Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Be open to learning new lessons, even if they contradict the lessons you learned yesterday.” - Ellen DeGeneres

Wet muddy patterns and slick streets from over night rain, as fog blankets start to crack releasing beams of yellow sun. Humidity high, damp and warm, we begin the first day of the Lunar Year Rat at 58. Busy, busy, the streets are full with waiting games underway for those seeking space. Larry and Coco saunter across the wall, hoping to disturb three goats in view as conversations of “when is high tide today” the main topic on mind. If you’re here you might as well go and if you’re not, then you better get here before late afternoon.

CHANNEL: Mushy, mushy happenings as mid-tide is swollen and washing out the W swell from peaking. Rollers in the thigh range with a lackadaisical attitude, refusing to carry anyone to shore. Three people out looking right at the masses gathered at the clam patch.

PATCH: Too many black dots to count as most vie for position not knowing where to start. Keep your hands to yourselves and remember where you are if you want to be invited back to play. All for one and one for all, as knee slappers roll the dice to see who will take their chances.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The friend is the one who knows all about you, and still likes you.” - Elbert Hubbard

The lightest of overnight rains and now early fog. Grey skies linger as the sunrise sensation is put on hold this morning. Temps are moderate at 58F and the winds have some early S tendencies but for now remain calm. Eager ambassadors toting all manner of water craft prime themselves while others circle endlessly in search of proximal parking. Due W and heavy swell agitating the ocean in all areas the eyes can scan. And the stories you hear, you know they never add up. I hear the natives fussing at the data chart. Be quiet, the weather’s on the nightly news.

CHANNEL: No one can get you if you’re caught on a wave. Fractured knees, calamities. Enfold me in serenity. And loud cloud crowds are taking over. Baby come on.

PATCH: Have paddle, will travel as a heady mix of carbon fiber and molded plastic makes the first incursions to the outside shapes. Incoming tide pushing and pulsing to new heights. Forms loom in the fog but are of a questionable nature and debate. Easy access now, not so much later.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” - Confucius

A paradigm shift in weather and swell and all parking is but a memory. Epic sunrise with only nature as the filter sets the morning on fire while the early sliding is well underway. The glowing orb brings a measure of warmth with temps of 55F and the winds are forgotten and quiet. All manner of motion and fury as sliders race the clock and incoming tide to feast upon a new dose from the WSW. The promise of more is not guaranteed so waiting will only lead to unrealized outcomes.

CHANNEL: Neither here nor there but everywhere as shifted bars and new orientations produces an aquatic ADHD. The ramp of death is a veritable gumbo of stone, sand, branch and chaos that must be navigated to obtain entry to the stoke house. Perspective is everything and yours should gravitate to directly out in front and slightly to the north to realize sweet sensations nearing chest high.

PATCH: A few outside options exist in the court of the crimson king and figures bearing foam are upon it in mass exploration mode. Whether it be fantasy or reality depends on one’s ultimate outlook. Lower tidal levels should offer improvement though the season says to temper expectations and enjoy what is bestowed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” - George Bernard Shaw

Forgotten floaters fished and returned to land as the day unravels with regular insanity. Early dimpled skies remain dry and welcoming with temp of 55F and ENE winds to smooth and warm cold hearts. Due W swell as the primary promoter and the lineup is spatially dotted to allow for contemplative spacing. Value what is given and never forsake the ocean’s gifts. Mind the floating banana as it remains elusively out of rescue.

CHANNEL: Not a deep lineup but one that feels at home in less than stellar conditions. A marginal mash of swell reverberating over splayed sandbars makes for opportunities where you make them. A rising tide has just yet peaked and rains splashings down upon all that venture close. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the tide runs and drains until less than zero will remain in the afternoon hours and again a shift will occur.

PATCH: Recently weather washed and tattered yet the early winds do no harm. Uneven surfaces upon which to expend your energy. Too much water and mis-aligned swell is the likely cause for the languishing effects observed and felt.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Intellectuals solve problems, geniuses prevent them .” - Albert Einstein

Darkened gray sky behind gusts of strong wind as rain free falls downwards, washing away sunny memories of days past. Surging water up the ramp with debris in tow, creating a natural sign; closed, do not enter. From Overlook the vision is clear as white caps travel sideways through sheets of rain falling. Mother Nature has spoken, and the message is simple.

CHANNEL: Like a washing machine left on spin cycle, the Channel churns and burns against the wind and rain. No form, nor resemblance of anything as the storm rages on throughout the day. Inside where it’s dry and warm is the best side to be for today.

PATCH: Abandon all hope ye who enter.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

Silent stillness, vertical trees etch out patterns within mornings silver gray shadows, as we begin Sunday on a Monday. Cotton candy silver blues off in the horizon, standing still, taking a moment in time, to honor the great Martin Luther King Jr., and all he stands for. A deep breath of reflection slowly interrupted as the ocean reaches the wall creating reflection waves with the outgoing tide. Surfaces have smoothed, only tiny ruffles remain, as winter sand bars have shifted.

