Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will” - Mahatma Gandhi

Pouring rain from above as far as the eye can see from underneath raincoats and umbrellas. Slick puddled streets call for defensive driving at 10 and 2 with lights and windshield wipers on. Runoff water rolling down the street towards the salty sea as most are hunkered down waiting out the storm. Stepping carefully over debris and mini-waterfalls down the ramp to take a peek at the sea wondering what is in store for today. Tread lightly and watch your step.

CHANNEL:  Slightly jumbled and mixed in colors, with brown runoff slowly mixing in with the tide. Textured from falling rain with temps hovering 58. S swell a bit thrown off in direction with waves clumsily moving forward in the knee height. No one out giving it a try not even the seals nor pelicans.

PATCH:  Water craft has moved on from yesterdays prime position. Brown zebra stripes churning and burning as the tide moves forward and back. The old familiar first storm smell permeates the air through a rain filtered sky. Place your crystals out for cleansing and recharging while reading a good book.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"My heroes are the ones who survived doing it wrong, who made mistakes, but recovered from them.” - Bono

Patchy gray skies with slices of blue and a cool humid 54 to kick off the beginning of a new week. Commuting cars break the morning silence with slick sounding tires and engines. School lunch boxes are packed and being carried to bus stops with parents walking slowly behind. Cars fill the usual spaces with natural voids in between. From the sea wall sights and smells fill the senses and recharge the soul leaving a lingering question. Should I stay or should I go?

CHANNEL:  Muted in color with low lying clouds and thick moisture air. SW swell is slightly visible with one main peak being closely guarded by 5 sliders. Steep on the drop and quickly dissipating into nothing without reform. Waves rolling in the thigh zone with textured surface from overnight winds.

PATCH:  A flotilla of water crafts in all shapes and sizes caravanning to stoke and bliss. Remember hand signals and use your indicators. As Oprah says “you get a wave, you get a wave, you get a wave!”

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you weren’t here, if you could be anywhere you wanted to be, doing anything you wanted to do, where would you be and what would you be doing?” - Truman Capote

Pink and blue pastel hues reflecting morning salutations from the sun. Low in temperature at 52 with a high thick humidity left over from yesterdays early rain. Streets still damp from cleansing with a clear sweet smelling air to fill the lungs while walking to the salty shore. Mellow morning crews gathering with coffee and chatting before making the neoprene change. Spirits seem high in hopes that the elusive south is starting to show. Only those who make the journey to the edge of the earth know for sure.

CHANNEL:  Blinding sun reflections make it hard for a viewing party through squinting eyes. The overnight clean up crew missed a few spots as textured surfaces still remain. SW and SE swell just barely starting to show in the form of knee high waves or double UNDER-head; depending on if your glass is half-full or empty. Sets rolling in and dropping fast, then crumbling into nothing with no reform. Something is better than nothing and hopefully all chores and to-do’s were completed yesterday.

PATCH:  Cruise ships on the horizon and fishing boats as far as the eye can sea. A handful of hopefuls walking on water with prone positioned paddlers inside. Create a safety circle of personal space and wait. Patience is the word of the day.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.” - Willie Nelson

Morning tranquility beset by raging anticipation as the S Pacific primes to explode. Slightly clearing skies and light SW winds with early temp already raised to 59F. What may be coming has many miles to travel and days yet to arrive. What is present and accounted for is lackluster in potential comparison. Weekend residuals must qualify to lift spirits and renew stoke. It is something more than nothing in the moment.

CHANNEL:  Do not bide your time for improvement may not be attainable. Get in, get out, get coffee and a breakfast burrito. Rinse suits, patch and ready boards for future endeavors. Take care of all house chores and clear the calendar for the coming swells. Ho brah!

PATCH:  I could never understand the wind at all. Was like a ball of love I could never never see. The cosmic sea was like bumblebee. And when I’m sad - I slide I slide.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Imagination is more important than knowledge.” - Albert Einstein

Lifted fog though coastal overcast remains with a balmy 56F surround. Deep breaths but no salutations. Absent winds and a curious tranquility invades the atmosphere. Only communication is the chirp of birds. Waning swells in some parameters while others shift and expand. Tide is your friend today and should not deter. Standards set may well be met if expectations are kept in check.

