Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You're entirely bonkers.  But I'll tell you a secret, all the best people are." - The Mad Hatter

Drained yet unrestrained as fledgling stoke seekers take early flight.  Balmy airs at 60F and blue beginning to burst through the coastal cloud cover.  No rustle of branches or unsavory winds to ruffle and what water there is has a smooth sheen and shine.  Still receiving energy and opportunity from a pesky and peaky NW windswell while the SW remains firmly rooted and activated.  Both require more tide to unleash their true natures and flourish.

CHANNEL:  Well I know the tide will turn, I know the tide will turn....  I know the tide will turn, I know the tide will turn...  I know the tide will turn...  I know the tide will turn.

PATCH:  Flaccid waves converge, on a rock hard strip of concrete, near a field of green.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Behind the cloud the sun is still shining." - Abraham Lincoln

Serenity reigns and all remains calm in the morning hours.  Overcast though we know clarity is coming.  Warm already at 61F and thankfully no winds blow.  All is quiet with the tide swinging negatively low.  Buoy study reveals the forces of nature we hope will translate to later stoke.  A gracious NW windswell has desires on Channel sandbars when water returns.  Altered SW swell has veered course and is situated for Patch impact in the afternoon hours.  What one does with the in-between hours will be your true measure.

CHANNEL:  Surf casting for fish - yes.  Surf Board riding for pleasure - no.  Tide too low. Nowhere to go.  Come back later after crystal and tide book consultation.

PATCH:  Well out past all meeting rocks a tribe of carbon fiber wielding lancers goes.  With no water available the swell is barred at the door for now.  Allow time to pass at its leisurely pace and you will be suitable rewarded at some point in the day.  Try Wait.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Discontent is the first necessity of progress." - Thomas Edison

Steady S winds and healthy fog above.  Extreme low tides and damp streets below.  58F and balmy with humidity thrown in.  A fine morning to initially stay deep beneath the blankets and hibernate.  Nature calls outside the door with fox and deer foraging.  Current swells irrelevant at present time and textured it the best way to describe the ocean.  If more movements are on the way they will reveal themselves in the later hours and under positive water levels.

CHANNEL:  Sand island exposure with the larger being inhabited by pelicans and the smaller under the control of 4 seals.  The space between may be a battle ground for territory but it is the only action worth watching in the early morning.  NW windswell exists but is not presently able to form breakers.

PATCH:  A SW swell still resides in the ocean depths yet its power and propensity remains a mystery.  All water has receded to nothing and below.  Rock pile navigation will be the morning mode and post lunch observations may show the next potential.  One human is giving it a long, hard look.  He may know something we don't.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about." - Wendy Mass

Low tide vectors and foggy connectors greet the day along with unexpected dumpster smoke.  Lightly SW winds will push a bit of damp against the cheek.  Moderate temp at 55F and a foreboding sense of calm surrounds.  Just NW windswell and faded SW to charge the chakra.  Few early movements on land or sea but the stage is set for afternoon action as the tide fills and the skies clear.

CHANNEL:  Beleaguered under negative tide conditions but fighting the battle to maintain relevance.  NW windswell will find the bars under proper angles of inception and knee high left rollers will be the outcome.  Morning onshore winds knocking down the stoke a notch but nothing can stop a group of frothy groms.  Better fishing now, perhaps surfboard riding later.

PATCH:  A sole delegate from the paddling tribe has determined the worthiness of outside endeavors.  Extra propulsion is required under drained conditions but the tide comeback has begun and the arena is open to sliders from all walks of life.  Seek thigh high rights and you will likely be rewarded as the SW swell is adequate and active.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Success is a journey, not a destination.  The doing is often more important than the outcome." - Arthur Ashe

Rolling windy tree branches creating shadowy creatures as they dance to welcome the bright rising sun.  A blazing clear blue vault of heaven above without a vapor in sight.  Cooler temperatures today peaking at 72 with a NW wind chill.  Sleepy townies slowly waking up as the approach to the gate is calm for now.  Walk with purpose and gratitude while keeping fingers wrapped around crystals for lines with positive energy.

