Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Anything that has real and lasting value is always a gift from within.” - Franz Kafka

Heady vibes and low tides while we implore the sun to make itself known. A density of cloud cover though drier than days past. Calm and mild at 54F as we gaze into quieted seas. More volume in all ingredients is required currently but a trio efforts to disrupt the calm and conjure slides.

CHANNEL: Exposed beach well beyond the pole. Lucky canines have full control of breakers and a wide range to run. As the tide fills, more desirable shapes should fill the field of vision. Keep all expectations real and welcome any offerings on tap later in the day.

PATCH: Fledgling forms for all vampires in the early light of outgoing morning tide. Swell shifting to more westerly degrees and water now fully evaporated through the morning. Those gathered on the wall turn to the far side of the beach to view intermittent shapes and brief glimpses of hope. Momentous lulls between will give you time to study all manner and form of exposed stone and rock.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Character consists of what you do on the third and fourth tries.” - James A. Michener

Mixed mists and light rain to wet surfaces and slicken roads. Evening afterglow met with harsh morning realities of deep negative tides and light S winds. Swell still holding firm though workable substrates are absent in the early hours. Comfortable at 54F and quiet with only the necessary beings moving around. Use free time wisely and clear the afternoon calendar for sliding.

CHANNEL: A stalwart trio of the suited and booted surveys and searches for adequate figures and forms. Dressed for success they depart the shore for uncharted depths, wading through the shallows rather than paddling. Unknown outcomes await them and all of us. *There is a small fishing boat bobbing among the participants.

PATCH: Minus low tide putting a firm hold on the area and exposing all underlying secrets. Acceptable shapes for sliding are currently nonexistent. Look to the later portion of the day to rouse the spirits when the tide returns and the swell struts out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Make the most of the best and the least of the worst.” - Robert Louis Stevenson

Between mist and sprinkles as we bridge the gap between dew and rain. High grey and low winds while we wonder where’s Waldo in the form of S swell. Temp starts at 54F and early stirrings of humanity are met with low tides heading towards the negative but have hearts full of joy and stoke at the wonder and potential. Options, though not unlimited, and the tide resumes filling in the later morning and holds steady throughout the balance of the day.

CHANNEL: Fully stocked and groomed beach sands have reached new levels of height. Receding waters and light SW winds making a tricky combo for early seekers of stokage. Sliders positioned off the point of breaker entry in an attempt to glean a corner. Reassess and revisit upon a fuller tide for better returns on investment.

PATCH: Early enthusiasm bordered with rocky outcroppings. The most consistent rides and slides should play to form here and improve with more water additions. As per custom you may need to dodge paddle and plastic while it is furiously thrown about or seek the tranquility and distance of Green Africa. With careful discernment, rides of yards can be found and ridden. Overall volume is on the way down and shapes may take a brief respite before returning as the day continues.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Let your life lightly dance on the edges of time like dew on the tip of a leaf.” - Rabindranath Tagore

Gray and silver overhead while the sun plays coy in hiding. Damp streets as tires hiss traveling over the hill transporting precious cargo. Tepid to start at 54 with temperatures rising to 61 by late noon. Scattered parking out front the new gate while school goers line up for pick ups and chatty goats catch up on the latest town gossip. A new energy in the air and in the sea that is felt near and far for a select few who can come out and play.

CHANNEL: New south arriving on the horizon, yet cannot break through low tide. Ocean current through Chanel proper is strong leading out to sea as fishermen brace with force and bend at the knee. No one currently out as waves roll in the shin height. As tide turns, keep an eye on the pole, and bring your sled with you.

PATCH: Pay no attention to the rocky warning sign for fun is on the horizon. White crumbly edges and smooth faces await those who can make the extra paddle. No rush to try every one as more are coming along the way. Slow and steady arms win the race.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“In small matters trust the mind, in large ones the heart.” - Sigmund Freud

Overnight rain dissipating into misty sprinkles as dawn breaks a new day. Humidity high with temperatures low at 50 to begin. Dampness seeping through cracks and crevices with little puddles here and there; feels like March in May. Dusting off the rain slicker once more, leaving behind sunglasses for goulashes, trudging to shore, first right then left. From atop of the wall the best view in town enjoyed solo.

CHANNEL: Wading fishermen head to toe in protective rubber casting lines hoping for a bite. North western swell creating little movement as water laps knees of those holding poles. A herd of seals gather around angling for the first catch, while birds fly over head for seconds. As tide rolls in, only time will tell if rides may be found. For now, sit and watch the banana slug parade go by.

