Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Better to be wise by the misfortunes of others than by your own.” - Aesop

A morning for redemption and new beginnings under skies slowly turning from grey, to pink, to blue. Initiated temps start at 55F and the wind inhales and holds - for now. There is reason to rejoice as one looks to the seas as established swells hold form and tide collaborates. The dedicated and disturbed seek early solace and smiles upon slides of merit and consequence. The low tide will not negatively impact outcomes and if the winds remain light the green light will shine all through the day.

CHANNEL: The heart does sing to view shapes of caliber just outside the marker, our stalwart watcher. A peeling left holds court with a smoothness not seen recently. Some do rear up and clamp with sudden notice and heavy crash of foam and froth. To pick quality and lengthy ride over size is the hallmark of a learned soul.

PATCH: The tumble and rumble from the past 24 hours refuses to retreat though size has dropped a click or more. True devotees have taken notice and spare no moment to suit up. More shifted to the outside regions under the morning lower tides, but slides are being had that inspire stoke and bliss. This will surely be a place where bodies will gather throughout the day, so be aware of your neighbor, and against all evidence to the contrary, hope they do the same for you.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Life is about using the whole box of crayons.” - RuPaul

Though our mercury reads 55F it feels a deception or illusion as the skies are damp and overcast and the winds blow early. Pollen swirls and all eyes water so visuals remain blurry at best. SW swell remnants remain and seem cause for a gathering by the number of the suited and booted heading to the water’s edge. Incoming tide and a slight calming of the airs would go a long way to improve the sea’s offerings which are active though of impure form and quality.

CHANNEL: The scent of salt. An early and oppressive grey. A forlorn and windswept beach. Those in search of nourishment from the water are spread along the visible corridor. First there is a wave, then there is no wave, then there is. Choose wisely.

PATCH: The breakers remain occupied by members of the paddle tribe and those using their own two arms and hands for propulsion. Shapes of consequence are few and far between - if at all. Keep and eye towards the future and latter part of the day if the early contributions are sub-standard. Tomorrow is always another day in paradise, or not.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Winners……are not those who never fail, but……those who never quit.” - Banksy

Fluffy cotton clouds holding hands welcoming yellow spotlight sunshine as dawn breaks. Big blue yonder stretching far and wide as singing feathered friends dip and dive. Temps climbing to 65 with starting points of 55; no umbrellas needed. Meandering up and over, parking open for those who are in the taking. Morning conversations with friendly faces float on by carrying on without an awkward pause and endless smiles. From atop the wall, a picture perfect photo one ingrained to carry on in memory forever. The first Monday on a Tuesday of summer.

CHANNEL: Long periods of silence while sitting and waiting for the NW swell to roll in the right direction. Waves clocking in the knee high range, with a tiny bit of push and quick finish. Seadrift side slightly more consistent with less waiting time. The pole is the position and long sleds are needed if you want to play the game.

PATCH: Two strangers whom have never met, hoping to run into the same friend with everything in common. A quiet language, not written nor spoken, yet understood in body and soul. The slow build up, following expanded radio silence releases the white noise sound while bending at the knee.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” - George Washington

Today we are thankful for all of our fallen heroes, and grateful for their services. Show a little love today and do what you can to lend a helping hand. There’s a ruckus among us and she’s bangin’ and slamin’, all the while town is quiet, the wind has stopped, and the water glasses off. Step outside and take a deep breath, feel the mist on your face and wave to the partially foggy sky because it may be here to stay. Lots of beach exists for all your Memorial Day needs, but be wary of the late hours of the afternoon when the water returns. Holiday camping in full effect, and all spots are taken.

CHANNEL: Smooth sailing but little action during long lulls. The lack of wind and semi still water allows for pondering and remembrance. Neighborly conversations fill the atmosphere but do not echo beyond the sand. Better luck at another moment in time, but evidence of morning stoke is obvious in those who have returned to shore.

PATCH: Getting in early is a slippery slope, as it often leads to double, and even triple sessions days. Be cautious of your intuition and take advantage of every remaining moment of morning. The prime is quickly passing, but the day has more in store. Keep an eye out for a missing waist high glassy breaker, it has not been spotted since 7:30am

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“But never have I been a blue calm sea. I have always been a storm.” - Stevie Nicks

Dawn breaks revealing windy and gray atmospheric disturbance; a dark yang to yesterday’s sunny ying. Temps hover at 54 climbing to an afternoon high of 59 with incoming showers. Sparse parking filled with optimistic followers, hopeful to squeeze in one more ride before Mother Nature has her final say. Club meeting on the sea wall; discussions and deep dives on foregoing for terry cloth and bobbles. The time is now, the window is open, what you see is the best of what your going to get, so get on it while you can.

