Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”What sane person could live in this world and not be crazy?” - Ursula K. Le Guin

Chaos on the streets is rising. It’s been momentarily forgotten that the tranquility flees on certain days of the week; where to? I’d like to follow. Cool, cloud covered for but a moment as heightened awareness brings whispers of warmth. To see the sea is to know that what has been given is being got and improvement from last night darkness to this days light has merely been in the way the chaos of wind left us and the gloss of peace has reigned. Countless in this world is not that of abundance but more than our senses are used to; thus it is the countless long period swells that do this world good. Think not big for this is not a language here; rather think of a smile.

CHANNEL: Maybe a shorter slice of pie than you’d like, but left and clean are the names here, now, later, and then. Joyous now, continuing later just more chaos in your bones. Personal space is non-existent. Get to know your neighbor. Dual swells to fill your bowl here, now, later, and then.

PATCH: Momentary lulls and competing angles leave many flailing to be in place. Pick one and understand that trade offs and combinations will work throughout the hours your body moves within this day. A steep S and an impeding SW do a tango; results leave much to give only whispers about. Use your imagination among the lines that are this reality.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Open-mindedness is the harvest of a quiet eye.” - William Wordsworth

Fog to the deck and no breezes of consequence to blow. Temp hovers at 57F and a calm quite prevails. The local shaman has lit his sage and seeks salvation as he gazes upon the seas. Reconfigured swells in non-competitive angles now make the choices more obvious. The tides hold the slider’s fate on this fine day and look to make the later hours a period of frustration and dashed dreams. Pockets of stoke exist and can be fulfilled but the seeker’s eye will be required to illuminate their finding.

CHANNEL: Unshackled swell with a penchant for incoming tide sees the morning lineup fuller than most. The windows of opportunity readily open and close if one does not consult the tables of tide. Mist of mystery making a slalom course of navigation for those on the curl and those paddling forth. Clearing skies will enlighten spirits and visuals but as the water levels rise and fall so do hopes of memorable slides.

PATCH: I said I’m human, but you know I lie. I’m only visiting this shore. I’ll soon be leaving in the outbound tide. I pray again we will meet. I’m wasting your time just talking to you. Maybe best you go on home. I’ll leave you alone, fade from your mind. Slip into the greens and blues. Greens and blues. Greens and blues.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Simple pleasures are the last healthy refuge in a complex world.” - Oscar Wilde

A mix of hopeful elation turns the mind into a collage of static and mixed messages while the sun breeches broken clouds. The number of vehicles parked does not equate with the numbers of explorers upon the sea as villagers take to the waters in the early light. Primary and secondary swells compete to occupy the same spatial parameters and flourish in the fuller waters. Open your mind to the possibilities, focus all chakras on achievement and remember, we are all in this together.

CHANNEL: Breakers un-conflicted in their destiny pour forth from the sea and strike against all sandbars in rotation. The inevitable crash spits froth and spray before depositing sliders and seekers near the shore. There is reason for rejoicing in the current findings as those with the vision can see the opportunities as the hours continue.

PATCH: Most activities occur far from shore and those sans paddle will soon attest. Longer period sets will set the mood from the depths while those racing along the middles will find speed to burn. Mid-body range in height but not packing the punch one would imagine, so logs of magnitude are recommended. This space may be the place and should see a cast of many throughout the morning and into the endless afternoon.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.” - Dale Carnegie

A cool mist blankets the village as we return to semi-normalcy. The winds contain themselves for now and temp climbs slowly up to 55F. The best parts of the previous days seem to have dejectedly departed and left a longing in slider’s hearts. The tidal measures may act as both foil and friend on a day such as this, so take heed, and steel your resolve. Primary swells are starting to uptick on buoy readings which may indicate reason for rejoicing in the later hours.

CHANNEL: Through the fog endless stretches of sand surround the steel marker while concrete remains submerged. Closer inspection finds rubber clad denizens floating within the grey in search of sneaky breakers reaching for shore. Possibilities exist in small quantities. Look towards the time ahead, as though it wasn’t already behind you.

