Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Different is good.  When someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up and be proud." - Angelina Jolie

Blazing big ball of yellow sherbet gazing down as trees sway and dance in the wind.  A cool 54 feeling much cooler against the winds breeze.  Vacated parking showing signs of priorities of the working variety.  Those with salty to-do's on check lists, sit, watch and wait to what's in store for the day.  Perfect timing is the key to unlock stoke and bliss for the day.

CHANNEL:  Off shore wind casting back spray off micro shin slow moving formations.  NW swell draining out with low tide this morning and showing little force.  Three neoprene super heroes can be seen with squinted eyes on the Sea Drift side catching shin high fun.  As the tide turns and more water fills in, a tiny peak in the Channel proper could hold the answer to what you are looking for.  Sit tight and wait for now.

PATCH:  Motionless:  /mosh(e)nles/ - adjective - not moving; stationary.  Synonyms: unmoving, stock-still, not moving a muscle, rooted to the spot or transfixed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Don't sit and wait.  Get out there, feel life.  Touch the sun, and immerse in the sea" - Rumi

Blue brilliance above as the golden sun basks in all her glory.  The only fog to speak of are from waking dizzy heads searching for last nights ending.  Slight memories of bbq ashes, tacho bar munchies and mason jar glasses creep back to minds with smiling faces.  Friends old and new brought together to break bread, celebrate life and welcome summer.  As outside temps are off to a balmy start at 56 with hopes of blue water rinses to lift the fog.  Heed the internal call the ocean is sending and make the journey to where the land meets the sea.

CHANNEL:  Exposed sand bars making the perfect foundation for early fishermen casting their lines.  To little water for any action anywhere, as the NW and SW swell are no where to be found with the negative morning tide.  Slow frothy white water creeping in to make it's mark on shore.  No one out except those who are walking on shore fulfilling their vitamin D requirements.  With fingers and toes crossed, those wait in patience for the tide to turn in hopes of something.

PATCH:  The meeting rock is waving the white flag on flat surfaces.  Boards of the stand up variety are out in full force taking advantage of the horizontal playing field.  No motion or commotion to speak of as morning meditation is the alternative for all that you seek.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerable uncertainty; not knowing what comes next." - Ursula K. Le Guin

Sunshine, sunshine! Temperatures start warm and promise to skyrocket as we look forward to another cloudless, glorious day. For this morning, goals and dreams start low - lower than that - and once they've hit the ground we are allowing them to rise with the sun. Depletion in content and force leave days past a memory but the future holds a build in both as tides change and a multivariable WNW/NW swell builds into the mix. Grab everything, forget most things and join the jolly.

CHANNEL:  Say hello to sand bars, and goodbye to everything else besides the local fisherman. Occupied by more practical hobbies as the morning rolls through. Sights to see, including the striking glow of our favorite sky partner off the water, and fellas throwing lines. Check-in later for blocks of humans floating and a cruisy roll through.

PATCH:  A patchwork of grumbling ground, a graveyard from near to pretty far, and yet....yes there it is: droplets of human beans scrambling for the bump that will lead them to glory. Stay calm, prepare for some waiting and relish in the happenings of the occasional knee high.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Sometimes the best things are right in front of you; it just takes some time to see them ." -  Gladys Knight

Beauty to behold as the sun has fully risen and encounters no blockages.  Temps start just a bit cooler at 51F and wind is a non-issue.  Smoothness across the far horizon with only minor undulations and negative water levels.  Again the matter at hand is the low tide which reveals all but with consequences.  Declining NW windswell still at the ready while the SW swell apparatus remains poised for later action.

CHANNEL:  All churned up and nothing to ride.  Sun kissed and golden with warmth.  NW windswell has shown its true nature here but water levels must rise to acceptable in order to slide.  Sandbars are settled and holding true to form.  Post lunch look see should be on the agenda.

