Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else." - Yogi Berra

Un-encumbered beauty in the tinted skies above. Clear and cool at 53F with light SE wind whispers and pure sunshine. Primitive skills being put to good use as swells rejuvenate and adapt in the depleted tide. Future outlook has incoming push before the swamp then quickly vanishing waters to rip the stoke away.

CHANNEL:  A worthy left of a lessened volume but adequate architecture spins freely off the Groin bar. Calm winds making for smooth surfaces and interesting angles. Incoming tide has been switched ON and may well elicit MaliBo insiders to spark to life. Heavy push keeping you busy on the return paddle battle as the length of ride trade off.

PATCH:  Stimulated S swell showing isolated creases in the far off regions. Not yet enough water to activate all aspects but seekers and dreamers have entered the arena. More water may be just the element needed to set sliders cruising for distances un-measureable.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11." - President Obama

Windy breeze running through tall trees and blue with blazing sun. Not a cloud in sight as morning breaks at a cold 52. A day of remembrance, thought and honor for all heroes on this day, seventeen years ago. A symbolic pause to reflect on what matters to each and every one of us and to use those feelings for the greater good. Wherever you are, we are all here together, as one amazing resilient community.

CHANNEL:  NW and S swell working in harmony as a dream team with waves clocking in thigh to waist on the sets. Off shore wind creating back spray off faces with a textured shoulder. Strong currents in the Channel proper as tide has switched to incoming making prime position hard to keep. Dig deep and remember noodle arms are great!

PATCH:  Distant lines on the horizon are a welcomed sight to see. Tiny black dots sprinkled along the surface spread out like wild blackberries ready for a jam session. Thick and syrupy, just like mom used to make.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The most rewarding things you do in life are often the ones that look like they cannot be done." - Arnold Palmer

Pink cotton candy and orange sherbet sky as the rising sun shines in all her gory.  A chill 52 bites in the shadows with temperatures rising to 70 by mid-day.  Morning commuters start their journey longing to be the salty seekers driving the other way.  Dawn patrol out in full force as empty board bags and full water jugs are littered everywhere.  Full parking as those who belly up are quickly surprised with the turn around.  Once settled through the gates to the sea, beautiful blinding sun beams warm faces as dog paws dance and prance. Happy Monday!

CHANNEL:  NW and S swell making their way through Channel proper.  A bit textured on the surface from last nights strong winds.  As the tide is turning back in, with more water the current knee high should result in thigh rides and slides till afternoon.  Currently 5 amigos basking in the sun with big smiles on their faces.

PATCH:  FUN - [fuhn] - noun:  something that provides mirth or amusement.  Enjoyment of playfulness.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The more we give, the more we receive.  It's important to give back because the seeds you plant today, you will harvest tomorrow." - Farrah Gray

Subtle blue hues poking out through muted gray as the sun is playing hide and seek.  Still and serene with the occasional car breaking the silence.  Weekend campers permanently in their spots creating the familiar loopy drive around hoping for something to open.  Those who are lucky and have secured their space, spread out and begin the change out routine.

CHANNEL:  Spotlights of sun beams dance across the glassy surface as the Channel wakes up this morning.  NW swell making its presence known in the thigh height as the secondary S swell pushes from below.  Currently a dozen out doing their best at dropping in on each other.  Practice patience, there is always enough to go around and surfing etiquette is key.

PATCH:  Five will get you twenty as long as you don't clam up.  The grass isn't always greener and most of the time, you have what you need.  Just open your eyes.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Some call us degenerates; others call us perfectionists. Us? We say we've found the serenity amidst the mayhem." - Unknown.

We all have children this morning. Frequent shrills crack dreams of a peaceful entrance to the day, as terra unlocks the doors for anarchy. Early morning drainage leaves daybreak dwellers practicing patience while the pavement feels the pressure of yet another surge of pleasure-trip seekers. In the air, it's sunny and poised to be splendid; in the water, a knee-high soup fills the bellys of those who care for the act, not the outcome. Atmosphere: known and anticipated. Conditions: lower expectations.

CHANNEL:  Blinded by the light, saving the soul from potential ruin. 100 pennies and counting. Periodic rumbling sets are devoured by lottery-eating hoards. Nothing is safe here though water levels rising promise a little more meat, and a lot more mouths. Shifts throughout the day will allow only the most resilient in spirit to manage. Darwin proves correct once more.