PATCH: From the shore a lone sentinel is barely visible, but just so in the morning subdued light. Endless rotation of limb and carbon fiber yields only disappointment and possibly regret. Shapes are haphazard at best and formless at worst. The mere act of doing must serve as satisfaction in the early hours but as water levels increase one may find a differing perspective and fulfillment upon these same waters.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Occasions when you can change your mind should be cherished, because they mean you’re smarter then you were before.” - Malcolm Gladwell

Resounding silence surrounding open spaces with a hint of gray foggy bottom. Tire patterns click and clank announcing their arrival before sightseeing. Large and yellow with one black middle stripe, brakes screech to a halt before the red hexagon sign is set in place. Traveling cars heed the sign and stop in place, taking a moment of pause. A squeak with a hiss, forward motion begins moving precious cargo towards higher learning while parental figures wave high in the sky. As the dust settles and the air is clear, a sigh of relief can be felt for familiar routines are once again in place. The first sign summer is officially over.

CHANNEL: Gray sleepy cloud covering overhead as one fishing vessel shine bright out yonder. Glassy reflections with a hint of crumbling white water traveling back to sea with the out going tide. WNW slow to show and begin traveling forward to shore in the ankle range. Best to hit the snooze button once more and take another look this afternoon.

PATCH: A single traveler, standing on water, holding a spoon for direction, glides on the horizon searching for forward movement. With no help in sight, the spoon does all the work, scooping the bottom heading to shore. Gracefully gliding upon sand for the dismount, seagulls hunt and peck until the first steps are taken.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” - Confucius

Yellow markings signaling cautionary direction in usual traveled spaces for those with hopes of scoring early. Timing to fit in and find space is all but a memory while the search continues on. Musical grand entrances are announced before the reveal, ending in cheers of joy. A motley crew banded together by the same labor of love, join forces to ring in the last official day of summer. Warm golden hues drench grainy sand in vitamin D crunching under foot with each step taken. The stage is set and ready for all to come partake in Endless Summer.

CHANNEL: Prism rainbows reflecting off the surface as the sun shines on. Low tide bottoming with a new NW swell beginning to arrive in the knee to thigh height. Half a dozen banded together aiming right to go left. Tidal swings creeping in high inching forward taking space by afternoon. A beach day in every sense of the word.

PATCH: Shadows leading the way to paths not taken over rocky shore to far out places. Tiny dots sprinkle the horizon passed the meeting rock, inching forward on lines carved out. Small in size, the morning crew take their pick and leave just enough for others later to arrive. All time is the best time on a three day weekend.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Sometimes I feel like a figment of my own imagination.” - Lily Tomlin

Gray silence blankets movements brought fourth by dawns day light casting no shadows. Misty dewdrops float downward coating groups gathered rehashing last nights current events while cars shuffle forward to move in. Those few who have earned a spot migrate onward down hill, en route towards the briny border. With eyes wide shut, gray curtains divulge no secrets as water moves in silence. Pivoting on remaining sensors, ears and noses begin to guide steps forward into the abyss.

CHANNEL: Thick smoke on the water creating zero line of sight on the horizon. Buoys reading SW, though slow lapping water against the shore is all that can be seen. The smell of salty moisture tickles tiny nose hairs and prickles the skin; a key indication the destination is near. Let the tide be your guide and trust the process come afternoon.

PATCH: Sharp and pointy under foot seemingly for miles ahead while seagulls call dibs on what’s mine. Nature’s labyrinth; a puzzle never solved, sometimes questioned and always treasured, bringing us back for more. The pattern is simple, follow the line and trace your steps.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Sand keeps secrets better than mud” - Ann Patchett

A stubbornness brought forth to demand independence and singularity may lead to an ignorance to understand the why, who, where, and what - ponder this as we descend into the weekend. Spots are gone like the loose change in my holy pocket - the meaning is squandered. Slingshoted in from dreams of atypical peace, hunger hounds are at it disregarding all tidal notions and mentally denying what the earth tells you is possible. One SSW steps to the sideline as another appears playing a tune that perks our ears and soothes our souls; on the horizon we spy something that speaks of joy. Whether the shadows tell tales of facades we know naught, but true to form, chaos has descended.