CHANNEL:  Here the NW windswell is nearly all but extinguished. A watery shambles with knee high crumbles the object of desire. Rising tide may buoy the outlook and unlock inner Channel options as a Plan B or C.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The eyes are useless if the mind is blind.” - Unknown

Spacious with room to roam and spread the wings. Void of cars and populace as well during the mid week abandonment. Hazy vibes with limited clarity as fog settles and permeates all spaces. Temp enabled at 52F and no winds to swirl the soup. Early low tide facilitating a slow start and lack of vision making the decision more involved.

CHANNEL:  Expect ebbs and flows along the tidal swings today. A modest NW windswell should infiltrate with the incoming waters to at least give the middle bar momentum. Now it is a waiting game with guessing and conjecture thrown in for good measure.

PATCH:  Encased in dense fog leaving all an early mystery. S swell on the radar and translating into breakers is likely. Un-reportable at the present time due to vision blockades. But last night….

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Things turn out the best for people who make the best of the way things turn out.” - John Wooden

No winds though all is encased in an opaque fog and damp. Darker mornings feel suited to sleeping in for those inclined to slack. Temp in at 52F with an early group of cohorts stirring and purring around the scene. Hoodies up, beanies on but we know the expected suspects that crack it on the usual.

CHANNEL:  Vacating NW windswell on the lower morning tide not conducive to positive results. Coming up short in most aspects and the initial domain of surf casters finding dinner. No fish nor fowl can be found in the area though the incoming tide may change the landscape during the afternoon hours.

PATCH:  Burgeoning S swell on the horizon as the calm is routinely rippled with precursor blips. Big logs can luck into the immediate offerings while the tide refills and the swell advances. Still a bright moon above in case your crystal energy is lacking.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they will soon be inevitable.” - Christopher Reeve

Silky gray thick fog seeping through pine needles and lightly misting walking faces. Early morning risers slowly moving over the hill for gauranteed warmth and sun. A cool 48 greets ocean dwellers with promises of socked in fog throughout the day. Layers upon layers to keep the warmth from escaping walking to the open shore. Parking is a plenty and up for grabs for those who make the journey. Once firmly planted on the lookout wall peering out to sea, take a moment of rest in solitude and enjoy the view.

CHANNEL:  Micro NW swell rolling in the ankle height through Channel proper. Slow motion white water having little effect on bobbing pelicans searching for breakfast treats. No one out in the line up and only two truck drivers taking one makaha out for an early morning sandy stroll.

PATCH:  Water receding revealing smooth sandy surfaces perfect for crystal recharging and rock labyrinth building. Steady the hands for perfect placement and stand back once the creation is complete.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger. Forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart.” - Jim Henson

I spy with my little eye, light gray with hints of bright blue. Chatty birds of all feathers, flocking together catching up on the weekends happenings, as the cold 46 air temp nips at fingers and toes. Tis’ the season of booties and gloves as fall has crept upon us. Extra layers required in the early dawn, easy to peel off in the afternoon sun for mazimum vitamin D exposure. Don’t forget the sunscreen.

CHANNEL:  Lingering floating fog creating a mystical layer of marine magic. NW swell slow on the wake up this Monday morning as set waves are currently rolling through in the shin height. Most are tempted to paddle far and sit and wait and those who know, sit on the inside for tiny rides and slides.

PATCH:  For most, Monday mornings kick off with board meetings along with dry erase markers as colleagues cry “I have a problem” and others fish off the company pier. For those who are the lucky ones, briney, salt water ankle biters are the answer to all problems. Good. For. You.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Sometimes you have to wake up to dream. ” - JH

Morning settles over us in the form of thick mist. Feel the moisture kiss your face and the cold embrace your fingers. The temperature is currently 54F and reminds us of the coming seasons. The sun should protrude in the early hours of the afternoon and allow the fog to burn away. Some push is still lingering in the water and could remain throughout the day. Avoid the highs and lows and search in the in-betweens.

CHANNEL:  Vision is blurred by morning moisture but the image is clear. You’ll be leaning to the left as slicers come spitting in and smacking your back. Crowds are building, for they must know that the time is NOW.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you can dream it, you can do it.” - Walt Disney

Fog descends and lightly mists. Temp rises to hover at 55F. Qualitative analysis in medium light reveals a degradation to be overlooked. Dig deep into the human resolve. Find the fire to fuel the stoke. Sustain the emotion that keeps the dream alive. The bigger board the better if you hope to realize slides today.

