautiful ride.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Take as a gift whatever the day brings forth.” - Horace

An uneven cool settles over the village of destiny as the mercury falls to 39F at this early hour. Ghoul, goblin and ghost have retreated back to their lairs and only the remainders mark their existence. The promise and presence of sun begins to warm the airs and the clarity shines through all crystals. If your plans involve suiting and booting you will likely be rewarded with slides not of consequence but of reality. NW swell continues to provide and abide but at varying levels upon the scale of height and power. None is too formidable and all are expressed upon the fuller tides which only give way in the evening, darkest hours.

CHANNEL: A meandering stream descends concrete and rebar towards active waters and promises of stoke. Unspectacular yet provisional shapes, slides and rides are happening in real time. Mind the gap, raise your flap and find your line for they are available and sun drenched.

PATCH: Far reaches and inside breeches are all foaming and careening to the bitter end with loggers and paddle grippers staking their claims. Early activity levels indicate a lasting potential with tidal swings not factoring into the equation. There is no time but now seekers, as the present presents itself to you.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance.” - George Bernard Shaw

A haze of consequence parts as morning beams begin to fill the void. A settled countenance as routines return to normal though rumblings linger. Temp reaching to 54F with light NE air puffs of warmth setting the stage for an alluring Fall day. Still formatted with westerly swells of modest proportions and tides mostly full until the evening. Glass and foam are free to roam and no specific direction seems the proper answer in the early hours. Boo!

CHANNEL: A fine time for quiet contemplation and meditation before a peaceful entry into the brine. Low tide has just past and while sand stretches for great lengths there is depth where needed. Few shadows emerge from the distance and most shape and form is congregated inside along the standing room bars. Outside roaming may luck you into an expectant left but that is more the outlier than the norm.

PATCH: Yes there are faint traces of a SW swell upon the seas and daytime hours are when the experience takes shape. Patch stalwarts clinging to residual stoke as the seasonal clock begins to signal a change in location. Not a thing of beauty but that remains in the eye of the beholder. When there is nothing left to burn…

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.” - Aaron Rose

A morning of rejuvenation and blessings as we try to live past, present and future all in one moment. The early light of dawn fortified by restored electricity leads us down the path of the new normal. Take stock, give thanks and with emerging hope greet a day of new beginnings. Skies are clear and temp lingers at 55F. A westerly swell the main contributor of stoke though looking a bit wind-tattered like the Dude’s famous rug. Tide just bottoming out though not too low and the incoming momentum may carry some positive mojo for the seekers in limbo.

CHANNEL: Groomed sands on the lower tide smooth as far as one can see. Early tracks dissolve at the entrance to the sea though the lone slider fails to materialize within view. The doorways of enlightenment through which to pass may require the patience and perseverance of the Jedi and just a dash of luck for good measure.

PATCH: Late season S swell yet to fully bloom and may require time to mature as the tide rises. Deceptive to the naked eye though water exists if exploratory efforts are made. Yards of casual stoke are possible though not entirely probable unless one aligns their chi with the stars above.

“Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict.” - William Ellery Channing

Open for business under candlelight conditions and only able to run $$ CASH $$ transactions. We are here to help you find some stoke but are limited due to PG&E emergency shut downs.

Smoke tinted skies as we arise to greet a day of challenges. Preparing for unseen forces while those around us emanate a supreme calm. Temp of 49F and silent air with skies radiant and blue. We look to the sea and out towards the future, then back to today and again out to the future. Forget the past as it holds no relevant claim on this moment and can serve as mind memory upon later introspection. Take note and heed that swells are mild and generally from the W and therefore serving limited portions of stoke soup this day.

CHANNEL: Golden sun breaks over the ridge to illuminate low level lefts off firmly entrenched sandbars. A half dozen seekers of slides navigate the field while others plot a course for fishing endeavors and paddling excursions. Truly a day open and welcoming to all. The only constant is change and a stubborn desire for serenity.