CHANNEL: I must count to recount, unsure I am whether there remains standing room only. Jump into the weekend with little lefts like your favorite wave pool. Neither water necessity nor the consistently hollow will dampen this crowds memo. Up and at ‘em. Similar tastes through waking and walking hours. Safety is key. Holler only if necessary - I have cows to milk.

PATCH: There is more story to tell within the unspoken lines of these remains than that which lies in your palm. There is more life and loss to those things that stay with grace while others come and go. Individuals attempt the unattainable. Lack of water will soften the horde; unassuming throughout daylight but for little pockets of glee.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”When you become comfortable with uncertainty, infinite possibilities open up in your life.” - Eckhart Tolle

In between days and in between tides for those seeking slides this finest of mornings. As we turn our pale blue eyes towards the sea we must shield them against exposure as the Full Monty of sub-aqueous items see the light of day. No deniability that the sun will blaze through and temps will warm to the occasion as the ocean ebbs and flows along its cyclical routes. Parking is thin and the long weekend has begun in earnest for many that started on Monday. The day may yet provide your soul with nourishment but it will take patience, practice and the hunter’s heart to realize.

CHANNEL: There is time for consideration and time to measure regret for those not willing or able to consult their guides to water levels. The shapes approaching shore are merely suggestion while our hearts seek form that simply does not exist in the early hours. Those that wish to paddle out and dangle legs will need to strive for any moderate depth along the corridor as nothing but a lone pole and sand greets the eye.

PATCH: Outside there’s a box car waiting. Outside the family stew. Out by the fire breathing. Outside we wait til face turns blue. There is a wait so long (so long, so long). You’ll never wait so long. Here comes your man.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”We know the meaning of nothing but the words we use to describe it.” - Anthony Marra

Things aught never to be taken for granted but when our eyes graze the same panorama and our nose catches the same stirrings, the enormity of the grace before us falls by the way side. Let us remind you what exists: first steps out of the car are affronted by briny wafts moments before our ears are greeted by the mellow roll and sigh of backwash. Our bodies tingles from dawn warmth, pleasant beyond measure holding back whispers of a sun-soaked day. If your eyes search for nature amongst this man-made world, this is a place to be - there’s a lot more silence; more sounds of running water against the backdrop of stillness. Swells stay by-and-by; holding onto what has been for moments past and to come.

CHANNEL: Warmth tingles my soul; a piece of time to simultaneously ground and bring excitement for the future. Lefts lull by as muffled sounds penetrating our earplugs. Middle-ground is safe in purpose and spirit. Rise to the occasion but don’t let time slip by.

PATCH: You’ve grown accustomed to everything that’s said about me. In low water I am taken for a grave yard, and inbetween I am told of my glory. I am neither beauty nor majestically menacing. I am grace. Everything is changing and yet you stay the same. Taste more of what yesterday gave and in moments like now, appreciate what has been given.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Enthusiasm is nothing more or less than faith in action.” - Henry Chester

Light gloom and low clouds but we know the sun lurks and will soon be exposed. The zephyrs play nice with small seas while the temp rises to 60F. The search for meaning and stoke begins though at a leisurely pace due to un-elevated tides. The line ups remain thin, should you want to climb in, with early offerings diminutive though appealing. Swells continue to wane but the incoming tide should add a dash of spice to the dish.

CHANNEL: Low tide lefts an attractant at any water level with spinners along the inner bars a mini Chicama. A black clad duo attempt to make mountains from the smaller hillsides currently on tap. Consistent yet small and being helped along by the rising tide - the determined push forever forward. Wide expanses of sand with the marker acting as road sign and mirage. Visible shapes may grow a bit in size enough to sustain interest for seekers.

PATCH: An empty Patch does speak volumes but begs inquiries on the nature of reality and all things taken for granted. Solitary rocks protrude to act as warnings and no invites are being issued. As is often the case, an increase in tidal push should present shadow and structure for the faint SW swell remainders. The later hours will dictate the day’s possibilities.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Look closely at the present you are constructing: it should look like the future you are dreaming.” - Alice Walker

Carry your cup in your hand and look around. Leaves are brown now and the sky is a hazy shade of winter. An early quiet that will not remain so as warm temps still drive souls to the coast and nerves to the edge. 58F and some ENE wind tendencies to accentuate the positives. Declining swell and minimal parking. Everyone trying to wring out the last ounces of summer before returning to reality.