CHANNEL:  Little lurching left on the lower tide infiltration. Finding its way back to a neutral range with watery increases over time. NW windswell showing less capability than previously enjoyed. A full force crew advancing upon it with intent.

PATCH:  Languishing along nearly unnoticed while the morning expands and the tide rises. Smaller SW swell with new stimulus may break the drought and cast a new spell. Rocks back to hibernation throughout the day and breakers with low level stature are expected to follow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Every moment has its pleasure and its hope.” - Jane Austen

On the cusp of Fall in sights, sounds, temperature and sensation. Unbroken calm in the cool air as the sun rises to shed light on all subjects. Bundled rovers are drawn in random directions as the ocean goes quiet for a beat. Early incoming tide seems to only attract kayak fishers with salmon again biting. All swells in retrograde while we prepare for an equilibrium of light.

CHANNEL:  Only traces in the usual places but an early empty lineup which can be easily owned. Still just NW windswell to propel and the rising tide lends a slight hand in the efforts. May require more water or caffeine to fully awaken but the potential is limited though not fully exhausted.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Blessings sometimes show up in unrecognizable disguises.” - Janette Oke

A single fox forages along while a duo of seals playfully swims and a trio of sliders take the plunge. Rapidly clearing skies allowing for sun illumination to raise the temp from its initial 45F. No winds to speak of and carefully curated tides allowing for plentiful water levels without much transformation. Swell remainders keeping it alive while we wait for the first real hit of Fall as the wake up call to inspire greatness. For today it is meager but perfect for those eager to get a briny taste.

CHANNEL:  Resilient in the early light as incoming tide joins forces with NW windswell to stimulate activity. The MaliBo insider is weakened but working while the dawn crew sits well out in the deep Channel waiting for the sporadic nugget to materialize. Size down a degree and can firmly be established at knee high with lefts or rights depending on your inclination.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.” - Matsuo Basho

Chilled out and crisp as we delve into the temp range of 45F. Clearing skies with sun to warm the face while the toes remain benumbed. Wind is slack though evening gales did whistle late into the night. Strewn debris marks all paths giving everyone and opportunity to retrieve or ignore. Intensified NW windswell showing signs and attractions for those willing to don the cold and damp neoprene while the SW fails to operate on the lesser tide.

CHANNEL:  No winds, sun rising on the Marin hills and a new NW windswell focusing energy to move logs. Backhanders in the thigh high and up range are not of legendary status but will suffice for a mid week slide. Inner regions can be explored while the tide continues to rise until the mid morning swamp. Settled heights make the day an opportunistic one if you look beyond the norms.

PATCH:  Buoy data not translating into actuality and long hard stares don’t change the outlook. Status angle may have morphed and periodic pulses are no longer being delivered. Carbon footprint worries spur the direction and the inspired few join the no wave club.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Just ‘cause you put syrup on something doesn’t make it pancakes.” - Samuel L. Jackson

Early morning drum beats echoing off thick gray overlay as a sharp whistle kicks in. Rise and shine for those without warning on Taco Tuesday. A cool 54 to start the dance with layers peeling off by mid-day. Hopeful south swell searchers make their way in town with fingers and toes crossed that it’s not to late. With open parking, hearts start racing walking through the gates for all eyes to see. Gazing out beyond the salty sand, an old familiar sight to see.

CHANNEL:  SSW swell barely showing with a cold NW wind swell in full effect. Cold water temperatures at 52 makes for a chilly entry if there were any takers. Set waves turning over in the thigh height and quickly diminish into nothing. Currently three seals out catching salmon and chowing down.

"Formal education will make you a living; self education will make you a fortune.” - Jim Rohn

The return of thick gray overcast shadows making it’s presence known as fog lingers well below. Remnants of the weekends mayhem scattered above by hanging shoes on lines and odd socks perched on curbs. Parking hopefuls lacking lady luck as dawn patrol regulars are holding court and scoring rides since day break. From the looks of things, most are calling in sick or will be arriving late to the regular Monday morning scheduled activities.

CHANNEL:  Calm, glassy and chilly as the SSW swell is lingering with much less push and size. Water temp has dropped significantly with most toes feeling the numb block rocks with five white fingers. Sets clocking in the thigh zone with slow shoulders. Currently five out trying to hold the shoulder while pearling in between.