CHANNEL: Texturized and white capped on the horizon as the wind builds speed. Goose bumped surface fighting the NW outgoing swell with not a lot of shape nor form. Two prone paddlers by the pole bobbing against the current in a sideways pattern. Set waves clocking in knee high range as long as your in the perfect spot for take off.

PATCH: Meeting rock barely peeking through to wish good morning vibes. Lines appear to be present yet not fully materializing into full fun stoke. An extra effort and belief in the system is what it will take to find the path to enlightenment.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” - Napoleon Hill

And so it begins. Summer kick off with cooperative weather and temps rising to the occasion. Clear and sunny skies with no winds and early tides dropping but allowing enough to preserve stoke. Parking is already minimal as both the dedicated and deranged seek solace and slides within continuing breakers. Multi-directional swells have much of the beach activated in one way or another and the crush of humanity is sure to be thick. Pick your place and your poison wisely.

CHANNEL: Shapes of some caliber just outside our marker, the vigilant sentinel. A peeling left holds the attention while boat ramp shapes seem headed in two directions. Certain angles are severe and among the rod, reel and tackle bobbings some of the thruster tribe exist. Dropping tide helps reshape the forms but ultimately with play havoc with the outcomes. Pay attention and give thanks and praise when needed.

PATCH: I can’t think of a place I’d rather be. The whole wide world doesn’t mean so much to me, for this is where I belong. This is where I belong.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee

Another morning shrouded in mist with a gaggle of geese crisscrossing overcast skies. The temp has risen to 57F and the winds remain light though threatening. Preparation for a long weekend of festivities and summer kickoff evidenced in the early hours. Again multiple swells compete for your attention and superiority but under the draining tide manifestations. Free range and open parking with only the usual dawn patrol sliders venturing forth.

CHANNEL: Surrounded by seagulls battling for King of the Pole honors while other participants scavenge morsels from the exposed water clingers. A beach now strewn with pebble and sand extends in all directions as further water depletion continues. The late morning turnaround is where and when you should set your sights if slides of length are on your agenda. Currently a lack of water making the play less satisfying than current seekers had hoped.

PATCH: Dedicated devotees know no limits and suit up without a look or care of consequence. The lowering tide has and will continue to do her usual damage to a stationed SW swell still willing to provide. Make your choice, steel your nerves, get in, and get out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Forgiveness is a virtue of the brave.” - Indira Gandhi

The rising sun brings both warmth and joy to the early villagers. Clouds burning off and temps in the mid 50s with no winds to speak of. Competing swells from opposed directions again setting the stage under lackluster water levels still on the drop. Better conditions are expected as the day unfolds but only the movement of the clock knows the ultimate truth. Today clearly has certain possibilities, if one pays heed to tidal charts and broken hearts.

CHANNEL: Through keen eyes shapes are observed and contemplation begins. Price varies by location as most are drained and void of water levels needed to support enduring stoke. The retreating waters offer no favors, but look ever forward to the arvo hours. Tidal return and holding of stature could make one’s afternoon worth reverie and reflection.

PATCH: A six-pack of black clad specimens make their way out to the depths. Rides are erratic and shortened as rock, stone and sand outnumber waters and walkabout potential is limited. As stated above, arrival time is crucial if the full aspects of slides are to be realized.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and touch that never hurts.” - Charles Dickens

Under the sunniest of skies and the lowest of tides we feel the warmth and promise of new beginnings. Already 57F and nary a breath of wind to disturb the serenity of the early morning hours. Roads remain damp and steaming but hearts again fill as our primary and secondary swells are ready, willing and able to dispense stoke and slides to all available seekers. Parking surprisingly thin for a hump day mission. Settled seas are smooth and glistening with potential unlimited.

CHANNEL: Depleted of sand and water with a drained tide well below the equilibrium. The pole and its associated wall are exposed and surrounded by canine explorers searching for morning morsels. Out upon the water sand migration is evidenced by returning peaks at the very end of the ramp breaking both right and left without a care in the world. The Channel and Groin will only benefit from returning tides of the early afternoon to truly show their apparatus in action.

PATCH: Scattered yet solid forms finding a route to shore but from well outside or other areas with some depth . The interior avenue is stone, stick and sand with all exposure baking in the sun. The early lows will eventually give way to adequate water levels after lunch and into the dark night. Find yourself here at some point today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile and a grateful heart.” - Zig Ziglar

Lacy sheets of pouring rain falling steadily from high to low. Morning showers cast wet shadows blocking all sun for warmth as an easy breeze picks up speed. Abandoned streets, clear from signs of life, hunkered down inside from the elements, most watch from inside out windows. Rivers rush down both sides of the ramp and continue through sand to meet the salty sea. Out yonder confusion and mixed direction for all to see and no one partakes. Waiting is the name of the game and with fingers and toes crossed, this too shall pass.