CHANNEL: Tidy and cleaner than yesterday, right of the pole to the boat ramp is where the games are being played. Beach breakers in the knee to thigh range turning over quickly before white water crumbles to shore. Angled take offs a must, unless going over the falls is the personal goal. An extra paddle or two won’t hurt either.

PATCH: Still and silent, the Patch, she lays in waiting for the ocean to come calling.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“A positive attitude and a sense of humor go together like biscuits and gravy.” - Dolly Parton

Early morning air currents whip through tree limbs under a thick blanket of gray, littering surfaces with fauna flora. Parking at capacity as most gather to the wall, scratching heads and confused with the reveal. Walls of back spray, fly off into oblivion as off shore winds take control of the wheel. Lumpy and bumpy, churning in all directions, the starting point could be the finish line or somewhere in between.

CHANNEL: Suited, booted and hooded, a bakers dozen gather out front the ramp, fighting against Mother Nature. Channel proper blown out from the 15 knot off shore wind, leaving no chance of the W swell to break through. Beach breakers in the messy knee height out front of the ramp are the slim pickings for those who try.

PATCH: Frothy white, disorganized with little direction, the Patch, she seems indecisive. It is everything you need, if it is what you are looking for.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” - Theodore Roosevelt

A sliver of moon, purple smudged horizon and an early quietude in the coastal town they forgot to close down. Slightly unsettled weather with temp now at 49F and sunshine enrichment. NE breezes puffing along a wide range of parameters. Wall gawkers and fast talkers dominate the early hours as contemplation and rumination takes hold. Swell angles have shifted and drifted and are having trouble locating an applicable point of arrival. Those donning the neoprene do so in passive fashion as the search for stoke has begun.

CHANNEL: No mad scrabble for the Channel sits in stillness while the tide takes shape. Forms of minimum size are constituted yet possibly hidden under much water. Swells have dropped in amplitude and the options remain slim though better than none.

PATCH: A small slide piece appears and dissolves in a lonely place as the Patch currently sits vacant. A clear and clean option though not without long periods of slack and placid waters. Keep and eye on the prize and an ear to the ticking clock for today’s tides swing high and low without a care for your nourishment needs.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Start where you are, with what you have. Make something out of it and never be satisfied.” - George Washington Carver

A pervasive chill takes hold and damp surrounds. Mist fills the air but the skies have cleared with an announcement of sun. Temp rings true at 40F and the winds remain quieted. The gallery atop concrete walls speculate on uncertain futures while the now passes us all by. Tides are dropping as the morning becomes electric and may dash what small amounts of hope is present. Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.

CHANNEL: Quantifiable breakers in unusual places as directly out front is the main court of play. Ragged shapes and residual energies expand and contract in fragments. The moments between offer time for weighing of options, though few yield externally positive results. Those in touch within may have the most meaningful experience.

PATCH: A determined duo are distant shadows on crafts built for traversing. The possibility exists though only in mere fractions of squall driven pulses from the SW. A lowered sense of expectation and awareness of surroundings may bear the slice of stoke you seek.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“We can never know what might have been but what is to come is another matter entirely.” - C. S. Lewis

As predicted and determined heavy winds and rain are upon us. Gale force gusts rage onshore and push it along en route to a forgotten paradise. Wind whipped terrain on land and at sea casts bleak shadows and ominous vibes. Temps have come up a notch to 45F but outside is inhospitable at the present moment. A day full of promises un-kept and destinations unmet.

CHANNEL: Howling winds and stratospheric threads sweep down from above to spoil any party plans. All hopes are dashed as the seas are a miasma of despair and desperation. Churned and chopped with little semblance of surf and devoid of any humans.

PATCH: Barren and dark like so many hearts on a morning such as this. A broken and wind mauled seascape causes most to avert their eyes as if witnessing a crime. No approach is warranted today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” - Anais Nin

Wet hissing announcements under moving rubber, breaks dawns silence early. Cleansed and crisp, the air smell fresh from over nights rains, leaving humidity high and temps at 40. Puddles fill spaces in between painted white lines while the gate remains open for those who may enter. From shore out to sea, the sun shines with her almighty glory, as twinkle lights from glassy surfaces left to right. The playground is open!

CHANNEL: Glassy and calm, NW swell coming in chill and mellow. Angled formations right of the pole across to the ramp curling in knee slappers delight. Leave the potato chips at home for an afternoon snack, for logs are the only mode of transportation. First come first served and no one out trying.

PATCH: 19 is an extraordinary number. It is a prime number, which means it is only divisible by itself and number 1. Number 19 carries the power of number 1 as well as number 9. In simple words, this number represents the completion of the task that will take you to the new beginning.

