Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.” - Edgar Allen Poe

Fog buries the town in a heavy mist. Wind chops the water to pieces and blows SUPers right over. It’s a cool and quiet Sunday morning, with the day’s visitors not yet at capacity. With no sun, the temperature holds steady at 60F for the time being. So much sand covers the beach that we almost don’t know how to deal. Take a step onto the sea wall and see for yourself. Not much to look forward to if you’re a pessimist, but everything to look forward to if you’re an opportunist.

CHANNEL: Choppy and sloppy as a result of mass amounts of sand, wind, and water. The tide is on the rise and may not be of much help. We wait and wonder if this late summer Sunday is going to shine through and become what we wish it to be… If curiosity killed the cat, then why not just get a dog instead?

PATCH: Sweeping sea breezes churn the water into white clumps and the swell we yearn for is absent. Rock statues stand tall for the remaining moments of the lower tide. They are happy to breathe this air just as we are. Soon they will be covered up though, and the water will swallow them whole. Only the afternoon low can be their salvation. Find your church, wherever it may be. It could just be here.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”People are creative, god-like beings. I don’t feel like we carry ourselves like that all the time, or that we know how miraculous we are.” - Deana Lawson

Haze persistent. Chunky water retreated halfheartedly to low while your body slept. It’s sneaking back toward us now till lunchtime with a building breeze. One might choose to take cues from the patient tide-pool heron for the time being, but not all day. In other news, buoys wield Poseidonal trident with various angled prongs poised to prick land’s edge. Parking spots abound for those hoping to enter the liquid where good and bad need not apply. The gauntlet will close and open before it closes again and so on.

CHANNEL: Four figures laughing and splashing in ankle high chop: an inspiring testament to humankind’s ability to make the most of it. Many won’t go when it’s this low.

PATCH: Now is a great time to observe Saxidomus nuttalli and other squirting mollusks. Read right to left for an interpretation of the little water jets -> “I’m here, I’m here too, I’m here too, so am I, I’m here.”

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.” - John Lennon

Full moon remainders as the howling ceases upon early light. Again a bright sun has broken through the morning mist and we find ourselves in the coastal town they forgot to close down. The mercury will rise and enliven an epic summer day that seems determined to challenge the capacity of one’s senses. Many of the ingredients are in place for a dish worth savoring, save the most critical, any level of water currently. Those bound and determined should heed the tides, times and charts, with tempered measures of reality firmly in place. Shapes of matter and import may yet be realized and a modicum of slides should follow suit.

CHANNEL: The sight pole stands tall and firmly positioned to note all visitor comings and goings. Westerly swells have angles of resolution seeking to land squarely upon these shores. For now those seeking slides merely trudge back and forth over pebble and sand in an effort to locate any depth that may hold secrets yet to be unlocked.

PATCH: Oh we’re so pretty, oh so pretty. We’re vacant. Oh we’re so pretty, oh so pretty. Vacant. There’s no point. Oh we’re so pretty, oh so pretty. We’re vacant. We’re pretty, a pretty vacant. We don’t care.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”When life seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?” - Tara Westover

The streets find moments of placidity between the full moon rise and the second ascent of its parallel. A rebirth is felt ubiquitously; the chaos within of days past lies in wait, pondering if it will ever return, leaving us in wonder at the power we have over its being. Orange mass beats down steadily, shedding layers in the wee hours; tranquility may give way to fever and the warm bath that is the ocean water gives enough to flush away the grievances that humans always find and create. Not a stir in the air is sensed but textures of sea stay at a solid womp; no tidal changes appear to upset this rythm. Slides are probable throughout time, though not optimal for now; throw the craze n praise everyone is shouting about this one and just delight in the ability.

CHANNEL: Marked for later when what we seek gives way to what can be. Indeed we know what shall come, reaching limits of our thighs, but for sunken sand is all our taste buds may meet. Preference of personal discretion is advised.