PATCH:  Four quarters and as small as we were expecting. Humility beget inner-harmony. Chose the way of life you want to live.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need." - Vernon Howard

Descendent fog hovers at ground level as we rise to no shine.  Windless and cooled out at 53F.  Again the salmon strike and dawn crackers remain fishing kayaks while others sleep in and allow the tide to fill.  Lightly textured from evening gusts while lesser swells compete for your attention.  Keep expectations in check and allow the natural probabilities take their course.

CHANNEL:  High treble from yesterday reduced to a low level bass with size dropping but consistency remaining.  Attended to by a roused group of stoke seekers using the incoming tide to refresh all functions.  NW windswell is the only component willing and able to land here and is doing its best to provide for everyone.  Only those dedicated and determined shall succeed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"No man becomes rich unless he enriches others." - Andrew Carnegie

National Read a Book Day but with the surf returning to our enclave that can be shelved until later.  Calm and comfortable at 56F with newfound faith in the power of the ocean.  Overcast and windless with a slight tendency to warm and flow sunshine.  Little swell combinations refract and revive in the early light and incoming tide.  Fluid and frictionless in all directions as sliders and salmon hunters jockey for ramp loading priorities.

CHANNEL:  Rhythmic rollers returning towards shore with a sweep leaning right and a determined capacity.  Fully loggable in every sense with incoming tide pushing an extra pulse of intensity before the late morning swamp.  Varying degrees of stature encountered with waist high apparitions at the top of the scale.

PATCH:  Revived but not full regeneration with the SW swell being minor but re-angled.  Enough provisions to cobble together a slow slide session and Jah will always provide when needed.  Knee high at best but that is doubled in size from earlier in the week.  Winning.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The past cannot be changed.  The future is yet in your power." - Mary Pickford

A new cadence with distorted rhythm as holidays pass and signal the end of summer.  Studious youths buckle down with heavy tomes while others consult tide charts and buoy data.  Fall is soon to be in range and the days start cool, muted and overcast before clearing to perfection.  Currently 56F and mixed wind sets early that should settle soon.  Slightly more localized swell to prime the pumps and rising tide hits apex early morning then generally plateaus.  As always, get in where you fit in and thrive.

CHANNEL:  NW windswell plays its role but some SW winds keeping the vibe in check.  Slightly coarse along the shore but not assaulted once at sea.   Incoming tide lends a slight push to all territories in sight and pelicans outnumber surfers 4 : 2 presently.

PATCH:  Well outside on a bearing with the far reef whitewater signals are the only enticement in the early hours.  Again the SW swell bears witness in the depths but refuses to show face upon the surface.  Mini micro insignificant breakers along the inside may realize fuller potential once the tide gets up to ramming speed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Believe in something.  Even if it means sacrificing everything." - Colin Kaepernick

Quiet, gray and calm as morning school goers and working commuters are brushing off yesterday's Summer celebrations while getting ready to get back to reality.  A tepid 54 with temps not expected to climb past 64 throughout the day.  Parking spots are more open then not as some weekend campers are still holding court.  Soft and breezy salty air tussling hair while descending the boat ramp for a quick peek to make a judgement call.  While on the wall gazing out to sea, be still in the moment of solitude.

CHANNEL:  Chunky texture with gray overtones and whitewater miniature A-frames.  NW wind swell still holds first place as the secondary S swell seems to be waking up from it's slumber.  Long waits in between sets with waves in the knee height with a little more push than not.  Though conditions are not ideal, they are more positive than negative and the line up is empty.

PATCH:  Full flags are up with little room to spare.  Take an hour or two to digest the leftovers from yesterday and hope there's still room in your dessert tummy for afters.  Tiny sweet tasty morsels may be ready for those who wait.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If everyone has to think outside the box, maybe it's the box that needs fixing." - Malcolm Gladwell

All roads lead to the same place as we celebrate Labor Day and those who work hard towards the well-being of our country.  A cool 54 and a thick gray sky makes for a perfect atmosphere for the long walk towards town from Mesa Parking lot.  Parking enforcers are out in full force, pay attention to signs, otherwise you will find a nice pink slip under your windshield wiper.  The stages are set, volunteers are out and the festivities will soon commence.  It's the official last weekend of Summer, so bust out the BBQ and light those coals one last time!

CHANNEL:  If perfect peelers and smooth surfaces are what you seek, then look elsewhere.  Textured bumpy surfaces mixed with a super small NW wind swell and waves in the shin zone on the sets.  More fishing boats out than paddlers who are floating and flailing in the shifting current.