PATCH: Rocky beginnings mark the trail with tide pools full of life. Every now and again, a small white shawl wraps the shoulders of the outside meeting rock, disappearing in the blink of an eye. With a little imagination and a whole lot of luck, afternoon glides will hold in the future.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you.” - Marsha Norman

Thick gray overlay blanketing tight and tucked in the corners, while town remains calm and still for now. Chill to begin at 50 with only the edge burned off by afternoon to 57. Memories of yesterdays dancing whales, breaching the surface and blowing spray high at the forefront crisp and clear. Nature’s beauty for all to see, only for a select few. A new focus begins today, with most envisioning salty rims, sliced limes and frozen beverages. With tacos in hand armed with spicy fixings, celebrating the victory at The Battle of Puebla. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

CHANNEL: Sand bar shift causing quite a stir with grainy covering abound. Only the lady remains visible, laying in all her glory. Low tide shifting to an early incoming, yet no proof is in the pudding. WNW swell meandering towards shore with no hurry. Waves rolling in at ankle height through Channel Proper. Currently seals are the only adventurous ones exploring.

PATCH: A stand up crew of five gliding horizontally passed the meeting rock without bobbing. Rocky beginnings start the journey with birds in the middle and stillness at the finish. For now, finish what you started, with breakfast burrito in hand.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Stay close to nature; stay close to the earth.” - Carol Schuldt

Misplace emphasis dissolved, a merciful sleep delivers us into a fresh end-of-week stillness. Calls of the winged townsfolk echo across the windless morning. Three classic watercraft lean along the tennis court fence: lonesome travelers at the station awaiting their salty locomotive. Claws and upturned crustacean bodies tangled in ocean vines litter the deserted battlefield at the edge of land. Meanwhile, we remain crazy about the sea, spilling its memory over all that allow. The way in is way out.

CHANNEL: If it’s leaving it’ll come back. In Proper, get up, get down, and get on your horse. Quick shin right and knee left, of course, of course.

PATCH: Phosphorescent sheen of the unborn summer is magnetic. The thousand beiges come and go with a glittering interplay. It’s cold with a chilling coldness, trickling its undulating way around the peek-a-boo meeting rock. Farther down, the suction of the maelstrom kisses many a precious stone. And outside, a patient three put on a show without a care for scale or consistency.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.” - Michael Caine

Overcast, calm and comfortable at 52F while the sun makes other morning plans. No breezes exist currently but beware the later hour tendencies. An unusual quiet hangs over the village and traffic is minimal. The familiar sounds of those gearing up to get down are sporadic in the early hours. Should you need a place for meditation or reflection, our fine break should suit you this day.

CHANNEL: Seagull silhouettes and wide expanses of wet sand. Joggers, dog walkers, foragers and a general slow pulse. Shapes suitable for sliding on the questionable side as low tide cancelling morning plans. Tide has switched to incoming and possibly to breakers on for the balance of the day. With only a weakened NW swell to provide the options are slim.

PATCH: A fixated trio scans the horizon from higher perches. A day where patience is required and timing essential in order to wring the stoke to its very last drop. Infrequent shapes appear and can be ridden though for shorter lengths than previous days. Have a topic of conversation as lulls between sets are part of the regimen. Watch for outcomes to continue to fade as the swell becomes a memory.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Sometimes the best things are right in front of you; it just takes some time to see them.” - Gladys Knight

Early makings of a Bo-beautiful day as again the wind remains still. Coastal cloud cover beginning to part and pockets of blue appear. Sun will show and shine and initial temp is 51F. The Siren’s call to slide is being answered by seekers from all walks of life and riding all manner of equipment. A delicate SW swell continues to be productive while NW vectors are encouraging breakers as well. If you fit in, get in.

CHANNEL: Clear filament and ornamental hooks mingle with sliders on breakers during the tidal comeback. What shapes currently exist have marginalized power and are too close to the exposed sands and fisherman’s casting range. Spinning pint-sized rights and lefts show the potential that may exist. Windows should be opening for riding as the morning grows and if the breezes remain slack should last through the day.

PATCH: Most determined sliders, of the log carrying species, with find something worthwhile in the morning hours. Continuing SW swell has formatted rights that hold for yards and many extended seconds. Likely a stunning day in terms of weather and a cooperative sea may add to the pleasant memories.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” - Helen Keller

The sun shines down freely though the mercury needle begins at 48F. Only a reminder of a breeze as if a whisper. Reverberations felt far and wide and parking thin for a hump day dip. Those with reasonable outlooks and a penchant for stoke are chasing the dream and hoping for new S swell pulses. Tide swings not a major factor in eventual outcomes. Make the most of the resources presented to you, as conditions are always malleable. Know that the only constant is change.