PATCH:  Mahna Mahna, Do doo be-do-do, Mahna Mahna, Do do-do do, Mahna Mahna, Do doo de-do-do de-do-do de-do-do, Mahna Mahna.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Nobody wants to be here and nobody wants to leave.” - Cormac McCarthy

Popped and sizzling with bubbles, the morning crisp brings the highest highs and potential for an abundance of knotted panties. Check your pendulum before it swings. An audacious September is underway with all variables open to (sometimes) drastic fluxuation. Swells remain in what have been, slowing down as we reach peak; above, we look into the great expanse, the future has yet to be written. Pack your bags like Mary Poppins so that you too may have comfortable pants; take your patience pills and carry reinforcements in hand to rest assured that the parking play-ground will never get you down; and remember, to always have a great day.

CHANNEL:  You know those rare, pristine moments when it pushes and pitches just right to allow a vestige of flawless tubes in a glimpse of time? Yea, hold up your hand to block the reflecting sun, close one eye and squint with the remaining one and it’s exactly like that. Discrection advised. Open to interpretation and change.

PATCH:  No longer a mere angst teen. Movements from within and below have come to fruition right on track. Developed and voluptuous, she brings a variety of characters out from their shells to dwell in opportunities of unmatched proportions. Each will be different. Each to their own. Do not overestimate. Be realistic or be rejected.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Once you’d resolved to go, there was nothing to it at all.” - Jeannette Walls

Slashed by sun stroked rays, the summer haze bleeds. Pressure releases through defined variables while differing sensations linger. It’s not just something - it’s everything. Just when we think the mother is done, perfected her show, she speaks to us, telling us to wait a moment and throws in an extra step, upping herself every time. Anticipation sits in the air; like children, cars weave emitting joy, impatience and carelessness - mind your step. Beams spread, promising glory above (sunset potential unknown), while pulses below tingle the senses.

CHANNEL:  Listen, listen, my children! To the voice of the wide salt sea. Oh! we hear it calling, calling, and the gleam of its waves we see. Come up from the wild, strong water; we are wet and cold in the spray; and the sea it is calling, calling, calling our lives away."

PATCH:  Come one, come all - just leave me to what’s mine! Tensions rise as chompers learn to share. Rules may apply: hold up your hand, share if you can and don’t bite their heads off. Steep and steady; tone it down to it’s Bo-oriented and you get the picture. Flocks of humans expanding with time, tide and treason.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none." - William Shakespeare

Sweet vibrations of Fall in the air with temps down to 51F and light mysterious mists. Again the winds remain calm early with the later hours an unknown commodity. Waters have cooled off a bit with recent days of savage gusts and booties are on people’s minds. Destiny awaits those that seek the coastal climes and new swells which originated last night have resumed their efforts this morning. Tides look favorable until the late evening decline upon dark.

CHANNEL:  Mid tide mashup and attended by many. NW windswell and solidified sandbars is a time honored formula that works consistently. Secret slideable rights can be sought and found if you are willing to venture out of your normalized zone and the left is smooth and regular upon this writing.

PATCH:  Steep S swell showing out and flowing over the reef in the early hours of morning higher tide. Something for everyone in a democratic way with the far reaches luring those looking for elevation sensations while the middle range produces less in stature but longer in length. Locate your longest log and tune in the sweet spot.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen Keller

Rosy hues above and wonderfully clear. 54F at the terrestrial level and no winds upon initial navigation. Sunshine blessings and warming permutations are felt. Primarily a mix of diminishing NW windswell and a steeper than optimal S swell to provide propulsive forces. Generally small but shapely and suited for longboards especially. Tide swings a bit less radical until the evening so no need to wait if you see something appealing.

CHANNEL:  Confronted by beauty with pink backlit hills and burnished waters below. Depleting energies from the NW making the hunt and gather a bit more involved yet always satisfying. Tide has found its basement and now fills in. Keep eyes open for other opportunities as water levels now change for the positive.

PATCH:  A bit steeper angled S than typically favors the Patch is toying with emotions and leaving us wanting more. Now the options reside in the deepest northern recesses and require a lengthy paddle. Perhaps upon the higher tides some forces may sneak in over the reef and ignite the stoke we desire.
