Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"We all have ability.  The difference is how we use it." - Stevie Wonder

Melancholy morning filled with aimless wanderings as the search for stoke resumes.  Swells hold steady and ready though better suited to a bit more water which fills upon this reading.  59F degrees and high overcast with not a breath of wind on which to hear the fox calls.  Water temp again raised to levels deemed comfortable or warm.  Peace and tranquility a welcome respite and slides are available if you are willing to put forth a moderate effort.

CHANNEL:  Silky smooth little spinners with left leaning tendencies are the initial operating parameter.  Incoming tide lends a helping hand to push inner areas to a wider expanse.  A singular audience member participating in live time theater with mixed reviews but perpetual results.

PATCH:  Resolute SW swell remains active and able.  Inbound tide the logistic required to lay the groundwork for thigh high rides.  Water levels more than sufficient throughout the day to keep on keeping on.  While it lingers enjoy the joyrides!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you want to be happy, practice compassion." - Dalai Lama

Deeper meanings discovered within the depths of fog as we tip toe down dampened streets.  Observing nature in its natural state while hoping for undulations to stimulate the juices.  60F outside and full of humidity.  No winds though SW tendencies are alive.  Trace mixes of swells newly arrived have not yet been introduced to our coastline.  Filling tide just now turning the corner may well elicit the best in all of us.

CHANNEL:  Hypo-active NW windswell may soon be bolstered by new energy but currently remains calm and breaking in the knee high perspective.  The activated left revolving along the deeper Channel bar is your go to for the most consistent of the least size.  As the day unfolds more swell may unwind and add to the efforts and bring them above lackluster.

PATCH:  SW swell on the prowl though not yet germinated enough to galvanize the masses.  More tide may bring more determination and confluence to the area and allow loggers the easy cruise they choose.  For now we wait and watch in the grey light and know that all things do change in time.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“There are better starters than me but I'm a strong finisher." - Usain Bolt

Dew drop dark covered streets and slightly muddy paths leaving shoes brown with earth.  Cool with a start of 54 and dark gray above with no wind in sight.  Open court-side parking as most are focusing on checklist to-do's, making sure to cross the T's and dot the I's.  Those on a different path are out exploring nature at her finest.  Whether your journey is behind a desk or out to sea, realize it's all a state of mind and that all time is real time.

CHANNEL:  Glassy, calm and still.  Little forward movement from the NW swell currently occupying the water.  Waves sluggishly moving forward in the ankle height with little reform.  A two person kayak fishing crew are the only ones who are out making way to the outside.  With tide turning by mid-day maybe conditions will change.

PATCH:  Flat and gray mirrored cloud reflections as far as the eye can see.  The sound of silence reaching near and far to shore.  Beautifully gray and calm, a perfect moment to align crystals for recharging with positive energy.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe" - Marilyn van Savant

Windy streets with fallen leaves and gray covered sun ring in this morning's back to school week.  A collective sigh of relief from parental figures as kids of all ages resume a regular programmed schedule.  The sharpening of Dixon-Ticonderoga number 2's are a welcomed sound and smell to all.  For those who start later, one last trip to the salty sea is on the agenda.  With swell dwindling and crowds thinning, take a deep breath and give thanks to Monday.

CHANNEL:  Windy and slightly blown out, as the ocean looks a little sea-sick this morning.  South swell is no longer and what remains is a windy NW in the knee height with little push and excitement.  No one out and those who have made the journey are having in depth conversations on the sea wall on what plan B is.

PATCH:  Unorganized windy movements going sideways.  All gray with no white and too bumpy for birds to land.  Best to call it a day and stay warm and cozy with a good book.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Life is short, break the rules.  Forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly.  Laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile." - Mark Twain

Moody melancholy gray and thick moist fog blankets the sky with cool temps starting at 52.  Cars driving in slowing down as a new sign has made its mark with a sigh of relief for those who live in town.  The hallow sound of sticky wax rolling over fiberglass can be heard near and far for those who made the journey early to try and beat the crowds.  Conversations of smaller wave size are interrupted by sips of hot-joe to warm the soul.  There's enough for everyone to go around.  One for you, one for me and be sure to take one for Bernard.

CHANNEL:  50 of your closest friends already occupying one steep peak on the outside.  Smooth, glassy and waist to chest on the sets.  S swell lowering in size and duration today as the secondary NW swell is expected to take over soon.  Join the crowds and enjoy the masses.  Practice patience and remember to wear a leash.

