Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The way you get a better world is, you don’t put up with substandard anything.” - Joe Strummer

As dawn-break fades into morning, a clear line is creeping in the sphere between light and dark. Cold humid moisture preludes the squally tale of tomorrow as temps start at 52. Fortune tellers rhyme in riddles speaking a language no one understands. Tis’ the calm before the storm…….

CHANNEL:  Lake like motion as the ocean is fast asleep. Do not disturb….

PATCH: The smallest of jewels can be found by those who are prepared with the right gear. Armed with treasure maps and long pickaxes, chipping away on calm surfaces, tiny treasures await those who have the energy to try.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” - Melody Beattie

Dawn welcomes calling hawks overhead as alarm clocks try and wake those in deep slumber. Hitting the snooze button one last time before wiping the sleep away to begin the first day of the new week. Chilling cold with breath clouds forming, temps hover at 45. Bundled and rolled up, walking to the shore in anticipation to view the forming treasures from the sea. Sunlight highlights circular spotlights on salty mirror surfaces; so clear you can see your own reflection.

CHANNEL:  Slow, ankle height and crumbling, one single A frame trying hard with all it’s might to move forward. W and S swell buoy reading, though not materializing into reality. No push or energy. Seems as though the Channel has a strong case of the Monday’s.

PATCH: Three bobbing donkeys out to graze with not enough grass to feed on. Stomachs remain empty and most decide to move on to greener pastures.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“We’re all strange inside. We learn how to disguise the differences as we grow up.” - Annie Proulx

Universe has a crush on all (didn’t hear it from me), as evidenced by sheets of yellow suspended over mercurial mirror eternal. The visitor, the visitor, reminds us: to survive is to steal toothpaste without the tube looking any different after. Take heed. Eight wall-bound admirers gaze rightward from afar, in love with view. Truth lies a little in the gaze, but it IS the experience of bobbing seat and subsquent slide which is most near to life. Rocks due to emerge in time, please never hurry, and don’t wait.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides.” - Carl Sagan

A ring of sun breaks through the haze as we find 43F and calmed winds here in the Bo. Easy and plentiful access routes with findings suited to those preferring to log it. NW swell holds steady though our sandbars have been mostly scrubbed out by the last storms. Predicted S has long period but lacks in size. Draining water levels acting as a bit of deterrent early. Things look to improve as the tide pushes in and the day seems poised for greatness.

CHANNEL:  Initially little to none in the Channel zip code proper which allows one to have it all to themselves. What is showing promise lies directly out front of a boat ramp launch. Sand movement may have been carried north and allows for nearly waist high breakers to arrive and discharge. Both directions seem equally applicable as this novelty wave is generally fleeting.

PATCH:  Here is where the multitudes are situated with voluminous boards and some carbon fiber paddles. Scratch, scrap and scrape for the scant offerings but know more may be realized as time and space shifts. Dropping tide uncovers stone and crag and serves to push to zone further out to depths better suited for keeping fins and toes intact.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” - Joseph Campbell

Subdued chills as weather patterns shift and temps remain in the low 40s to begin. NE breezes are in play and will serve to facilitate warmth while the sun shines unobstructed above. Others may benefit from current NW swell but we find fault and absences in its scheduled appearance. Locate a new perspective and address the ocean with renewed vigor. There are partakers of the gifts bestowed but mighty efforts are required to move boards shoreward on glistening breakers of marginal appeal.

CHANNEL:  Low tide just passed and has the Channel a bit shredded and seeking recovery. An early empty lineup a product of inconsequential offerings and sandbars out of alignment. Knee to thigh peaks dump early but not often and may benefit from future water additions. The day shows promise if buoy readings are correct and to be believed and the tides revolve to favorable in a few hours.

PATCH:  The place to be in the early hours yet only the inner Snags region operational. Smoothing rights working for the long log crew and peaceful calm prevails. More water and new swell required to induce further wave procurement. Some rocks beginning to emerge from the depths but tidal fill will again soon cover and at least hide.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Wherever I have knocked, a door has opened. Wherever I have wandered, a path has appeared.” - Alice Walker

Chilled but crystal clear as the sun returns some normalcy to our daily routine. Radiating warmth in small increments while we start the morning at 41F and calm. Surveying the coast the observations enlighten and buoy spirits a degree. Minor motions yet the pieces are in place for an assemblage to be created. Tidal swings have calmed as well to allow for greater time frames in which to be opportunistic.

CHANNEL:  A moderate NW swell begins its journey and seeks to land upon these shores. Early precursor offerings obtaining mixed reviews with the setups being slightly off kilter. Squinting and glinting under blinding light shows a narrow zone upon which lone peaks develop and dissolve. Spatial adaptation a must in order to realize full stoke.