CHANNEL: A trilogy of hopeful seekers perform miracles on water with shapes of great import as rare as common sense. Early water levels reflect uncertainties but they will rebound and hold steady and high for the remainder of the day and into evening. Redesigned NW windswell directing all slides and the plan of attack is kept a closely guarded secret.

PATCH: An eerie and persistent silence save for water fowl on the prowl. Through the parting mist one can visualize tiny rights morphing into routine curlers. Last gasp from the SW may be worth whatever efforts are expended. When opportunity makes itself know where will you be and how will you react?

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we can go nowhere.” - Carl Sagan

Fundamental fog and coastal overcast as the morning norm once again. A prescient calm binds the town and the winds remain slack. Temp moderate at 57F and ripe with humidity. An oily surface on which to bob and weave / hope and dream / as the tide fills and finds adequate levels then holds steady. Swells exhaust themselves today and new are in the making. Tiny energy blobs are your true salvation while rumbles and ripples are few in the making.

CHANNEL: A pushing tide. A western windswell. Expectations are buoyed by small but graceful spinners finding the sandbars to their liking. Size on the lower level and lapping near the knee. Symmetry off the charts if you pause to look and absorb the beauty that surrounds. Bring a log.

PATCH: SW swell whispers are heard by the few devoted practitioners. What shows now is no enticement but true believers know stoke is where you find it and is deeper than the external level. Never abandon hope and resolve to find positivity in all aspects of your day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” - Edgar Degas

Sandy feet roam the streets and campers snooze away. Calm and cool is the morning at 58F with no air movement. The fog fights for it’s space here, as to not be pushed out by the intruding sun. It has the lead this morning with no sunshine in sight. Participate and conversate with those around you. With a mind wide open it is appropriate to anticipate the glory to come. Bits of swell provide plenty of entertainment for all who apply. If today is anything like yesterday, we will see the sun, feel the heat, and eat a heaping lunch... so let’s put our crystals and good energy together to make it happen.

CHANNEL: Lefty loosey unless you’re goofy. Left handed ramps simmer in at knee to thigh heights. Fun fun fun all the way around. Sneak in and say please and thank you. Heavy traffic already in progress so be aware and act like you care.

PATCH: Wonky tides have the Patch in limbo. Many gather and few ride. Use your eyes and let your mind be your guide. Full tubs leave little room for splish and splash without resulting in spillage. Slides are possible but far in between. Save up your karma and let the rest come to you.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” - Confucius

A struggling sun inspires to break through an overcast with density and depth as morning descends like a locust upon the village. There is hope that rays will dispense the fog and warm the air but we start at 60F and no swirling winds. Already a crush of beach combers and more expected as the day lengthens. Pop tops, drop tops and low slung truck beds serve as residence with rubberized laundry and sleds of choice arranged for maximum drainage. Those determined to slide remain forever optimistic with swell power draining and higher tends lending an air of sluggishness to the sea.

CHANNEL: An area of opportunity with a dedicated crowd searching for stoke. Portions and partitions of breaker and wave seem elusive in their pursuit with shifting parameters making the mark a moving one. As is so often the case, the key to your ride and slides could be all the tides which have decided to remain unflinching in their refusal to exact great change this day.

PATCH: Bodies do gather at the water’s edge and seek sanity among the disturbance. Warm zephyrs from above give rise and fall to the pelican flybys. The SW swell exists for your enjoyment even within ruffled seas. The day ahead should bring positive prospects, where will you be when it makes itself known?

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.” - Margaret Fuller

Soul sucking S winds chafe cheeks but doesn’t dampen spirits. Skies a tinted mixture with sun emerging from the clouds and temp a righteous 55F. Stoke seekers by the dozens responding to the siren’s call of the sea and seeking slides which are plentiful though ribbed with texture this fine morning. Open space for vehicles is a distant memory and solitary lineups a delusion. I guess I should have known by the way you parked your car sideways, it wouldn’t last…

CHANNEL: The crowds do gather as the sun breaks through on masses of foam and plastic. Those riding from the prone bob and weave and snake around an obstacle course of closing breakers. Consistently inconsistent but not without the measured rejoicing as swells with westerly tendencies are still activated. Tidal levels are positive and productive. If the wind slacks off, a revisit of last night may well be in order.