CHANNEL: Observed and ridden lines with breakers approaching the realm of the thigh. Swells have westerly tendencies and our sands have re-shifted to more familiar designs. 2 loggers, 1 SUP and a kayak show the mixed bag of attendees and appeal the area garners. The direction is heading right and that may evolve over time.

PATCH: A half dozen or more sliders basking in the warming rays and newly arrived SW swell of narrow proportions but long period. Steady conditions prevail currently and should hold if the winds continue to offer a reprieve. Pack your big board, a smile and a PMA and enjoy it.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“But if anybody knows me, I don’t need anybody to motivate me. I hate loosing. I hate loosing period.” - Sunny Garcia

Sunshine rays playing hide and seek through April’s June gloom. Breezy movements visible by dancing trees as birds grasp to hold on. Tepid beginning at 54 with fingers crossed of reaching 61. Wide open parking, a familiar mid-week view, walking towards where the sand meets the ocean. Water lapping the salty edge, relaxed with the welcome home to all of those who enter.

CHANNEL: Grainy patterned surface on top as the NW swell has decided to take another day off. Two men rowing their boat through Channel proper with fishing endeavors at the forefront. Small wavelets rolling in shin height to the right just passed the pole. With an extra paddle and a little faith, happiness can be found in the stoke.

PATCH: Directionally challenged taking a wrong turn, seems as though Google maps has it wrong. Best to wait and refresh the screen this afternoon. Incoming high tide will help point you in the right direction.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There is only one map to the journey of life and it lives within your heart.” - Willie Nelson

Trees hustle and bustle with against the wind as leaves scatter and fall to the ground. Atmospheric gray above keeping temperatures low to start at 48. Delivery trucks begin their back ups beeping along the way. Deserted parking, wide and open, a prelude to whats to come. Upon the approach, one step is all it takes for sand to cover the sole. Squinting eyes through wind swept hair, ocean confusion far and wide.

CHANNEL: Seasick ocean motion as the wind wipes out any chance for the NW swell to get through. White caps peaking in Channel proper rolling backwards against the air current, with no shape nor form. No one in or out of the water. Best to curl up inside with a good book and a warm cup of tea.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” - Albert Einstein

Break of day highlights pearly gray without a trace of sun. Calming wind down to a slight breeze with temps hovering at 50 to begin. Quivers of different feathers roll in hoping to secure a spot in the early hours. Those who found a place, set up roots and meander towards the sea. Reading the inside of hand written notes hoping to make sense of the meaning. Atop of the wall, gazing out far and wide, questioning how soon the time is now.

CHANNEL: Ruffled texture on the surface leftover from yesterdays overnight wind. Sluggish fading NW swell having little effect on the Channel proper and areas around. No sign of the ever elusive S swell with sets rolling in the shin height. One lonely hopeful out floating along with seals.

PATCH: A gang of 5 bobbing around hoping to find the secret spot for enlightenment. With more chatting than paddling, tiny rides are few and far between. Pay attention and read between the lines, with a whole lot of luck, ankles will be bitten in the best way possible.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“You must trust and believe in people or lift becomes impossible.” - Anton Chekhov

Overcast morning though lukewarm air and no winds about. Sun focusing energies with scattered blue pockets of burn through windows. Early stage temps hover at 53F and the weekend participants are already underway. Tides do not rise or fall outside of acceptable parameters and multiple areas can be surveyed and inspected for stoke and slides. Swells do remain frail but not entirely without force. Options exist for those with open minds and time to kill.

CHANNEL: The seafaring heart will see forms and slides inside the concrete and steel marker though lulls of some consequence are expected. Periods of pulses likely from a fading NW windswell allow for those placing body and board in the correct vector to achieve some slides of import. Shallow waters may be your foil today, and she is already in the reduction mode as the morning progresses. Enjoy the shapes for what they are, not what they can offer you.

PATCH: Forlorn and forsaken in the early light though a small but pesky SW swell has activated. Reduce expectations, trust with your eyes, follow your heart and be in the moment. Resultant breakers may at times be knee high and rideable.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Focus more on your desire then on your doubt, and the dream will take care of itself.” - Mark Twain

Heathered patterns overlapping the sun without a trace or hint of blue. Moisture wicking passers by on their way to adventures unknown. Tempid to start at 55 with pressure building to the low 60’s. With a deep inhale, that old familiar scent of Friday feeling. The benchmark signaling the weekend is so close you can taste and feel it. Pump up the music, sing along and settle in.