PATCH:  Sweeper tribunal well out the back keeping it tidy and smooth for afternoon activities.  Precursor blips from the SW swell can be seen but not yet ridden due to absence of tide and rock replacements.  Try wait a few hours while the pump primes.  Seeing is always believing.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth." -  Pearl S. Buck

Sunny and clear with your early temp at 56F.  Light ESE winds and wide open spaces to range and explore.  A vacated presence is felt with cars, people and water clearly absent from the scene.  NW swell is a fading quick hitter but needs afternoon waters to reveal its true nature.  Fledgling SW swell just in germination stage and may well provide some later stoke.  The early ballots are being cast and the results are too soon to predict.

CHANNEL:  Bait balls and pelicans.  Fishing poles and tall boys.  Pick your pleasure but keep your board primed for later diversions.  Now you can walk on water because it has all been replaced with sand.

PATCH:  Slack tide depletes the sector of the lifeblood required.  New SW swell may just have enough juice to kick-start the afternoon festivities.  Time will tell as it always does.  What you do with the empty moments between is your true measure.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you want to lift yourself up, lift someone else up." -  Booker T. Washington

Slight haze on the driving maze now giving way to sunlight and warmth.  No winds to speak of and temp comes in at 55F.  The midweek is already upon us and it feels like the weekend just ended.  Open spaces and empty places along the corridor and playa as low tide morning keeps it sedated.  Solid NW swell looking for room to roam and range but requiring more water than currently available.  S swell is gone but residual energy remains in small quotients.

CHANNEL:  Too low.  No go.  All sands exposed and agitated in the early negative tides.  Stop to stare but don't dare try unless you ride a finless paipo.  Hefty swell numbers should translate in the later part of the day during the pm hours in general.

PATCH:  Divested of all waters but not humans.  More slab and stone than not but way out the back there remains an enticing peak if you seek exercise in near futility.  All the named rocks are out in full glory if you want to map them out for future reference.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt" -  John Muir

Bright, blue and clear as far as the eye can see with mild temps at 55.  It's a Monday on a Tuesday as we welcome the short work week.  On the way to where the sand meets the sea, over night car campers are holding on to parking spaces with hopes of a less crowded line up than yesterday.  As the soothing lapping sound of water greets grains of sand, a relief of open space is all around.  Enjoy the silence.

CHANNEL:  Channel Island fully exposed as the negative morning tide just peaked.  Warm sand from full sun and cool water temps at 53.  Small white water dumps with little form as the NW swell is lacking in energy for now.  As the secondary SSW swell builds by afternoon with more water, Mali-Bo may just have a chance.  For now, choose your longest log in hopes of catching the mellow shin high waves that are currently meandering through.

PATCH:  Rocky bottoms and tops pointing diving pelicans in the right direction for breakfast treats.  Morning meetings have been canceled at the meeting rock as all systems are down for now.  From what I hear, Mother Nature is currently working on the situation and by late afternoon the kinks should be worked out.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The value of friendship and just deep human contact grows out of giving." -  Patch Adams

Giant, amazingly bright and yellow morning sun rise warming all around with light.  Calm, still and quiet as those who took advantage of Sunday being a Saturday are sleeping off last night's adventures.  It's a special day, this Monday.  Look up to the sky with a smile and give heat felt thanks to those who served.  Today we honor those who gave their all, so we could have our everything.  Home of the free, because of the brave.

CHANNEL:  Low water levels this morning exposing sand bars and the groin wall.  An on shore breeze creating textured surfaces for the three fishermen out casting their lines.  Slow to wake up NW swell rolling in at a snails pace.  Shin high in the Channel proper as one lone kayaker hunts and gathers.