PATCH: A shifting stillness beckons. A hungry gulls dives towards limited motion in steadfast search of the morning meal. Breakers of opportunity are strewn about the quarter with less rhyme and little reason.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” - Marcel Proust

A mysterious mix of fog, humidity and persistent sunshine as we find yet another day in this wonderful fool’s paradise. The readings indicate a gaudy blend of sun, sand, slides and gathering crowds even at the early hours. The lack of consequence or measure deters no pilgrim from the pursuit of stoke - nor should it. Parking already thinned but not without the odd random opening. All undertakings should be steeped in realistic expectations as your quest continues.

CHANNEL: An outside left draws the attention though a note of futility nags one’s soul. A more consistent inside left winks at you across a crowded room. Act in the present before other suitors do and the moment passes. Watch your back, watch your step, and wade on in while the water is fine.

PATCH: Sweet sultry slides serenade seekers as swells seemingly surround and satisfy.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Before you react, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you criticize, wait. Before you quit, try.” - Ernest Hemingway

A wild mist from above slowly dissolves as the sun finds its way to full illumination. Early cool at 53F in case you cared to know exact details. Hushed whispers and squeaky rubber signify the start of a new day yet to fully unfold. A keen sense of time and space will serve you well as the vault lays open with a modest treasure discharged. Savor the shapes and movements and commit them to memory, or suffer the pain of forgotten favors. Random acts of randomness should always be your guide.

CHANNEL: Satisfactory peaks forming with revolutions intact and stoke ratios positive - though not off the charts. The thinnest of crowds keeps the flow circulating with the only communication signaled in the eyes rather than with words. Tides bending slightly low now, then fully fledged for the remainder if the swell will hold form. Expect a migration throughout the day as this may be the only game in town.

PATCH: Primitive plateaus with vast expanses of ocean views. Un-encumbered spaces with little activity to distract one’s attention. Determined details show missing marks and lacking tides initially. A contingent with hard stares finally turns away, looks back and considers other options.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The value of achievement lies in the achieving.” - Albert Einstein

A fine light leaks its way through high cloud cover as we gaze down upon the village this morning. Creatures crawl from slumber to seek refuge in a yet sleeping sea. Little sanctuary is to be found in these early hours, despite the figures clad in petro-chemical suits. Keep an open heart and your eyes towards the horizon with hopeful yearnings for the day is young and tomorrow brings yet another opportunity.

CHANNEL: Those seeking satisfaction from Mother Ocean do so with tempers leveled. Though some may see with different eyes, the casual observer questions the devotion and approach. The later hours may offer more solace and a shoulder upon which to lean but only the clock truly knows.

PATCH: Wide open spaces with very few traces as all swells skirt the region. Perhaps that late morning tide push will tip the scales into favorable outcomes, but for now the efforts expended are mostly unrewarded.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” - George Bernard Shaw

Low flying clouds mixed with a degree of dampness reverberate off a temp of 60F at this hour. With educational institutions resuming knowledge drops, the town retains an unusual calm and the feel of a winding down summer. Westerly directed swells are still actionable but need a tidal return to reduce the sand to wave ratio into favorable odds. Though the waters remain calm in this moment, know that ebb and flow are the measures that will shape your true reality today.

CHANNEL: Angle exactitude of existent swells give rise to hope that this arena will be productive. Under less than ideal water levels the potential is seen and felt in variations that seek to inspire. Going forth to attempt then choosing left or right never results in a experience to the negative.

PATCH: The determined duo detached to the locality stand tall and sweep righteously in an effort to gain purchase and momentum. The brutal denial of facts is evident as the eye test translates the sea’s activities into those best suited for a lake. Do not fill your heart with despair but do mitigate your expectations and hope to surprise yourself upon the returning tide.