PATCH:  Aerobatic athletes practicing aerial movements on thin sticks.  Less is more, for those who want to work hard choose to go right.  Bend at the knees to save your thighs and expect noodle arms at the end.  If you were an athlete, I would be your athletic supporter with both hands.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“To come to nothing through something is the way to outside from both sides." - Dejan Stojanovic

An environment tuned to an atmosphere that strums the like of that which is murky and obscure; touching down into this realm however, forces reverse towards anarchy as voices strike through the indistinct and fill up all voids. Word has spread as S angles redirect to cruise in more smoothly at better rates, while the WNW slopes in to give the fast-short of the day. Spots? No. Incidents? Already. Pack your awareness, send-away your rights to anything, and accept that this is a day to learn how to share, to pass a smile, and to know that each of us is only a temporary guest...let us act like the most gracious form of ourselves.

CHANNEL:  Packed but not jammed yet. Lefts of speed define the line between those who can and those who are trying. Glory sits in the golden-ambience of morning's birthing. Time shall  bring more human volume and changes in variation will occur in which we all seek. Thighs are tested, chests are breathing and hoped for. Sand banks altered to provide variable pitch. Grab a trusted steed.

PATCH:  One-hundred and one yards out masses join to spittle over the strength of those that may carry them in. Jump backwards to the inside and seek what remains as reforms provide steady waists which growth potential. A mob has packed in with no signs of leaving. Order has ceased. Enjoy. One and all are at risk of a depletion of sanity.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Take advantage of every opportunity; where there is none, make it for yourself." - Marcus Garvey

Rough riders and early sliders crack the dawn and activate twin powers.  Post party atmosphere and initial stumbling evident.  Already thin parking becoming even more scarce as tales of swell traveling over the vapors.  Coastal clouds and overcast but calm with no winds.  57F and rising with a silken surface to sea waters.  The crowds come in waves in search of the same which is readily evident today.

CHANNEL:  Continued NW windswell can't stop, won't quit and the outcome is positive.  Deeper Channel bar delivering the doses for all the craving surf junkies.  Waist high lefts are the cream of the crop but consistency has returned and the carousel continues to revolve.  Tidal comings and goings not likely to refute the truth and if you don't know yours, just look in the mirror.

PATCH:  With growth always comes potential.  Expectations expand proportionally and higher standards can be achieved.  Tempered enthusiasm is always the best approach to realize positivity at every turn.  Much steeper S swell has expanded in size but angled off from direct impact.  It exists and can be found, harnessed and riden.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life." - Mark Twain

Mist already burned away and now refreshed with sunshine, blue skies and early calm.  55F and nary a breath of wind.  Open roads with space to range and parking all along the boulevard.  A portion of the youths have resumed their studies while others froth to wring the last bits of summer to the very end.  Swells are active and productive though meager in stature.  Set sights on the great beyond and keep a broad focus and open mind.

CHANNEL:  The outside sandbars stand as ready soldiers waiting instruction and looking for action.  Firmly set and rigid to a fault they currently absorb the NW windswell and groom lefts which catch the eye and lure the body.  Tide swings a more manageable pendulum that allows for expanded options and a fuller range of perspective.

PATCH:  A SW swell of numerators attractive to logging purists.  Draining tide putting a few obstacles in your way but simple navigation should allow one to steer clear of danger.  Better yet to brew java and snarf vittles until the waters turn and revive.  A general smoothness upon the seas and slides can and will be had when all aspects properly align.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine." - Morris West

Co-mingled philosophies in the early light as one waits for the tide to turn and rejuvenate.  Slack winds and tepid temps of 59F embrace the day and humanity stirs but slowly.  Fox trots and hop, skip and jump along to view and commiserate on what was or will be.  SW swell looks to be humble but happening upon higher tides while the NW windswell sets its sights under all palatable circumstances.

CHANNEL:  Residual waters a bit on the lacking side as we cross from high to low and resume the fill.  NW swell in perpetual motion and seeking bars situated accordingly.  The tidal comeback is underway and the occupation is rapid and steep.  The window of opportunity opens and closes quickly today.

PATCH:  SW swell of some repute is currently regulated by the lack of water present.  Even in the absence the heart and mind sense the prospects and realize the value of patience.  Those not willing or able to wait must navigate the rocks and spines and seek the deeper waters where pleasures exist though in paltry amounts.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“The milk of kindness flows through my body, I shall follow Jesus to the Taco Bell and give thanks." - Aretha Franklin

Bursts of laughter in-between chatter as early morning runners are catching up on the word from the street.  Delivery trucks waiting for the magical gravel sound of gates being opened to off load and contractors are in line.  Mellow commuters making their way over the hill as summer goers make their way to the beach.  A balmy 55 with little breeze and no sun for now.  Down the ramp we go, taking in deep salty breaths and a reflective moment with hopes of finding what feeds our souls.

CHANNEL:  Smoothed out and glassy as the Channel has recovered from yesterdays wind.  Half crescent moon shaped white water from left to right as the NW swell is rolling on through.  Negative tides sucking out water to sea leaving crumbling low energy shin wave formations.  Currently one prone paddler out moving backward not forward.  If time is on your side, wait for the tide to turn.