PATCH:  Foggy horizon seeping it's way to shore blanketing exposed rocks and sand.  Far outlines are not what they seem to be, creating confusion and tired arms.  Inside is the right side for quick rides and slides.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Be brave.  Take risks.  Nothing can substitute experience." -  Paulo Coelho

Still and veiled gray overlay playing hide and seek with the sun.  A chilly 50 as hints of temps rising to 68 by afternoon.  Parking non-existent as overnight campers are stationed in prime position.  Slow wake ups over coffee while reliving muddied stories of last nights shinnagians.  Ahhhhh, three day weekends, how we have missed you so!  The jukebox in the corner is blastin' my favorite song, the nights are getting warmer, it won't be long till summer comes and the boys are back in town.

CHANNEL:  Crumble mumbles left over from the NW swell as a secondary SSW lies in waiting.  White water slow to push through like thick pea soup in the shin high range.  Texture on the surface from overnight winds creating hard to read lines.  Currently three morning warriors out getting in a hard upper arm workout.

PATCH:  Ask, believe and receive.  Pay no attention to what seems to be small in size, keep your eye on the prize and good times can be had by all. Try left or go right, maybe go both ways, you never know, you might just like it.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life." -  Mark Twain

Overcast though dry and the lightest hint of NE winds that may provide some clarity.  Temp of 54F and initially calm though seething just below the surface.  Swell combos fade but remain committed to the cause.  Car campers crack the dawn to do the dance and the shimmy shuffle.  Maximum density will soon be achieved.  Seek higher elevations for best viewing angles.

CHANNEL:  Steep and deep NW windswell has the juice and wants to run loose.  Loosely organized lefts off the 2 sandbars are positioned to pop with peaks of perpetual motion.  Size is a vast range in proportion to swinging tides.  Now the incoming lends a hand and has waist high entities being engaged.

PATCH:  Five days you work, one whole day to play.  Come on everybody wear your roller skates today.  It's Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, it's Saturday.  Saturday it's Saturday, Saturday it's Saturday.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Don't gain the world and lose your soul; wisdom is better than silver or gold." -  Bob Marley

Overnight rains currently abated but skies remain somber and overcast and likely to let loose again.  Light SW winds adding a note of texture to the mix as swells wind down but still produce a vibrant offering.  Bare feet on dampened streets with a steady stream of seekers on the prowl. Temp at 55F and predicted clearing not until the latter portion of the day.  This is the weekend to kick out the jams and let it all hang out.

CHANNEL:  Plenty of west in the NW windswell and tides are drawn up to perfect levels.  Sandbars have regrouped and fortified to construct lefts of merit and some size.  Tattered tops from nighttime storms but not a deterrent to the opportunities presented.  Take what is tendered and make the most of it.

PATCH:  Activated but no longer audacious though SW swell remains.  Wind protected and smoother than others with loggers finding footing upon breakers broken and otherwise.  Morning high tide keeps it widespread and variable.  Softer speeds requiring the bigger boards and optimistic heights of waist high may be achieved upon enlightenment.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Failure is success if we learn from it." -  Malcolm Forbes

A grey resolve though dry and calm.  Tepid temp of 55F and not a breath of wind.  Word of refurbished swells brings the heavies out for a quick spin cycle.  Mobile locals take a more reasoned approach with slow walks and java mugs.  NW windswell expands while SW groundswell grows exponentially.  Tides show no detrimental extremes.  Determine your course of action and head that direction.

CHANNEL:  A fully appropriate NW windswell moves up a tick on the growth chart.  Invested rippers seek the cylindrical lefts that now revolve along the Channel and Groin bars.  No connections are able to be made but individually each breaker can stand on its own.  High tide just now peaked and not looking to slow down under full water levels.  Take the shorty and shred.

PATCH:  Cetacean watch from a distance continues as tidal highs may show a shift in locus.  SW swell don't stop and won't stop and early action is already well regarded.  Calm winds have things slicked back and smoothed out.  Movements well out the back and spread all through the range with size allowing for waist up to chest high faces.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant." -  Robert Louis Stevenson

Rain of a drizzled variety to whet appetites and dampen streets.  Temp holds steady and ready at 54F and wind is a non factor.   Heavy cloud cover above and low lying mists among the forests.  Stoke factors are aligning and the density of parked cars and seekers in the water attests to this.  Let it percolate and ferment a bit to help round out the flavor - then taste.