CHANNEL: Glassy mirrored surfaces reflecting foggy gray motion left and right. NW swell ocean movement sluggish, having a hard time waking up this morning. Waves slowly rolling in at shin height with out shoulders nor white water at the end. With an extra paddle on the longest sled, rides and slides can be had.

PATCH: Wavelet /wavlit/: noun: a wave-like oscillation with an amplitude that begins at zero, increases, and then decreases back to zero. A small wave of water, a ripple.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“If you get tangled up, just tango on.” - Al Pacino

Coastal blankets above anticipating the burn off with the mercury rise. Pick up trucks masquerade as delivery semi-trucks bringing the goods to town. Unpacking treasures in large boxes, feeling the burn left and right. While the cats away the mice will play with box cutters and rope tie downs. Taking a break walking to shore, calm and serenity now. Empty spaces fill the void of familiar morning patterns. Left and right, vast and open, sandy bottoms all around.

CHANNEL: NW swell lapping shore in a glassy state. Ankle bitters rolling in at a snails pace in Channel proper with three SUP’s gliding across. Currently prone positioned paddlers search elsewhere for rides and slides. A tides shift back to shore this afternoon, rides may be had with the longest sled and strongest arms.

PATCH: Take me down, take me down to the water, take my hand, learn me all I should know. Here I am, I’m waiting for you, just give me a sign, please don’t fail me now.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” - Aesop

Wildflowers pink and purple bursting in bloom signaling Spring is in the air. Sun kissed country side glowing in yellow and orange as the rising sun is here to play. Warm on the outside, starting at 57 and climbing high to 72. Flip flops are the chosen protection, leaving jackets hung in the closet and packing high SPF in pockets. No wind nor breeze can be felt while tides ebb and flow. Any swell is but a faded memory, for the ocean is calm and still. From atop the sea wall we sit and wait basking in the sun.

CHANNEL: NW swell at a stand still with low tide. No wave formations of any size to read coming in on the horizon and no ocean current to speak of. Two simmers splash and squeal, while lazy seals float nearby warming their bellies. While there may be no surf as of yet today, imagine the endless possibilities on this perfect beach day.

PATCH: What you don’t have, you don’t need it now. What you don’t know, you can feel it somehow. What you don’t have, you don’t need it now, need it now. It’s a beautiful day!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful - an endless prospect of magic and wonder.” - Ansel Adams

Morning yellow amber rays wash out fogginess and grogginess from leftover chocolate hangovers. Blue skies far reaching, meeting the ocean on the horizon without a trace of cloud. Flocks of feathers gather together, snacking on sardine breakfast treats covering the surface like a warm blanket. 4/22/2019, a special day, one in which we honor the O.G. Matriarch, Mother Earth. Let us give thanks, give love and take care of her, as she does for all of us, every single day. Happy Earth Day!

CHANNEL: Fishermen standing on shore while controlling miniature remote surf figures catching big toe surf barrels. No swell to report anywhere, nor any forward ocean motion movement. What remains, is a vast warm sandy beach with man’s best friends running in delight and barefoot friends casually strolling behind. A stunningly beautiful day!

PATCH: Take a hike, a walk, pack a picnic…..whatever you decide, just make sure to do it outside!

egg.jpg

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The power of imagination makes us infinite.” - John Muir

Shadow creatures grow in length while the golden egg rises high above the trees, highlighting zig-zag bunny trails below. Cold temps kick-off Easter Sunday at 45 climbing to 65 by mid-day. Zephyr blasts from yesterday are all but a floating memory as calm and stillness have settled in. Early morning soul searchers on the prowl for parking trying their best to squeeze a session in, in-preparation for later brunching celebrations. Hopping down the bunny trail, where the land meets the sea and through the gates we go.

CHANNEL: Super slow action ocean motion bobbing from right to left. No shape, no size, nor push as water levels are currently at their lowest. NW swell readings are small throughout the day leaving little to the imagination. Shin to ankle on the sets is where its at. With a little faith and the longest sled, a ride or two may be had with tired arms.

PATCH: Easter hunters searching for the golden egg have gone to look elsewhere. Leaving no stone un-turned, most have left to forage for bacon and hash-browns before filling up on chocolate bunny ears.