PATCH: Womp. Bounce , falter , sit. Low and high, chop of water gives us new feet on uncertain textures. No wind stirs but intermixing swells give this a whole new meaning to sloshy warm baths. Safely play without the absurdity; jolly joy but impeccable is not in its definition.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”We are limited, not by our abilities, but by our vision.” - Khalil Gibran

Moon morning while the skies clear and the sun again releases its glow. No winds and as cool as it will get as we start at 57F and will rise to the occasion. Resurgent tides have made the return from the negative and will now yield depths to ply and allow swells to operate. As is always the case, intrepid mariners begin each new day with hopes of slides, glides and satisfaction, even in limited amounts. Familiar faces look towards the lowest waters of the day and calculate the best suited approach and proper timing. Do not despair for tidal pushes bring the promise of shape and shadow that the SWesterly swell sees fit to dispense.

CHANNEL: The potential you’ll be, but may never see. The promises you’ll make and always break. Navigation around sand islands and crusted walls is required to fully appreciate the opportunity of enlightenment.

PATCH: The meeting rock shines and rises as though summoned from the core of the sea. Even under less than ideal levels, motion is suspected and detected by the duo upon said waters and those viewing from perches above. A limited ocean bounty in the early hours that should increase as the day lengthens.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”There is something more important than logic: imagination.” - Albert Hitchcock

Golden hues rich in amber yellow, rise above hilltops highlighting patterns below. Rising warmth on temperature gauges reaching higher levels than most expected. Minimal layers needed for warmth as visors and sunscreen are best friends for the day. White painted lines spacing identical widths and lengths, an open invitation for those who are looking. Down the ramp, dry crispy sand crunches underfoot leaving trails of paths taken to shore. Standing in solitude asking internal questions seeking answers out of reach; the line is finally drawn.

CHANNEL: Angled NW swell rolling in knee height just right of the pole. Overnight winds are now calm and glassy surfaces stand still. An extra paddle or two is needed for extra push if forward movement is your goal. Currently two prone paddlers searching for the perfect spot in which to slide. Practice makes perfect.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The moment in between what you once were, and who you are now becoming, is where the dance of life really take place. ” - Barbara De Angelis

Crystallized wide blue yonder, crisp and clear, while sunbeams dance through tree leaves warming surfaces below. Semi-delivery trucks stopping for drop offs, a key indication the work week has begun. Over night campers holding on tight to the last final moments of summertime bliss, sparsely fill the void of open spaces. For most, lists of to-do’s a priority, pointing in a hilly direction. Familiar faces gather to the wall searching for salty answers catching up from days past, while tiny rollers sparkle under sunlight rays uncrowded and unbroken. The choice is made and intentions are set, no place we’d rather be on a Monday.

CHANNEL: SW has rode off into last nights sunset as a new small NW is creeping in. Waves slowly moving in a forward ankle height direction with one lone stand up paddler in place. Pelicans settle on the still surface in Channel proper searching for fish movements below. A paddle day on a Monday.

PATCH: Sandcastle making and crystal clearing marks today’s objectives. Measure twice and cut once, mapping out the moats and pillars. Scoops and pails on the ready with crystal toppers securely tucked in deep pockets. Digging deep basking in the sunshine, a perfect beach day activity.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Greatness and madness are next door neighbors and they borrow each other’s sugar. You don’t get there without the other. ” - Joe Rogan

Heavy moisture hanging low, lingering for a moment or two while the sun sleeps in late. Early neoprene suited and booted arrivals score spaces on land and in water before the hustle and bustle of afternoon. Momentary calm and mental reflection takes hold while waiting for the eight second pause. On cue rolling in, paddle arms take flight aiming for the second line, stalling before planting feet firmly gliding to shore. Dawn is the magic hour this day.

CHANNEL: Right side of the pole is the best side as Channel proper is sleeping in. Mellow rides and slides in the knee height just right of the sign with half a dozen out. Tidal swings at a minimum throughout the day with SW the primary swell; translates into all time is real time and the time is now or later.