CHANNEL:  Lightly populated with NW windswell and retreating tide on task to create breakers.  A determined duo hangs close to the inner Groin bar in hopes of the rare clean offering on which to push limits.  The selections are few but no crowd to share with.  Shoddy slides going only left in the moment.

PATCH:  Backed by a dimensional S swell and higher tides the majority of sliders migrate here.  A baker's dozen and then some heading up and over the break-walls to access the inevitable.  Portioned and positioned in obscure areas.  Needs a moment to pass and allow for settling before the good vibes and high fives flow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You may not always end up where you thought you were going, but you will always end up where you were meant to be." -  Jessica Taylor

Sheets of gray overcast muting the sun rising and a cool 50 degrees.  Morning chatter from walkers by discussing current events as car commuters roll on through.  Open parking spots giving way to racing school children on bikes filled with laughter.  Water lapping can be heard before being seen as the tides are ever shifting.  Once down the ramp to the entrance of the sea, a sense of familiar calm washes over like a warm thick blanket.  Take a deep breath with open eyes in wonder of nature's beauty.

CHANNEL:  Out going current churning against the NW swell creating confusing wave direction and formation.  Lacking in energy and power, white water is nearly at a stand still as waves try to turn over in the shin height.  Currently three out trying to stay in position with tired arms and cold legs.

PATCH:  A five member tribe gathered far outside and missing the beat.  Those who are tuned in, know the bass hits inside to the right.  Looks can be deceiving and sometimes it's best to not follow the crowd.  Dance to the beat of your own drum instead of going with the flow.  Knee enlightenment will be sure to follow.

Bright and blazing sun salutations with a crisp and clear blue sky.  Morning song birds chanting tunes as baby deer make their way to breakfast.  Calm with no wind in sight making way for the beginning of the new week.  A balmy 48 with promise of temps climbing to 68 by mid-day.  It's the start of a brand new week, one filled with endless possibilities and new adventures.  Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

CHANNEL:  Outgoing NW swell uncovering sand bars in the Channel as sun reflections cause blinding sight to those who look.  Through squinted eyes, one can see much less energy in the water with slow crumbling waves inching forward in the shin height.  Absolutely no wind with glassy surfaces makes for a beautiful start to the morning.  Once the negative tide turns around in the afternoon, waves should shape up to be nice rides and slides.

PATCH:  Calm and glassy warm mirror reflections as the meeting rock waves hello.  One lone single fin on the outside bobbing for seaweed to pass time.  Hints of lines rolling in with no water to fully form.  Take this as a sign to use this time to complete check-lists and to-do's as once the ocean fills the rocky void, fun can be had by all.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The only thing in the world you can change is yourself and that makes all the difference in the world" -  Cher

Bursts of wind coming and going as the gray is here to stay.  Trees square dancing in patterns with temps starting at a cool 52.  Calm commotion camper wake ups with conversations of negative tides over parking lot coffee.  Dog walkers taking advantage of prime sand position as furry friends rejoice in the space to run.  Hurry up to wait is the name of the game this morning.

CHANNEL:  Leftover NW swell lingering as a secondary SSW swell hangs like a wallflower.  Negative tide peaking this morning, keeping the waves and energy at bay.  Small formations in across the board in the shin height.  Three amigos currently floating out with the out going tide.

PATCH:  Dawn patrol convening at the meeting rock this morning, discussing the dawn of the new day.  Rides and slides in the knee high range are kept short by sharp rocky obstacles.  If time permits, claim the perfect sandy spot to play drums and harps in tune.  As the water fills in the cracks and work up appetites; looking forward to a little afternoon delight.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Learn everything you can with you mind, then forget it all and listen to your intuition." -  Zoe Hawes

Some clearing here and there but not yet everywhere though NE winds attempt to sweep the clouds away.  Early temps of 54F and may add 10 more degrees over the course of the day.  Calm, collected and drained is the name of the game as each morning this week presents itself with a negative low tide.  All swells remain active but elusive under the low water conditions.  Follow CT to the promised land but remember - No Names!