PATCH:  Heavy inspection leads the Masters of Minimalism and heavy logs take to the range and sample waist high rollers under fully golden skies. As the tide retreats so shall the forms so plan accordingly for either early or late.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” - Dalai Lama

White and feathery transparent covering as deep blue shines through. A slight breeze with 42 degree chill, creating chicken skin and full white fingers to those who step outside in the elements. A Monday, on a Tuesday, as we begin a short 9-5 working week. For those fortunate few, who are parked by the sea, have other tasks scheduled on their to-do’s. Being careful to dot the I’s and cross the T’s with tidal swings of highs and lows while keeping fingers and toes crossed for the perfect timing.

CHANNEL:  Swinging tidal levels throughout the day creating extreme highs and lows once again. W swell mixed with a little S with no real push or effort. With goose bumped surface, the ocean is also feeling the chill in the air. Too much water for anything to get through with the Channel resembling a motionless lake. Less is always more, and by afternoon hopes and dreams of rides and slides may materialize.

PATCH:  One lonely figure standing tall out to sea motionless enjoying the view. Flat and calm with bubbly white water tickling the sand, today is a perfect day for internal positive self reflection.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

Brilliant clear and blue, with prism reflective orange ribbons are a sight for sore stormy eyes to see.  Motionless trees straight standing as birds chirp hiding behind leaves and branches.  A bonus Sunday on a Monday, as we honor MLK and all of those whom have had dreams of better futures for all.  Let the sun embrace your soul, feel the warmth of energy and take a deep breath of clear air.  Get outside and play!

CHANNEL:  Extreme tidal highs and negative lows determine when the exact crack of the window opens for potential salt water bliss.  Too swollen and spilling over as the W swell pushes forward against the seawall leaving nothing to the imagination.  As tide runs out fast, opportunity knocks at about 1pm for knee to thigh possibilities.  For now, sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

PATCH:  The dynamic duo is back together again!  Positive vibes all around with “yeews” for all.  Dancing practice in full effect as no lines are present and there’s no reason to rush.  Lunch time is the best time; that’s when we bend at the knees and rejoice by going right or left.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“New mysteries. New day. Fresh doughnuts.” - David Lynch

Sheets of rain and wind settling in like the return of house guests that have outstayed their welcome. Temps clocking in at 57 and not budging for the remainder of the day. Empty streets as intricate preparations are well under way for tonight’s Super Blood Wolf Moon celebration. Laser like focus on crystal selections picked with positive intentions and howling practice is key to ensure tone and volume. Those who were hoping to focus energies on rides and slides, as the old saying goes, you should have been here yesterday.

CHANNEL:  Swollen and extreme high tide mixed with wind and rain make for non-surf conditions. Strong W swell showing force in the water, but is no match for the windy currents running sideways. Debris in the water and flowing up the ramp to the street blocking the viewing party for anyone hoping to get a glance. Take the stairs and overlook from above to see the strength of Mother Nature as she flexes her muscles on the ocean’s surface.

PATCH: The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah. The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah. The ants go marching two by two, the little one stops to put away his surf gear. And they all go marching down, to the ground, to get out of the rain. Boom! Boom! Boom!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“A very little key will open a very heavy door.” - Charles Dickens

Low level stillness hangs above while temps take the opportunity to reach 57F. Coastal veil again and sun may not make its scheduled appearance today. Winds have ceased and those gazing towards the horizon do so from the highest vantage point to avoid a ritual soaking. As is the custom, there are the dedicated, the desperate and the disillusioned making their way into uncertain conditions. The findings are tinged with adventure if you are up for a challenge.

CHANNEL:  Fully flushed with tide above and beyond the norm. Easing swell still with capacity for production but buried deep beneath too much water. Shapes and forms may be in the mind’s eye as they appear and vanish while the breakers curve. As the water recedes it does so at a rapid pace which opens opportunities for rips and rides or both.

PATCH: Still storm riddled and directionally challenged by current swell. No true rollers of consequence but something to test the balance and wobble along for feet rather than yards. This space may not be the place today, but keep an open and watchful eye as better days lie ahead.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Today I will be kind to every living creature.” - Mikao Usui

An occasion of calm after the storms. Low cloud cover and heavy humidity hangs above while temps hover just over 50 degrees. Open spaces and brand new faces attempting to find higher perches from which to gaze upon the seas. As we reach the morning high tide the excess water just brings disappointment and flooding of the ramp. Peaks of some consequence are just beyond the jagged shore but some skillful maneuvering will be required to access.

CHANNEL:  A lone ray of sun pierces the mist for only a moment as if to illuminate our hopes and desires. Large W swell focusing along the Channel bars and combined with extreme high tide. The combo is intriguing and beguiling all at once with size apparent and form evasive.

PATCH: If any action is to be harvested from this location it will require extreme patience and proper positioning as the bounty is thin and the water levels elevated. Keep a watchful eye on the tides and pray for future slides and rides.