CHANNEL:  NW and SW swell rolling through across the Channel as the NW off shore wind blows, creating steep drops from the tops.  Warm and blindingly sunny with rollers coming in knee to thigh high.  Currently two disciples walking toward the beacon of light with excitement.

PATCH:  100 dive bombing pelicans feasting on ocean treasures.  Most scoring a perfect 10 for zero splash on the entry.  Those who have had their fill bob on the surface while spiraling in circles from tiny lines rolling to shore.  Ian likes writing tiny spirals, they inspire him.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"All we are saying is give peace a chance." - John Lennon

Clouds and crowds leave us peaceful and serene. Greeted no longer by charging cars and bodies; a gratitude for the simple joins our easy breathing. Opportunities lay in what one can make out of nothing, rather than what one can do with everything. A mix of NW windswell tangos with a sharp SSW to unfold in a fluctuation of settings all around. Get out the crystals to tap into the realm of bliss. Leave behind everyone else. Everything that comes after may only be magic.

CHANNEL:  Beginning as so many mornings have before and continue to do so after. Golden hour sits upon the water in sight and ray-bound warmth, though cruising potential sticks to a windows-down stroll. Channel an untapped, inner reflection of what it means to be out in the water.

PATCH:  Untapped hopes lay slumbering in the push and pull of the ever flowing K.E. All that holds true sticks to the conversion of this energy and its medium ponders where to take the day. Empty in one, filling up on another. Listen for the soft things; shifts will whisper to you through space and time.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I am the lizard king. I can do anything." - Jim Morrison

A tranquility rests within this sleeping town. Early risers are met with a silence of unparalleled conditions for the remainder of the day -  one in which noise disturbances are kept in the topicality of uneven movements from the water. Sun exposure and giddy air temps leave us fraught with anticipation of overworked weekend dwellers winding their way towards their one last chance of pie. Out far beyond the world of time and responsibilities, the sea works her way within and above. Delivering leftovers of a days gone dream and fresh chop of a NW windswell, she anticipates providing more of the former and less of the later in a breakdown of a single word.

CHANNEL:  Beginning early, lower lefts provide the numbers with a little something to smile about. Movement and quality will be dictated by tidal fluctuation and patience is key for all who dwell. Share a smile and a wave. Rest mentally; we will all be okay.

PATCH:  And what your glances did not tell I heard in that deep voice, / And what to you was strange and sad / First made my heart rejoice. Oh! it was well that none around / Who laughed so merrily, / Had ever learned on life's great shore / The language of the sea.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it." - Pablo Picasso

Beams from above with warming capacity are out early and in full force.  Temp trending up and starting at 63F.  Remainders, residuals, remnants and guests extend their stay through the weekend and occupation is at a pinnacle.  Swells and tide a cooperative trifecta and the day is destined for congestion on all levels.   Practice patience and persistence to reach your goals.  Extend kindness and courtesy at all turns so that it may in time come back to you.

CHANNEL:  Double left-handers as the inner and outer bars work but not yet in full conjunction.   A new building NW windswell should translate well to all the nooks in this arena.  Seadrift still experiencing untapped potential and limited attendance.  Heavy inhabitancy up and down this stretch of beach which will likely be the measure all weekend.  Somewhere in Pamplona a rogue bull is having its day...

PATCH:  Tune in and drop in but make sure to look both ways.  S swell a bit steep this morning but able to freely diffuse unencumbered over the reef.  Size and period remain on point and the logging circumstances are ripe for all day action.  No apologies needed if the sun was in your eyes.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Effort and courage are not enough without purpose and direction." - John F. Kennedy

South swell arrival met by any and all sliders seeking stoke and glory.  Parking depleted in the early light as water levels have morning and evening intentions.  Mid week holiday extensions or surfer's flu the cause?  Calm and lightly overcast as if a slow motion daydream but already warm at 58F.  Light NW winds has most surfaces unwrinkled save for continuous rollers.  Most watercraft known to float seem to be entering the ocean so keep your head on a swivel and an eye on the canoe.