CHANNEL:  Residual NW windswell hangs tough and finds a way to navigate through.  Any sandbar with water coverage is ripe for breakers but current conditions keep it limited.  Chopped up and left for the mop up early crew as their hours don't coordinate with Mother Ocean this day.  Afternoons have been playfully fun.

PATCH:  A triangle of open faced rocks as a cairn to where one should aspire to be.  Instead find the deepest marker well out the back and sit patiently for SW pulsations to return.  The morning wait time rivals the DMV.  Evenings have been windy and cool but consistent and plentiful as the ocean gives after it takes away.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." -  Confucius

Evening gusties played havoc with the senses and pushed the boundaries of psychological emotion.  Fog and damp now surround and leaves the morning blurred between reality and the sacred geometry of being.  Calmer forces do prevail with temp notched at 53F and light N winds to smooth the texture.  SW swell remains effective but better suited to water levels above zero.  NW windswell depleting but still making its bid to attract your attention.  Private contemplation and inner consultation time is now.

CHANNEL:  With the negative lows still reaching for underground depths the options remain fully focused on the little Groin bar left.  Not nearly as churned as the other territories and firmly situated to receive this current NW swell.   As the water returns, expectations will rise to meet that level and new opportunities will present themselves.

PATCH:  Glassy in the mist with hunched figures in black biding their time.  Like giant humanoid kelp balls they bob and weave well outside the normal realm of existence.  Again the low tide has morning more stone and bone but does provide a measure of calm before the multitudes arrive.  SW swell still firing on all cylinders but the fuel required doesn't arrive until 2pm.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"We are the opening verse of the opening pages of the chapter of endless possibilities." -  Rudyard Kipling

The sweet sound of silence.  A risen sun confronts a sky full of blue.  Winds stay down and out and temp is 54F.  Dripping suits and strewn boards the remainders of evening activities with most participants staying snuggled in their cocoon.  Swells from all angles remain active and entrenched.  Water temps have moved up a few clicks back into the comfort zone.  Again the morning is surrounding by negative low tides and decisions must be made but not in a timely manner.

CHANNEL:  A little backhand grinder the benefit of low tide and NW windswell.  Thigh high and in for the speed ride with regularity and shape.  The Groin bar revisited under dubious conditions but smooth and rideable if you desire.  Bro, do you even prone?

PATCH:  Stockpiles of rock piles for miles as the negative reaches for new lows.  S swell still pulsating and pushing water but deviated from its norm while searching for adequate areas to engage.  Transferred to outside the meeting rock and on the southern side of the range.  Peaks and small pockets now but time and tide will significantly improve the outcomes.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Weak people revenge.  Strong people forgive.  Intelligent people ignore." -  Albert Einstein

Bright lights made of sunshine and rainbows as skies clear early and capacity for warmth is detected.  No winds of note and temp readies at 52F and climbing.  A settled mid-week countenance with early risers sliding on the negative tide.  Those with experience brew java and wait for more water to breathe life into the ocean.  A short period of self examination and followed by increased devotion to the stoke.

CHANNEL:  A beneficiary of an engaged NW swell though minus water levels give no quarter.  Lefts shifted along the Groin pole northern regions will suffice until something better reveals itself.  Check in moved back to noon for the best rates and options.

PATCH:  Low low tide but still some glide with take off territory pushed well outside.  Find the meeting rock then head SW to depths of adequacy.  Inner district is strewn with rock and stone and unsuitable for finned boards.  Steeper S swell still filtering in but more water would make the scene supreme and that will be among the afternoon hours.