PATCH:  Take it as a sign from Mother Nature..............today is the perfect day to hang with family and friends on land.  Go ahead, crank the music up and eat your third hotdog.  You deserve it!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Life is about creating new opportunities, not waiting for them to come to you." - Selma Hayek

A still chill at 52 begins the opening scene of act 2.  Familiar props being arranged on-set by roadies making sure everything is in place.  As preparations begin, character actors check the stage in hope of action and adventure.  Three desperado's armed with four guitars cases start the journey.  Come on, let's see if we can play!

CHANNEL:  NW wind swell going off script with textured surfaces and no ocean motion.  Molasses thick and gray, moving at a snails pace in the shin zone.  Currently 8 black suited members out getting a lot of practice of how to properly sit on a surfboard.  Those who have the extra paddle in them, catch short rides before the white water disappears into the abyss.

PATCH:  Ya know when you leave an open can of pop overnight in the fridge, and you reach in to grab it in the morning for a quick sip, only to be greeted with a flat salty sweet taste in your mouth.  Ya, it's kinda like that.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice." - Anton Chekhov

A refreshed morning after a night of gusty gales.  Systems now realigned and calmed with clearing skies and a temp of 52F.  Winds have graciously ceased and a smooth countenance prevails.  Parking already thinning with those posting up and settling in for the next 3 days.  Water temps remain pleasantly warm and the surf has come up a notch and is garnering interest from a wide range of eager participants.

CHANNEL:  NW windswell has doubled in size and now presents an acceptable facade.  Outside bar Channel lefts look silky smooth and loggable to most degrees.  Outgoing tide not dropping too low and helping to finesse the curl.  Size all the way up the thigh and possibly waist high.  Inner bar confusion but the essence of slides remains palpable.

PATCH:  SW swell continues to mystify and miss all applicable areas of inception.  Lacking the real energy to formulate a positive plan but occasionally offering up a glimpse of what could have been.  Knee high and below slow rollers are present but not persistent if that is to your weekend liking.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Sometimes the best things are right in front of you; it just takes some time to see them." - Gladys Knight

Unrepentant beauty if you stop to look around.  Partially clearing skies with blue and contrails visible.  A slight temp dip to 54F as seasons wind down.  No breeze or flurries and swells remain neglectful in their duties.  Fishing boats and SUPs command the horizon and hopeful sliders search for signs that signal a time to suit up.

CHANNEL:  Meager mix of NW windswell mingles with outgoing tide to put a damper on the enthusiasm and a texture on the topcoat.  Short term rides are the quick hitter option and bigger boards best suited.  Comeback tide change will provide the extra push and help to smooth the surface and quell the confusion.

PATCH:  But to wait for you is all I can do and that's what I've got to face.  Take a good look at me now, cause I'll be standing here.  And you coming back to me is against all odds.  It's the chance I gotta take.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler." - Albert Einstein

No wind, no fog, no love from the ocean as we sit and be with our true self.  Clearing skies and again early sun with temp already 60F with pleasantries.  Again we must expand our minds if we hope to cobble together a portion of stoke for it remains under wraps and must be sought and fought for.  Swell fragments are all we have to contend with and 3 to the beach is a worthy goal.

CHANNEL:  Short term NW windswell is the seduction but the range upon which it breaks remains in flux.  Inner bars well within the Channel proper have been the salvation under these and lesser conditions.  Movement with momentum to carry along though size dips below the patella.  Outside arenas pop and flop and leave most participants flailing and failing.

PATCH:  SW swell traces but not showing in any places while the tide hits low and resonates.  Reporters from the front lines did not deliver news hailing this area as having the energy to propel forwards any foam and fiberglass.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Happiness often sneaks through a door you didn't know you left open." - John Barrymore

A full reveal under diluted skies and beginning sun as we soak in the silence and breathe deeply.  No early chill with temps hovering at 58F and wind does not exist.  Tide has already dropped out and begins its return to positive levels of capacity.  Swells remain marginal at best so one must expand their perspective to take in the full range of options.  The wide open ocean is there to be savored and enjoyed even when the slides are minimal.

CHANNEL:  Clearing and peering with long stares into the distances.  While the Channel itself gives up no secrets other domains leak whitewater trails that may be worth the investigation.  A small NW windswell is the motivational speaker that has yet to distribute any brochures or informational packets.

PATCH:  A small SW swell, barely registering on the radar may determine the future for log loving Patch riders today.  Incoming tide from now until the afternoon is the open window into any and all aspirations.  It may or may not happen....

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There are some things that cannot be expressed through words.  And that is why we dance." - Robert Battle

Rain drops scatter and sprinkle as commuting car tires hiss on black concrete.  Hoods and umbrellas hide heads and faces while trying too keep warm and dry.  No wind felt and trees stand tall with leaves intack for morning feathered friends to hide behind.  As the early morning grind begins and routines take hold, take a moment for yourself and visualize the greater meaning.