“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.” - Tim Cahill

A break in the rain which has fallen unabated with intent to douse, flood and soak. Mingled with strong S winds and high early tides can only be a determined mess. Use caution, wisdom and a conservative approach to your outdoor activities and any driving as roads are perilous and Mother Nature is unleashing this week.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There is no possession more valuable than a good and faithful friend.” - Socrates

Extra gray with rain and wind, calls for more time spent under warm cozy covers. Gazing out through clear streaming water marked windows gathering the strength to face the elements of today. Armed with slickers and hunter boots, off we go to feast our eyes on how well the ocean is dancing to the beat of today’s storm. Ghost town empty streets as streams run down the sides with debris up the ramp. A day to spend time reflecting from the inside out while crystal’s recharge outside for energy.

CHANNEL:  New S swell in the water as the W swell remains primary and temps are a cold 50. Swells are at odds against each other, clashing like titans against the 15 knot wind. Stinging rain, forcing its way down, its hard to keep eyes wide open to take in the ominous view. Not a day for anyone, at any level to be out on the water. Today is yet another day we stay thirsty.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

PATCH: Well, you’re windy and wild. You’ve got the blues. I’m in your shoes and stockings. You’re windy and wild, oh ya.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Dreams don’t have deadlines. Believe in yourself.” - L.L. Cool J

Atmospheric disturbances forming upward as we brace ourselves for what is to come. Temperatures hovering at 50 with humidity climbing at 78%. A familiar perception on all 5 senses as we have just been here not too long ago. Protective slick clothing worn in layers to combat against rain and wind visible on the horizon. Hunker down and ride it out is the answer to most questions today.

CHANNEL:  Newish WNW swell buoy readings on paper, though have yet to materialize in reality. Don’t let the 20 second swell periods fool you, as there is no real size or form, to the left or right. A sea of sloppy soupy white water mess mixed with wind is the main course on today’s menu. No one out, and two crazy warriors who have returned from the oceans disturbance are left wondering if the head pounding was actually worth it.

PATCH: The numerology essence of the number 18 has to do with humanitarianism, independence, and building something of lasting benefit. It independently decides what its goals are and what to do to reach them. When 18 makes a decision about its goals, 18 will either enlist the cooperation of others or do the actions itself to accomplish its vision. 18 is tolerant and compassionate, mixing well with others, yet tends to do the actions of what it considers the most important either by itself or as the leader.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Let nothing be lost upon you. Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing.” - Oscar Wilde

Gray overhead with pink filtered rosy hues peeking out to say hello. An easy breeze floats on, ruffling feathers on our winged friends cruising by. A chill 48 as the much anticipated storm is playing hard to get and everyone is kept guessing as to when. Groups of morning dawn patrol warriors gather and believe this may be the last chance for salty slides for some time. With a little luck and determination, those who are desperately thirsty may have a sip, though are left parched at the end.

CHANNEL:  W swell has come way down, with no peaks nor valleys and sand bars are nonexistent. White and frothy ocean slog trudging through at a snails pace, leaving nothing to the imagination. No one out and all hopefuls remain on the wall, left with more questions than answers.

PATCH: Hallucination: /huh-loo-suh-ney-shuhn/ : noun : A sensory experience of something that does not exist outside of the mind. A false notion or impression of reality.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“You are the sky. The clouds are what happens, what comes and goes.” - Eckhart Tolle

Witch’s Brew through and through but the weather portal has opened to clearing skies and no rain. Clouds have vaporized to allow a reprieve and portions of sun to shine. Winds are mindful from the NE and temp steady at 54F. Newish NW swell with overnight jump up has the warriors crowding the coast and frothing for stoke. Dozens of bodies in states of undress and neoprene cladding deciding on the lesser of two evils as they prepare to paddle out. Middling tides keep access submerged and water movements require a watchful eye.

CHANNEL:  Solid forms though lacking in shape and clarity is the dominant paradigm. Unclean and potentially mean with energy bursts filling the spectrum. Recently calmed winds from previous storm cycle may not have a chance to groom the unruly seas before the next deluge arrives. Those determined to go will prevail if they abide by the charts and have souls full of joy.

PATCH: There’s nothing left here to remind me just the memory of your face. But to wait for you is all I can do and that’s what I’ve got to face. Take a good look at me now, cause I’ll be standing here. And you coming back to me is against all odds, it’s the chance I’ve got to take.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Learning never exhausts the mind.” - Leonardo da Vinci

Coastal overcast and renewed SW winds as we gaze upon an unruly sea. Little of consequence apparent with only the most desperate of sliders out and about. A trio of regular stalwarts stand in judgement and observation seeking stimulus to suit up. Temp reasonable at 55F but more rain and storms feel likely in the near future.

CHANNEL:  While patient observation does not yield shapes there is clearly movement borne by residual swell and on-shore gusts. Migration forwards is certainly attainable but there is not the charge upon which we rely. The actions this morning are tattered and torn but not without minute hope of recovery.

PATCH: A changing vantage point does next to nothing to improve the view. What is discerned has very little shape or form. No attempts at slides or rides even with tidal volumes thoughtfully managed. One must keep a resilient eye to the west for better days are to come, eventually.