“The only limit to success is your own imagination.” - Shonda Rhimes

Over night rains, giving way to dampened streets as the golden sun makes her grand entrance above the great blue yonder. Chimneys signaling early communications as the big chill begins at 40. Packs of friends, the four legged variety, make their way down the ramp as the climbing tide coats paws with briny layers. Alphas trailing behind, climb upwards to bask in the sun with dry feet and coffee in hand. With eyes closed for a moment or two, warm vitamin D cleanses the skin and feeds the soul, giving energy to begin the journey.

CHANNEL: Refreshed and smooth from the night’s rain showers, ocean surfaces are limber with the incoming currents. White water blankets Channel proper as the W swell crumbles forward. Shapes in the knee just right of the pole the single offering at present time. A single seal, the only soul out, plays and tumbles with delight.

PATCH: Half of a half dozen stand up crew, dig their sticks deep for angled forward motion. Every few minutes, Mother Nature lends a helping hand as white water nips at ankles of those who try. It’s not the size of the wave that counts.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Unclose your mind. You are not a prisoner. You are a bird in flight, searching the skies for dreams.” - Haruki Murakami

Muted shades of amber yellow rise above, as prism refraction’s beam through dew drops frozen in time. Frigid crisp as we begin the day at 39 with temps not climbing beyond 51. Parking games well underway, as rumors of swell falsely traveled by word of mouth has made landfall. Textured and ruffled, goose bumped, ocean surfaces lunge forward with the swinging tide. Opportunity for easy access is fading fast, until this afternoon.

CHANNEL: Ruffled and bumpy from an easy breeze as W wind swell rolls in with the tide. Thigh high for one and two, as three and four hits knee. Two dozen out swirling with the current, trying to get one more in before high tide reigns king. Look left before heading right and don’t forget your safety circle.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” - Emile Zola

Sweet Serenity in the early hours after an overnight rinsing that leaves all surfaces cleansed. The skies have cleared with only cloud wisps and the winds are not activated or engaged. Temp sits precisely at 45F and will crack just into the mid 50s but not much more. Windswells and waning W swells are all that remain but they have translated into a smoothness that begs beauty. Size is the lesser of all body parts and the tide has not yet reached apex and therefore allows easy entry.

CHANNEL: Tempered and chilled out with easy vibes in the early dead calm. Slides to the right lead the way and journeys across to Seadrift are available options as well. The range of seascape remains mostly uncovered yet the tide grows in height as the minutes tick by. Being early is better than being late.

PATCH: A kayak, SUP and longboard walk into a bar……………….

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“A positive attitude gives you power over your circumstances instead of your circumstances having power over you.” - Joyce Meyer

Ramp dancers and true romancers as we trade the rain for clear, cold and windless. Temp of 45F yet the skies are a kaleidoscope of color and hold the promise of warmth. Morning tide peaks and sweeps the graded concrete clear of resting bodies and debris. Parking begins to thin with intelligence based objective to obtain early slides and stoke partitions. The masses make mad dashes but use the inner crystal to align intentions and consult the charts for real time, crucial data.

CHANNEL: Soon to be too much water but collaborative swells are making for interesting areas to reveal their hidden sandbars. Entry and exit plans are required for the AM hour activities while the afternoon is ripe for long walks on fully exposed beaches and tide pool observations.

PATCH: Slappy hour in the early morning with nothing moving forward in any coalesced direction. Random clean faces give rise to second glances but for now it remains un-encumbered. The tide fills and sucks so if windows do open they will also quickly close.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“When you have a dream, you’ve got to grab it and never let go.” - Carol Burnett

The furies do blow and the sky has reopened and leaked overnight rains. Temps have risen to 53F and sun is visible in portions. Winds are ready and steady from the SE though may calm during the later hours. As per the conditions, parking is plentiful and there are no crowds. Tides swing far and wide with extremes at both ends of the spectrum. There are no sliders upon the whitewashed seas at present but that may change in time.

CHANNEL: A lone sentinel. A forsaken and empty lineup. A beach verging on submerged.

PATCH: If you’re waiting for the wind, it’s already here. If you’re waiting for the tide to change, you are too late. None are embarking though hard stares have been offered.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.” - Bruce Lee

White and glistening roof tops sparkle as the sun melts away the silent night visit from Jack Frost. Temps begin at 40, feeling the chill deep within the shadows. Atop the wall standing, arms stretched, like cormorants feeding off the sun, filling up with vitamin D and warmth storing energy to last the entire day. Constant ebb and flow inching back, tidal swings fade on towards the horizon as one lone neoprene wanderer sets off.

CHANNEL: W swell angled just right and missing Channel proper. Out front of the ramp, rights stand for a moment in knee height before quickly dissolving into white foam. High tide dropping fast and the current window isn’t open for much longer. If salty intentions are what you seek, the time is now, not later.

PATCH: Ruffled flat surfaces creating the perfect canvass for groups of feeding seagulls. The breakfast buffet is open and the lines of feathered friends are long. Try tomorrow, if you’re not already here.