CHANNEL:  Gray crystal glassy surfaces have returned as the wind has blown off into the horizon.  A cold 50 degrees with a miniature NW swell in Channel proper.  Teeny tiny white water crumble in the ankle zone making its way to shore like molasses.  Not enough push or energy for stand up or prone positions.

PATCH:  Skipping rocks to break the surface is the name of the game.  Find the flattest pebble, lean in and throw sideways.  Tally up the bounces and watch the ripples flow.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"At the beach, life is different.  Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment.  We live by the current, plan by the tides and follow the sun." - Sandy Gingras

Cool gusts of wind blast by morning walkers intermittently in search for coffee warmth.  The usual gray socks snugly fit the sky keeping the sun nice and warm.  Parking is a plenty as morning commuters choose the opposite direction, ignoring their internal compass to stay by the sea.  Once through the gate where the concrete gives way, velvety soft sand untouched by footprints is all that can be seen.  Ocean movements in mixed directions creating white water confusion.  A solitude moment with oneself; take the time don't rush, align and center.

CHANNEL:  Blown out NW swell as the ocean is a little mixed up with a case of the Monday's.  No real push or energy in the water and waves are in the ankle zone.  Not enough to convince anyone to get suited up and wet.  No one out, not even seals or pelicans.

PATCH:  Sharp pointy rocks mixed with beached jellyfish and hairy seaweed.  Queasy ocean motion causing equilibrium's to be off quilter.  Plant your feet, deep rooted in the sand and meditate.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but the capacity for action despite our fears." - John McCain

Still, gray and moist with a slight ashy smell in the air.  Pelican V formations overhead as curious fox scamper around.  Brisk at a cool 53 with temps not climbing passed 62 and no sun in sight.  Weekend warriors sparsely arriving as dawn patrol locals are already in the sweet spot having coffee.  No rush to put on the neoprene and boards are left on roofs tops, while the vibe is slow moving.  Take your time, take a moment and enjoy the silence.

CHANNEL:  NW swell barely present, as slow ankle waves moving at a snails pace are inching forward to the sandy shore.  Crumbly and ruffly on the surface with too much texture all around.  Currently two playful seals practicing their tumbling moves for their pelican friends.

PATCH:  Outside, the far meeting rock is waving its white flag in surrender.  Lumpy and bumpy in confused directions with no where to go.  Kind of like oatmeal made without enough water.  Slighty cooked, still dry in pockets and not enough sugar will help perfect the taste.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.  Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

High congestion on the low seas as a Kayak Fishing Convocation clogs the streets, parking, boat ramp and waters.  Intermingled are hopeful sliders looking for a sneak peek at potential poppers.  Swells have waned and early tides are low so Salmonidae wins the first round of the day.  Again overcast and likely to remain.  Temp tepid at 57F and light SW winds ruffling fur and feather to a slight degree.  Revolving water levels should open access to slides in the coming hours of the day.

CHANNEL:  Still surviving on the NW windswell that now seems a bit more hasty but requiring more water.  The Channel bar left has been the gem of the area when time and tides are just right which is not in the present moment.  The later hours have provided nourishment to sustain the hungriest of souls and expectations remain it will continue today.

PATCH:  Dropping swell and drained waters not optimal for Logger's Delight.  A range of rocks no longer concealed are a visible minefield of areas to avoid.  Under higher tides there may yet be rides but as the SW fades the size decays.  Happy to surf a knee high nugget if it shows and allows.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Just take your time - wave comes.  Let other guys go, catch another one." - Duke Kahanamoku

Salmon slayers in seafaring kayaks take advantage of the morning calm and low tides to launch.  Other seekers reside in a relative holding pattern waiting for more water to allow what swell remains to be fully embraced.  We retain our coastal overcast though temps are mild at 59F and winds are not a factor or issue.  Smooth veneers surround with the incidental bump to stir emotions and activity.

CHANNEL:  The determined few destined to rise early must contend with low waters and fading NW windswell.  Undaunted practitioners of the sport of kings they steadfastly linger along the deeper Channel bar as it is determined the spot to be.  What breakers form in the shallows only show the potential more tide may well bring throughout the day.

PATCH:  Not yet now but the fundamentals for later exists.  Re-calibrated SW swell still has energy and effort to give and awaits marching orders from Poseidon.  Incoming tide from 9am on should lend credence to those that desired to sleep in.