PATCH: Scooby Doo smoke on the water, as a gang of Mystery Incorporated sleuths venture out to solve the crime. Armed with mystery machines in different shapes and sizes, picking up clues as they go before stopping in at Mr. Gibbles’ Genuine Magic Shoppe for matching ascots. Until the box of Scooby snax is rattled, the never ending adventure continues.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The shape of that dent lasts only a moment, and is as close as anyone gets to seeing wind.” - Tara Westover

We awake into a vague world, one moment indefinite, coated in shades of silver while another is greeted by pockets of sunbeams - a messenger of what is yet to come. Be that as it may, confusion in the sky preserves the warmth where we resides; rather it reflects disorder closing in on this sleepy town. Tranquility appears to be of days past and a few days out. What the water brings reminds us that all things ebb and flow; though the austral born swell hangs on by a thread, it lingers just as that last bite of cobbler does - maybe more in your memory than you’d like to accept.

CHANNEL: Enough push for extraordinary objects that float. A spectacular sight to see but tidal influxes leave periods of calm. Daylight hours will leave this area flooded in use for the content given. Early hours bring moments of peace; seek to find this throughout the rise and fall.

PATCH: At times like these one must sit and figure out if it is merely our imagination or if our eyes stay true true. One moment not a breath escapes the unseen but peels enough to slip on greet our ears; another we are greeted by standing shapes, few in quantity but for a moment. Out here in this strange land, we traverse vertically on horizontal shapes bigger than two.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Where attention goes, energy flows and results show.” - T. Harv Eker

Those in hope of finding stoke have entered the realm upon the early hours. The tide is pushing towards high as souls seek their number one. SW swell keeping on and existing under mottled skies. Verging on sunny and cosmetically warm at 57F, the sea is full of magic and motion. Reflection and shadow tempt those attempting to choose the correct direction. You are already on your way, you just may not know it yet.

CHANNEL: One must see with the mindful eye in order to harvest the slides of merit. Mali-Bo reckonings active in the wee hours now shut down for maintenance and tidal change. A growing assemblage of flotation vehicles mar the visage as the hill alight. Acknowledge you are not alone among the breakers, nor in the universe itself.

PATCH: Squint if you must or better yet close your eyes and visualize the outcome. Know in your soul that this location exists for you in this moment. As the swell lingers the output dwindles down but hasn’t been extinguished. Slice through Pacific vectors to find your place of peace and be ready when the ocean calls your name.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”In this universe, and this existence, where we live with this duality of whether we exist or not and who we are, the stories we tell ourselves are the stories that define the potentials of our existence.” - Shekhar Kapur

Duality is the name of the game - it exists in anything and today it’s packing everything it’s got. Glistening sunlight brings a celestial shimmer to the waters portside but when our eyes cross twelve overhead we are brought back to days of old - iron skies sit complacently, reminding us to never forget. We sit inbetween, knowing that mornings of gloom are soon to pass but with the everlasting promise of return. Today we are given glory in small portions - our eyes open. The minute, steep S on the horizon has risen and accompanying it trails the WNW steed of miniature proportions. Slides are small in existence and a side-shore wind reminds you never to get too comfortable. Considering days past, we may have just won the lottery.

CHANNEL: It is a wonder if it is the way she blinds you that keeps her vacant or the prospect of another that keeps you away. Not a soul to be counted for now which leaves those yet to come among the triumphant. Not notable but open to opportunity and variety.

PATCH: One must wonder, have you lost your head if you leave your convertible top open over night or is it lack of care? Minds wander during the lull between sets. Bodies occupy the area but few sit where feeding is prime. Outsiders scoff at the sight but for those who know the glory it is a small wonder.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” - Dr. Suess

Grey metal skies and no mist for your eyes. Calm and overcast with no breath of wind and the mercury risen to 57F. Though the passage of hours may send the sun our way that is of little concern to the slider pursuing a session of solace. New rumblings within the sea have interest piqued and radars tuned for visuals or tall tales. We subsist knowing that all things are cyclical and our turn will soon come whether we are ready or not.

CHANNEL: Peaks have shown themselves through the clearing haze and the district is home to a half dozen seekers. A field that will soon crowd but can support a range from log to egg to thruster enamored grom. Rides exist though not truly consequential but helps to quench a thirst a recent drought has left. Won’t you be my neighbor?