CHANNEL:  The left is back and fully occupied.  Enough NW windswell in conjunction with formatted SW swell have the right angles to revive and accentuate the sandbars.  Less size than last night but outgoing tide keeping it relatively clean and in the fun zone.  Deeper Channel is where the main action lies but sitting along the inner Groin bar will net you results as well.  Seadrift experiencing the same good vibes with less in attendance.  Waves to one's chest may be on the menu at some point today.

PATCH:  SW swell has grown in dimension and shifted angle to encompass a wider range of possibilities.  Freely flowing and fundamentally directed upon the deeper Patch region though do not forgo the inside.  Starting to show signs of an outgoing tide which bottoms out late morning but not too low.  Dotted in all areas with hopefuls searching for that one good slide to start the day positively.  Waves to reach waist and maybe higher have been conclusively observed.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"One point of view gives a one dimensional world." - Liz Murray

Strewn detritus from an explosive evening as signposts on your way to current clarity.  Damages look to have been kept to a minimum and traces of blue may be creeping through the early fog and ashen skies.  Winds a non issue and what exists has NE tendencies.  Temp 56F and rising.  Subtle swells with the horizon holding the key to our future ocean endeavors.  A touch of NW windswell remains and we wait for tide and Fabio to fill in.

CHANNEL:  Tide draining but not hitting rock bottom which allows for small slides and short rides to exist.  Lazy NW windswell the proponent of propulsion with varying degrees of sandbar over which to flow.  Late morning comeback takes its time to fill in but lends the gentle push needed to fuel stoke and fund Mali-Bo inside rights.

PATCH:  Size factors undetermined when in comparison to Mr. Power Mouse in stature.  Hurricane swell precursors attempting under low tide circumstances.  The vibes are palpable and likely felt rather than seen.  Use the third eye to locate and hope it remains long lasting.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what is right." - Brigham Young

Windy and overcast as is our summer norm.  Swirling gusts ruffling the displayed red, white and blue.  The groundwork has been laid for a day of festivities and revelry unrivaled in coastal enclaves.  Traffic control keeping town cordoned off with parking and shuttles up at Mesa Park.  Tug-Of-War kicks off at 9am with bragging rights at stake for a full year.  Parade, music and BBQ delights follow shortly thereafter.  Surf a relative afterthought and initially feeling low tide and wind whipped.  What swells are out there may be no match for what you may witness in the streets today.  However you do approach the day, make it championship caliber.

CHANNEL:  Mild NW windswell buffeted and battered by morning low tide and stiff SE winds.  The undaunted suit and boot up without a look or care in the world.  More of one element and less of others may reveal a refreshed perspective during the post parade hours.

PATCH:  Not happening nor looking like it can or will.  Though a relatively small but active S swell exists it may not make it out of one's mind and into actual translation.  Torn and tattered but freedom and dreams are not shattered.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center." - Kurt Vonnegut

A similar start to those seen in days past: finger-licking fog with a dash of wind-strewn airways and a depleted tide to give us another morning made for reflection rather than thoughtless action. What we may be told could soon deceive us once more but for now we hold out with hope of a clearance above and a settling within. With a flip, a flop, and an open mind, the strength of the WNW windswell will blow us a kiss before she sends herself on her merry way, leaving us with a longing, some hope, and a knee-high single-digit yard rider.