PATCH: Paddles, paddles, paddles everywhere and yet not a drop to drink. The question begged is answered in the negative though rights were purveyed upon the incoming tide last evening and enjoyed by a related duo. Maybe it was a hazy dream though the smiles still exist.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Silence and solitude, the soul’s best friends.” - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A calm to soothe worried hearts as the omnipresent winds of yesterday are gone. Morning temps a more seasonal and reasonable 54F and the skies are clear and full of rays. Swell on the downswing while tide is on the way up making for an unresponsive sea. Let your existence be known as you enter the brine with an expert eye and grom’s exuberance. Remember, you are just one small being among many but can be a shining star.

CHANNEL: Sherbet skies that tell no lies but with the truths come consequences. More silent than in the past hours but stoke can be mined and even enjoyed with tempered expectations. A delicate left in the early light and rising tide is suitable for logs of length and breadth. As the tide continues to change so will the breakers in a come and go fashion that will require extra effort to extract slides.

PATCH: A season of change with less swell directed the way of our land of the clam Patch. Small portions of froth and foam may provide the metaphysical nourishment your soul requires but the growing tide will soon snuff out options. Floating upon calmer waters may cure some ills but the real medicine may not be dispensed until the afternoon hours.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Happiness often sneaks through a door you didn’t know you left open.” - John Barrymore

An uncommon warmth fueled by heavy inland winds has temp up to 77F and debris and dust covering all surfaces. Obstacle course to navigate as one walks to the beach but following the goat parade will yield a path of righteousness. Parking is full as a byproduct of yesterday and may not be justified presently. Taking stock upon walls of concrete and stone, the seas are conflicted and require some time and centered contemplation before entering.

CHANNEL: Savaged seas and ravaged peaks as wind and tide overwhelm swell. Stoke still raging among the faithful and younger generation as they freely frolic in spitting waters with little rhyme and no reason. If and when the gusts cease we may find periods and pockets of projections worth exploring.

PATCH: Abandoned early as the outer seascape is prime target for the howling zephyrs. The slightest of swell from the SW cannot penetrate the weight of the high tide nor resist the laceration of the current winds that blow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” - Napoleon Hill

Dawn breaks under streaky skies as rays of clean light shine down upon a craggy coastline. As we gaze out upon breakers forming we are reminded to inhale the beauty that surrounds and be thankful for all that we have. The zephyrs remain calm for now and temps initiate at 50F. Parking lots serve as bedroom, green room and dressing room for the seeker in transition. Swells mainly from the W finding niches upon which to work though sporadically with the growing tide.

CHANNEL: A crew approaching double digit status attempts to mine stoke on the outside portion of the bar, and on occasion striking silver, if not gold. The Fall apparatus is not yet in full swing but tastes are given from time to time. As the group spreads to find the shape of their liking some indulge in chaos while others luck into rides of merit. Which do you seek, and which will you find?

PATCH: A reason to smile, though not rejoice, for the lone sentinel who enjoys the morning SERENITY. Other pilgrims pass without notice as they don’t possess the patience or wisdom of a monk. Gunga Gunga Galunga.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside you.” - Deepak Chopra

Ridge crest lines etched in bright blue stone as the sun rises high to begin the day. Drenched in a yellow blanket, sand steams to dry while the ocean recedes towards the horizon. A working mans boat, battling against white water soup, pushes through currents traveling far to cast lines, as beach walkers with four legged friends intently watch. Post card scenes left and right, hard to choose which one to capture.

CHANNEL: NW swell here to stay, as sun reflections dance on the surface. Waves rolling in ankle to shin height, with a mellow push forward. White water crumbles all across Channel proper foaming from the out-going current tide. No paddlers, standing or prone only the seals are left to play in the field. High is low and low is high, making the time to play now or later.

PATCH: Silky pauses stretch into minutes before any movement comes forward. Patience is practiced, for one lone warrior sits in morning solitude meditating before the time is right. An extra paddle and deep breath of belief is all that it takes to step closer to enlightenment.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To hear, one must be silent.” - Ursula K. Le Guin

Morning commuters of the deer variety, direct traffic in zig-zag formations slowly through town while the sun shines on. Chilly beginnings at 45, nipping at fingers and toes as exhales turn into white puffs from walkers by. School picks-ups well underway while parking is plenty with only a few overnight campers hanging on to what was the weekend. Down the ramp and over the wall, the journey is calm and familiar, a peaceful washing of the soul. From the highest lookout, gazing out to sea a still moment overcomes once the decision has been made.