PATCH:  The outside meeting rock is making its presence known and is standing proud for all to see.  With more land than sea, those in the know with time to spare will make it to the party late.  Making a grand entrance is always fun!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Sometimes the break in your heart is like the hole in the flute.  Sometimes it's the place where the music comes through." - Andrea Gibson

Thick dew drops falling from trees tops as birds are singing in tune.  The sun is too shy to come out to play for now and the morning temperature is starting out at a low 53.  Double up in layers and use the pealing technique system as temps climb throughout the day.  Open court side parking for weekend warriors have come and gone leaving a sense of calm and peace for now.  Down where the land meets the sea, the lapping water and sand handshake looks more like a messy high five.

CHANNEL:  Ruffled and muffled ocean commotion sets the foundation for today's pelican performance.  A gaggle of 50 pelicans standing on the sandy center of Channel proper as low tide is in full effect.  Crumbly on the outside sets as the NW swell tries to come through in the ankle height.  Two fishermen out trying to reel in the morning catch before the pelicans ahve their way.

PATCH:  Mass confusion as half a dozen are out and no one knows where to go, what to do and there's nothing to see.  Teeny tiny lines rolling through maybe in the ankle height but too hard to tell because no one can catch them.  Timing is the key and waiting is the name of the game.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“We are all a quarter good, a quarter bad, a quarter animal and a quarter child which equals a whole bunch of crazy." - Cara Delevingne

Easy breeze early morning chill with misty gray as far as the eye can see.  Remnants of yesterday's shenanigans can be seen as an Aerosmith t-shirt is all that is left from beach goers with curly hair honing in their inner Sharpay.  Silence is golden and soft whispers are overheard with meaningful discussions of the Trilogy Sanctuary; Crocs, Birkenstocks or five toed shoes.  Make the solid choice; flip-flops.  Making the journey, whether it's to Machu Picchu, Italy, DC or all the way to the couch in a onesie, always remember to stop and enjoy the view.  So go ahead, blow the candles out for the 80th time on a crazy cake and make a wish.  Just keep it a secret and close to your heart to make sure it comes true.

CHANNEL:  Over night gale force winds causing havoc this morning.  Washed out, blown out and drained out are the words that come to mind.  NW swell having zero impact with the negative tide and conditions not expected to get much better.  Currently no one out, not even the seals or pelicans.

PATCH:  A more responsive system of governance will be required in order to ride and slide.  Mother Nature has other plans for today's ocean activities so best to be creative with your time.  Take a hike, read a book or take a bath and enjoy this day of rest.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“It's that mind-heart connection that I believe compels us to not just be attentive to all the bright and dazzling things but also the dark and difficult things." - Bryan Stevenson

The once underground, harmonious space has once more flipped on its back and opened its layers for the masses. If one was not privy to the morning shine, ones possibilities of locating a place to dwell dwindle. For days that spanned petty weeks, forecasts have spoken of nothing but knee-high but the change has been embraced and all with the ride come out for the occasion. S swell remaining in opportunities; embrace what has come, what will, and what may never, for if one can master all three, inner joy and clarity will present itself and stoke the fire within.

CHANNEL:  Changes in motion, way, and volume give hope to those stepping their morning toes onto the delicate sand particles - singular, they hold up nothing, but together they remain malleable, and ever unbroken. Angles of solar shine hit strong. Look forwards while never taking your eyes off the now. Both directions to appear. Time, tides, and turbulence are the deciding factors today.

PATCH:  Stretched from shore to oblivion; kayaks paddle far and hard to keep up while wave movements shift and SUP-riders take over. Soup texture alters rider's-choice and expectations fall short of blowout desired. Understand that the masses will come. Share a wave if you can ride one. DO NOT run after people. This is a sacred place; no contemptible persons.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Defeat is a state of mind.  No one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality.” - Bruce Lee

Stiff S winds and minus tide confound early plans for sliders on the prowl.  Fog has blown in and surrounds and the temp stands rigid at 54F.  S swell grows in dimension but holds steady in direction.  More waters are needed for full actuation and evaluation.  It is out there playing hide and seek while the weather elements mystify at the moment.

CHANNEL:  The early dip and outgoing rip do not make for happy faces.  Fishermen mix with foam wranglers in the dead shallows and whitewash leading nowhere is readily available.  A sense of calm needs to descend and incoming tide can help the situation.  Pause to hit the reset button and give it a few hours to find a settled outcome.

PATCH:  Too early and no water makes for unavailable actions.  Incoming tide will be phase one in allowing the growing S swell to find its way and begin to unfold and advance.  The energy exists but is being held captive by circumstances beyond our control.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” - Jim Rohn

Fox turds on my doorstep - which is considered good luck in Haiti.  53F degrees and calm with light fog on the edges.  Continued NW windswell priming all pumps of stoke.  Lingered SW swell wanting to show itself but getting no avenues of expression.  Time to get creative and search outside the norm to find what nourishes and restores sanity.