PATCH: A sole practitioner of diminutive stature though powerful actions plies his trade in peaceful solitude. Though lacking a solid push on the high water mark, the numbers indicate some cause for excitement in the coming hours. Know your spot and be in it if lightning decides to strike.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.” - Andy Warhol

Winter weather wakes us as we walk to the water. Not a beam of light in sight, but plenty of morning moisture. The wind is blowing early this morning, and tries to persuade to stay indoors. Some will follow, but some will break away. Low tides have both spots looking mostly unsurfable, but there’s always at least one who loves to prove us wrong. Signs of swell may be present, but other worldly conditions are not adding up to its success. Crystals may be necessary to provide positive energy, as the streets are lacking. Things get a little funky when its Friday on a Tuesday.

CHANNEL: A solo fisherman wades in the break, far out from the shore. The very low low tide still on it’s way out, causing shallow pockets to be found. Wind chopped slosh and slow cooked poultry is on the menu and I think one is better than the other.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man’s desire to understand.” - Neil Armstrong

Chiming bells ring in hopes of awaking bodies from deep sleep as the snooze button is tapped once more. No yellow soaking through the cloak of thick gray as foggy sprinkles dampen streets. Silence has cast its tune over town for the mass exodus of weekend visitors reveals empty spaces not seen since Thursday. Temps remain low in sync with the morning tide, as we sit and wait for the levels to rise. Perched on the wall, huddled in layered protection from the strong cool breeze, pontoon fishing kayaks swim against the current to places unknown. Pivoting on heels in a perfect 180, the decision has been made with intentions set on making warm coffee back at the homestead.

CHANNEL: Tide dropping all morning as pelicans move in to rest on the growing sandy island in Channel proper. S swell is a no show to the party leaving wind NW churn on the dance floor. Ruffled and texturized surface the only ocean motion this early AM. Best to wait inside, nice and warm until the crevices are filled to where one can float.

PATCH: A two man crew walking on water sideways looking for any form of forward movement to shore. A rocky ending, much like the beginning with little in between. Imagination the best form of thought and the key to open afternoon.

Thick gray curtains closed tightly, while moisture droplets break free floating downwards. A temporary calm in the early dawn as we brace ourselves for the on-slot hustle and bustle. Many arrive in search for space only to be left turning in endless circles. Hurry up and wait, the common theme as we bide out time for the negative to turn positive. For now, a stroll barefooted tracing the lapping shore, the best offering this morning for those who have made the journey.

CHANNEL: Buoys made read South on paper, though have yet to materialize into reality. Negative tide in full effect, leaving vast island space in Channel proper for visiting pelicans to perch. No swell of any size as goose-bumped surfaces stretch out far and wide. Waiting for afternoon the best option currently.

PATCH: Rocky and sharp on the horizon without water filling in, leaving sweet memories of slides past in the present. Gazing into the crystal ball, future telling of much of the same without change in direction. Flea market finds are the best option to seek with a haggling crew.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done.” - Bryan Stevenson

Transported to a world of rainforest sounds as birds pipe their morning pipers and water plummets from sky and limbs, coating us all in a heavy dew. Cars drive in to immediately drive out - it is unknown if the full parking lot, the tide, or the utter lack of certainty is the underlying force. Low water leaves time for much; preferably mindfulness and a moment to realize everything you’ve neglected as you run amuck trying to keep up with the chaos - all around are welcome to indulge. As tidal forces move, wee waves show in all shapes and similar sizes. If one needs to compare, days past leave much room for improvement and small peaks on buoys suggest something far on the horizon.

CHANNEL: My memory has forgotten already what I thought I knew so I look with my eyes to help place me back onto the railroads. Boogies, swimming, lunch trays. Bring the toys and play in the sand. Blissful ignorance keeps you appreciating what exists.

PATCH: When your mind and heart yearn for something and life decides to deliver a wholly alternative plan, it is your choice to find joy in what exists or to ruminate in what does not. Way out yonder souls bob for hours, waiting to catch what is improbable with such little substance. A moment for things that are other, and small moments of just this later. Waiting is the name.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” - Winston Churchill

A reason for rejoicing as we remain thankful for bright and sunny skies, though moderate breezes are already brewing at this early hour. One possible small complaint would be the dearth of available water as negative tides rule the morning. Another bone of contention resides with the current deficit of primary swell as a specific contributor to breakers. The determined and dedicated are towel wrapped and neoprene swaddled though what they seek may not be traditional slides. Many are called, few are chosen, and the wise know where and when.