CHANNEL: Through squinted eyes covered single handed, the sun’s brilliance blinds those who try to sneak a peek. NW swell back to mellow yellow as waves meander in the knee height with little rush to get to shore. High and low tide have decided to mimick each other throughout the day with little ebb and flow to make a difference. Go now or wait later, the results will be the same.

PATCH: A sloshy beginning, middle and end to the start of a beautiful day. Lines appear tall before slipping away creating confusion to the gang of four paddling in circles on where to begin. Basking in the sun, the realization hits, this is where they were meant to be.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than they seek.” - John Muir

Golden yellow highlights creeping over and through the hills while cotton candy clouds float onward. The slow wake up begins, stretching with creaking bones chilled out as temps begin at 44. Visitors roll in only to find the no vacancy sign has already been posted. Grouped together, they walk to shore to catch a glance before the change out dance begins. Smaller in size then days past, yet still some nuggets to be found if you know the right spot. Get to know your neighbor at arms reach and remember your safety circle.

CHANNEL: A large gathering in the center of Channel proper welcomes the rising sun as dawn breaks a new day. Much smaller in size, the W swell is relaxed this AM with waves crumbling in the knee height on the sets. Less ocean motion creating an easier paddle out, though lacking in the energy one yearns for. Join the masses for there’s always room for more.

PATCH: Traffic signals running high as stand up and prone positioned paddlers share one tiny space. Out on the horizon, things may not be what they seem, for those who wait inside slide forward to their feet first. Bigger isn’t always better.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Macrame is cool, it’s like getting barreled.” - Daniel Herz

Purples and pinks, blues and greens as we watch from above and allow the hues of the day to unfold. A seemingly endless parade of seekers descends upon our twisted version of paradise and the chosen few stare into heaving waters. Not an ounce of parking exists or remains so you’re either here or attempting to be and therefore already too late. Some prime shapes and reason to smile as swells are now both from the W and packing Fall energy and length. Pursuing slides will not be a solitary endeavor this day so take a moment to come to terms with this very fact. Digest the scene then decide what action is best.

CHANNEL: A multitude of visible silhouettes in the early hour as the bar is providing much more than suds and conversation. Though one may require a keen eye to find the slides of quality, rest assured they exist and are being enjoyed. For every pitching and clampdown an open barrel spins freely. As is always the case, space is the place and the tides and wind will ultimately determine all outcomes.

PATCH: Again rush hour and prime drive time has fallen upon the Patch as riders and sliders find themselves on shapes of merit. Water levels keep the vibes flowing with not too much or too little available. If you prefer the outside it will deliver the stoke you seek. Inside rights running freely over the sand are there for the taking. Make it yours and make it matter. There will likely not be quiet moments this day so inhale once deeply and soak it in.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” - Lewis Carroll

Another morning with the aroma of Fall but hiding heavy summer vectors as the sun emerges and tempers rise. Neoprene has been stretched over shoulders and all manner of watercraft has been removed from rack and bag while others continually circle the block before spilling over onto Wharf Road. There is, alarmingly, much reason to make your way into the abyss this day but do not expect the journey to be solitary as overcrowding issues are already making themselves known. Come - be part of the problem or the solution but join the surf frenzy at your own accord.

CHANNEL: A baker’s dozen and growing is on Occupy status currently with hoots of joy and sounds of protest lingering in the air. Neither endangered sea creatures nor rent control is the subject at hand but rather who gets to take advantage of the sandbar’s bounty as it releases its payload along the length of the encampment. In a logical world there would be opportunities for all but that may be wasted hope or wishful thinking.

PATCH: Light haze upon the sea does not deter the masses seemingly rushing like commuter train riders suddenly freed from the crush. Outside disjointed and slightly unruly rights reveal themselves to the AM shift and there is a literal scramble to be in the mix. Morning tide drops in an attempt to smooth the rough edges. If one uses the third eye to guide with calmer intent there are pockets to be filled under less feverish conditions.