CHANNEL:  Low tide dip causing a kink in the early morning plans of the few.  Now filling in and the hunt resumes in earnest.  Outside bars show initial orientation that may in fact be a false positive.  Deep inside the Channel proper new sandbars have formed and these are these are the keys to open doors of long rides.  A wave in a non traditional sense that will in fact carry you to a new destination.

PATCH:  It wants to work.  We yearn to participate.  There are signs of something yet it fails to produce activity enough to entice those beyond the No Wave Crew to engage.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Better be wise by the misfortunes of others than by your own.” - Aesop

No jump or bump as hoped and expected as we resume our wait for the next swell of merit.  Overcast skies a mix of cloud, fog and residual smoke lends as sepia tint to the morning rise.  Winds are rightfully calm and temp a tepid 54F.  Eyeballs are on it for signs of life and veteran sliders look to be making the move to the edge of the Earth.

CHANNEL:  Incoming tide filling the gaps and starting to exhibit a lurching left in the deeper confines.  Size remains less than waist high but the contour and form are pure and worthy.  Under the current circumstances it is a passable option and may improve with more water flow.

PATCH:  Unencumbered with waves.  Unrepentant in the absence of activity.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
“Heyo, Bo knows this, and Bo knows that / But Bo don’t know jack, ’cause Bo can’t rap.” - Phife Dawg

Smoke particles linger and cause the gleaming sun to shed a yellow light on the morning. Fog covers the hills but leaves a little gap for us to admire the sea. Glassy waters look so inviting, and a handful have responded with a little patients and a smile. A group of seals welcome us at the boat ramp, and the bird circle for their morning feast.

CHANNEL:  Friendly morning lovers bob and weave and share the the good fortune. Rollers coming in at under knee high, and lasting as long as you can make it. The tide is still coming in and will fill up quick. Too much water may be an issue but late morning should see some improvement once the tide starts to flow back out.

PATCH:  Can I kick it? Yes you can.  Can I kick it?  Yes you can.  Well I'm gone.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Seize the time....Live now!  Make now always the most precious time.  Now will never come again." - Captain Jean-Luc Picard, USS Enterprise

Patchy fog playing hide and seek with the sun's spotlights rays.  Calm and cool with a start of 54 and temps climbing.  Busy working trucks delivering the goods on time as commuter pass on by.  Today is the start of a brand new week.  Set intentions high and aim for the stars.  Always start at the top of the bottom.

CHANNEL:  Seagulls and pelicans swarming for position in Channel proper as the NW wind swell has exited stage left.  Ruffly and textured water surface and an added lack of push and energy, is creating lazy ankle high rollers.  Currently no one out, as one sea kayaker at the top of the ramp is trying really hard to load gear. Pack light and only take what you need.

PATCH:  Not everything appears what it seems to be.  Half of the journey is hope and a good feeling.  Trust your gut, take the plunge and see what tiny adventures await.  You will be plesantly surprised.

Charlie Tuna.jpg

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man's desire to understand" - Neil Armstrong

Lazy gray fog and heavy mist with a slight breeze as streets are slick and moist.  With hands at 10 and 2 taking corners slow while keeping an eye out for wildlife making a break for it.  Cars driving in hoping to snag a spot and praying for something, anything that closely resembles forward water ocean motion.  Walking to the gate with bated breathe, holding crystals tight all becomes reveled.  It's better to always look at the glass as being half full.

CHANNEL:  Calm, glassy and postcard picture perfect still.  No sign of life from the NW swell as three sled riders bob for apples and are coming up empty handed.  The pelican parade is back in action and putting on a dive bombing areal show; lazy tunas beware.  If surf is what you seek, try looking elsewhere.

PATCH:  Prone Position /proun/ - is a body position in which one lies flat with the chest down and the back up.  In anatomical terms of location, the dorsal side is up and the ventral side is down.  The supine position is the 180 degree contrast.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Any fool can know.  The point is to understand." - Albert Einstein

Less mist coupled with light haze that is being evaporated by rising sun and yielding to blue.  Cool at 50F but no morning winds which bodes well in the moment.  The dream is alive as NW windswell fights for purchase and the SW grows incrementally and has an existence.  Tidal movements neither hinder nor help so if you see it, you're on it.

CHANNEL:  The patient has a pulse and is being observed and attended to by the multitudes. Minor movements in the extremities and flickering eyes.  Streaming rights with little energy but force enough to break the surface are the option and offering known as best around.  Loggers starved for water therapy are willfully throwing themselves into the breech with careless abandon and joy.

PATCH:  Even though we both fly, give each other space and not the evil eye.  Acting like grownups.  Don't even try to hide cause the spot is blown up.