CHANNEL: WNW swell primary, though showing no sign of life in the current storm. Negative tide in full effect as Channel proper reveals its center island. Waves crumbling through ankle height at best and lacking any energy. No one out anywhere, for there’s nothing to see. By late afternoon once the passing storm has been and gone, take a gander with fresh new eyes.

PATCH: The meeting rock proudly stands without movement around near or far. Sharp and pointy, the forefront and backdrop are unforgiving for the surefooted. Best to call it a day and seek activity elsewhere.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There’s nothing in the world more powerful than a good story.” - Tyrion Lannister

Morning dew drops glowing yellow as the rising sun has come out of hiding. Fluffy clouds linger in the background, like wall flowers, with birds singing in tune from branches above. Numbingly cold to being at 50, while numbers are excepted to climb upwards to 59 before another shower of rain commences by early evening. For now bundled up, watch your step down the ramp and take a walk on the crystalized sandy shore crunching beneath your feet.

CHANNEL: Glorious sun shining through misty air, casting golden sparkles on the oceans surface. W swell slightly bent on the sides with less energy and form than otherwise posted. Low tide not helping the current situation, as waves roll in the ankle to shin height with less push. Hopeful riders lay in waiting for the tide to roll in and hopefully save the day.

PATCH: Lacking rhythm with lines haphazardly swaying forward missing the beat. Two stand ups missing the eight counts on where to begin to find the end. As more songs play and fill in, let the bass be your guide.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“It is what we know already that often prevents us from learning.” - Claude Bernard

Ear popping cracks of lightning and booming thunder breaks dawns beginnings. Uneasy weather settling in for yet another day, in mid-May? Humid temps starting at 50 not climbing passed 55 for a high. A familiar furry friend patiently waits for the key of warmth to turn and shelter from the storm. Parking is open as most are sheltering in place and preparing for who will take the throne. Winter is no longer invited and the dragons will have their final say.

CHANNEL: Large amounts of debris on the boat ramp as sand etched out rebar at the bottom. The ocean is mighty confused in which direction to turn and flow. W swell blown out from the storm, leaving white water crumbles and white capped beginnings. No peaks or valleys and seasick waves churning in the ankle height. No one in or out of the water as of yet.

PATCH: So take, take me home. Cos I don’t remember. Take, take me home. Cos I don’t remember. Take, take me home. Cos I don’t remember. Take, take me home.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Discipline is choosing between what you want now, and what you want most.” - Abraham Lincoln

Clouds above and timeless mist below while the temp finds and seeks 50F. Winds remain calm but the immediate future remains unsettled as all eyes turn towards the sea and horizon beyond. Though the weather does not bode well for backyard bbqs, the foundation and framework is laid for breakers. Tide and time are the limiting factors with negative water levels just now making a comeback. Winds and weather will also play a significant role in the pursuit of stoke so act in the moment as this piece of paradise is fleeting and temperamental.

CHANNEL: The key, as always, is timing this morning as the volume of water makes waiting essential. As the hours slip by expect atmospheric changes to effect all outcomes. Parking is currently available due to the early hours of the day. Be mindful of others as you seek your bliss, as you will undoubtably not be the only one.

PATCH: A barren Patch save for one solitary individual wielding carbon fiber on the far outskirts. Ultimately you may find yourself wanting if the weather predictions come to an early fruition.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Things turn out the best for people who make the best of the way things turn out.” - John Wooden

We initiate the drying out under mottled and cool skies with temps of 51F and relatively light puffs of wind. Storm borne NW windswell the primary actor with a background S taking center stage later in the day. Janitorial clean up on all aisles is required but not by the sweepers of the sea. If the weather holds steady and some calming hours pass this could be a day to kindle stoke and find slides. The tidal push should provide the forms you seek, but they are marginally evident in the early hours. The only thing predictable is the unpredictability.

CHANNEL: Exposed sand and strewn stone in all directions gazed upon. The ocean reclaims most of what was deposited along the shore and the landscape gets re-imagined and differentiated. Water volume remains low but a chunky windswell is finding pockets of depth and activating in random shapes and areas. Water invasion will help the cause with the only concern the return of the winds.

PATCH: SW swell under low tide conditions can be seen from above yet not felt below. The presence may not fully arrive until the afternoon hours under positive water levels. Although lacking in briny reserves, outside waves pop up and perpetuate the hopeful positive future. Unruly action to be clear but a distant hoot may have echoed through the canyon.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.” - Anton Chekhov

Weather reprieve lasting only for moments though the damage is done as SW winds continue under detached blue skies. A pervasive damp and micro mist dusts objects as the switch gets turned ON and OFF while the mercury dips down to 53F. A subdued air hangs above the village with only minor stirrings from the creatures in the early hours. Strewn debris and beach sand removal all along the ramp show the power and remains of the S swell which has now depleted.