CHANNEL: Sweet and stellar reflections off burnished sand and sea. Islands to explore and pools in which to splash. Movements are minor if at all but capturing the beauty within your mind’s eye is the worthy endeavor. Modify your outlook and equipment choices if you enter the brine. Nothing is better than this (is it?).

PATCH: Full exposure with no hidden offerings as all secrets are revealed. Only those on yards of foam and hundreds of liters of volume attempt. The forces of nature and Mother Ocean lay at rest with no immediate signs of life to compel even the most stalwart of sliders.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”The only animals I’m not comfortable with are parrots, but I’m learning as I go. I’m getting better and better at ‘em. I really am.” - Steve Irwin

I want not what I do not already have but the unfolding of today will bring things I never dreamt of. A rebirth from the blackened sky brings large tidal fluctuations and long moments for reflection. Arial surroundings have us revolving in a world far from those not around; though sun is bound to break through, for now we enjoy the morning warmth brought to us blanketed. We seek the stillness inside that the sea seems to gracefully nourish in. All knowledge of swells is useless today; paragliding, tandeming, a paipo, or a dream are all excellent currency. I entrust you to find pleasure in today.

CHANNEL: There are moments when the origins of all that brought us to surf must be brought out once again. A lovely swim or a boogie is just the recipe for fun in all hours of daylight. Try what the kids do - throw your ego away and find joy in what exists.

PATCH: I offer you a place of placid waters tuned to a silvery shine sharing with you in a whisper, as if in secret, what the true form of vacancy means to the naked eye. Not a breath escapes those long gone and the ripples only appear as if a cannonball was indulged far out yonder. I plan on staying vacant for far longer than you please; it pleases me.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Wonder is the seed of knowledge.” - Francis Bacon

A layer of fog holding firm in its resolve and levels of SE winds greet the morning. A roaring silence and stillness upon the lesser waters as deep negative tides have the slider’s soul a bleak and fading grey. Wrangler’s Fence standing proud, firm and unobstructed with parking as open as it will ever be. Temps mild and warming - already reaching 55F. Heed the obvious and pass on the early hours but know a Black Moon comes this evening and brings portents of the unknown to both land and sea.

CHANNEL: No shapes observed and enjoyment being sought by a lone seal and a pair of brazen gulls. While the possibility of a combo of gusty winds and steep sandbars providing a measure of comfort exists, it seems improbable to the watcher’s trained eye. For now those upon the water seek nourishment in its true form with fishing kayaks outnumbering sliders exponentially.

PATCH: Muted light reflects as we search frantically for shadow and shape. Echoes from the abyss cross empty beach and strewn stone to travel endlessly within the void. Strong black coffee and good literature are wise pursuits until the afternoon hours which will have more water and hopefully less winds.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
”Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” - T.S. Eliot

Golden lemon yellow stretching over yonder casting shadows of warmth below as birds sing in tune. Winds remain floating by with temps starting in the 50’s and climbing to 68 by afternoon. Empty spaces fill the void between white painted stripes; a key indication of what is yet to come. From the edge of the sandy shore, dogs fetch and play finding treasure along the way as their alpha dogs trail behind with a tired arm. A slow motion scene set in stone as the ocean rests this AM. Hit the snooze button once more, remain cozy under covers and try again this afternoon.

CHANNEL: NW swell trying hard with all its might to create forward movement. Small tiny wavelets in the ankle height barely rolling over enough to carry weight of any size. Seadrift side has a wee bit more in strength but not in size nor form. An extra paddle on the longest sled is in order to satisfy the hunger.

PATCH: Mirrored surface reflecting fluffy cloud reflections as pelicans glide inches above the surface to places unknown. One lone seal out coasting on the surface searching for friends to play with and seagulls meander on shore looking for breakfast. Grab another cup of warmth, hit pause and wait for afternoon.