CHANNEL: Slipshod shapes and patchwork undulations as we approach a full high tide. The evidence is quite compelling and forms are only present as an amusement for those seeking actual stoke. A day of bobbing and balancing may eventually yield a slide, but the merits will remain questionable.

PATCH: Cause it’s gone , daddy, gone - your love is gone. Yeah, it’s gone, daddy, gone - your love is gone. Yeah, it’s gone, daddy, gone - your love is gone. Yeah, it’s gone, daddy, gone - your love is gone away.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Encourage innocent amusement.” - Joseph Addison

Low clouds and heavy damp. Rain and wind as the party spoiler. Special moments now reduced to a disheveled landscape of confusion. Swell still activated and willing but Mother Nature makes other plans. Temp locked in at 57F but strong SW winds knocking peaks down and out and blowing in your face. Many hopeful sliders still come, suit up and unload trusty sleds only to stare dispassionately at the scene along the water’s edge.

CHANNEL: Quiet desperation and a fading memory. The thoughts of a broken soul as one gazes towards the ever present marker. Those still seeking stoke will brave the higher tides though with questionable outcomes. Be forewarned - nothing clean exists today.

PATCH: A lone and insistent initiate climbs the wall to gain a better vantage point on the gravity of the situation. Taking the well-worn inside path to fruition of shapes barely recognizable from the previous evening’s wave festival. Find what you can today for it will be only what you make of it.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” - Oprah Winfrey

Moody gray thick and socked in, tucking away sunshine rays from corners edge. Humid and sticky atmospheric space, temps hover at 50. More incoming than outgoing and parking spaces are set at a premium. Quivered boards of feathered varieties displayed before the final coat of wax is applied. You can feel it, if you didn’t already know, there’s something in the water.

CHANNEL: SSW swell hitting hard angles and slightly missing Channel proper. Waves rolling in the knee to thigh range with sharp shoulders and smooth faces. Out front the boat ramp peak and valley formations ebb and flow for those who want space. Pick your poison, pick your stick and enjoy the ride!

PATCH: Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. And eyes and ears and mouth and nose. Head, shoulders knees and toes, knees and toes. *sung on endless repeat*

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There may be a brighter star. But through my eyes the light of you is all I see.” - Stevie Wonder

Alarm notifications preset for early morning wake ups to begin the weekly grind, sing in high volume for wakey-wakies. Commuters in all forms, headlights turned on high to combat the thick gray overhead covering. Outside temps starting low at 48 as white fingers clasp hot mugs with hopes of pinker colors. Down jackets buttoned up, topped off with woolly hats, down to the shore we go. Left and right glassy forms move forward with perfect framed white water A’s.

CHANNEL: High tide peaking, yet the South swell is here to play. Lots of current churning in Channel proper causing constant repositioning for the perfect spot. Hurry up and wait is the name of the game to ride waist high slides. All sleds of different angled varieties will bring stoke and joy to those who can join in.

PATCH: Lines rolling in at a constant beat with a snare drum clash at the end. Join the conga line and shake your tail feathers waist high. Plenty of beats to go around for everyone who want to join in on the dance.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Sweater, n.: garment worn by child when its mother is feeling chilly.” - Ambrose Bierce

Overclouded fuzz towering above as the sun has decided to sleep in this morning. A slight tickle of breeze feeling the chill at 50. Still and quiet, a calm blanket covers town in the morning break. Today is special, one in which we celebrate our Mother’s and our Mother figures for all the support, strength, humor and unconditional love they give us all day, every day. So go out there and show some mother lovin’ love to all the mother’s and mother’s of others, for without all of you, all of us would not be half the people we are today. THANK YOU!

CHANNEL: Glassy gray slow motion ocean movement, as the South swell slowly arrives to play. Long periods of waiting in between knee high sets in Channel proper. A gang of 8 out fighting against the outgoing tide, trying to stay in position, resulting in tired arms and missed opportunity. Practice patience and pick your favorite.

PATCH: Every once in a blue moon, a line or two appears out of thin air. It’s all a waiting game, and those who have the most patience wins.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Everything is nothing - with a twist.” - Kurt Vonnegut

A willing sky ready to impart color as the sun desires to pierce the cover. 54F degrees and supremely still air has the morning initially quiet though trembling with expectation. Early high tide on the drop and yards upon yards of sandy beach are exposing. The low lows equal a no go in BoBo. As the volumes fills in the voids, slides and smiles should be on tap.

CHANNEL: The grey hours reveal a running tide and the ever watching steel pillar. Dawn cracking sliders making the most of a diminishing resource with water levels running to sea level and then below. Rippling upon the surface but not destroying all vibes. Solace can and will be found, but it will likely be near the mid-afternoon high water mark.

PATCH: I’m standing in your corridor. I wonder what I’m waiting for. The leaves are drifting out to sea. I’m waiting for you desperately. All things beautiful. I want everything.