CHANNEL:  A bit of a same ol feeling we got sticking around. Stormy to looks and feel, there ain't nothing tangible for a physical sensation. Approach other pathways within for now and revisit later with a knowledge of small, short, and quirky. Fun appears only for those who enjoy everything little thing - don't spill the beans.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion." - Jack Kerouac

Seeping in through every crevice our Mother Earth has to offer, the heavenly fog greets us just as an ice bath to the body: breathtaking, refreshing, soothing and appreciated by those who understand the beauty of all. A day of endless openings as skies pose potential to clear and empty spaces in land and water await for those who seek a relieving Monday. Winds to arrive following a passage of time before they blow away for a proposed creamy day, while a WNW swell creeps in to provide opportunities for those who know.

CHANNEL:  Depleted in content, this area lacks all but what your imagination may conjure. Revisit to understand its budding opportunity; never a no but rather a definitely maybe some other time.

PATCH:  Out, out, and away. Jumbled and jived, the area holds humans chomping for the early morning activity. Feasible but dependent upon ones urge for anything and everything. As situations alter, classic low riders will be seen. Catch it before the crowds in proceeding days.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"To know how to wait.  It is the great secret of success." - Joseph de Maistre

Slow motion daybreak with fog blankets and early bunting in full evidence.  Night-vision mind-meld under morning dark conditions.  SW winds return but backed by warmer atmosphere of 58F and the high likelihood of eventual sunshine does exist.  Again those that dare at dawn are met with negative tides and textured stretches to traverse.  NW windswell fades while the S steepens and holds as reliable.  Options upon the later morning and into the afternoon will show improvement with increased water and lessened airs.

CHANNEL:  Early tormented topcoats based on minus tides sucking dry.  Now the ebb and the eventual fill sets the stage for anything goes.  A modicum of NW remains and is the driving force in this region.  A wide expanse all along and over to Seadrift has seen waves in varying degrees of small but actually rideable.

PATCH:  We're on a road to nowhere, come on inside.  Taking that ride to nowhere, we'll take that ride.  I'm felling ok this morning and you know.  We're on the road to paradise.  Here we go, here we go.

Variations on a common theme as we seek to end June on a high note.  Daybreak lows of tide and temp, refueling in the later morning and then holding steady.  Now 54F with light ENE winds and warming air to seduce.  Swells do remain alive, active and able to dispense in doses designed to stimulate stoke.  Find it where and when you can.  Savor it, share it, remember the feeling and make it special.

CHANNEL:  Well, I'm on my way I don't know where I'm going.  I'm on my way, I'm taking my time but I don't know where.  Good bye to Rosie, the Queen of Corona.  See you, me and Julio down by the schoolyard.

PATCH:  Low tide, more stone.  Filling back in and up but at a slower pace than sliders expect.  Do not reject, just show respect for the hard edges show no mercy to skin or foam.  Exposed feelings may take the brunt as well but a rugged countenance is required today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane." - Robert Frost

Full moon morning as skies clear.  Overnight gusties have been fully subdued and the temps start cool at 52F.  Early risers seek surprises but are not duly rewarded under negative tidal levels.  Alternate realities may need to be sought to remove the harsh texture within our viewing sphere.  Still have NW windswell and a better angled SW willing  - but waiting on water to fill in and cover the roughen surfaces.

CHANNEL:  Pelican Pete seeking morning treats in the shallow eddies that hold bait.  Inner bar lefts in residual water show the promise and potential that requires a waiting period to fill.  Incoming tides lend the push required to get the day started on a good foot.  Seadrift bars are no longer a secret as they dispense right handed pleasure under certain exposures.

PATCH:  Jagged expanses under beaming moonlight.  Fully exposed mineral masses not conducive to watery pursuits.  Settle in to the soothing serenity and pass the empty hours.  As the tide returns so shall waves and expectations run as high as one's waist.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there." - Bo Jackson

Glinting sunshine reflecting off all shiny surfaces.  Calm and composed daybreak backed by light NE winds and a rising temp already at 58F.  Hospitable swells linger and persist though early tides have sought levels well below zero.  Everything moves forwards and improvements are likely as the day unfolds.  Hints of greatness and full moon follies are to come.  Recharge all crystals and get ready to power forth into the weekend.

CHANNEL:  Little reeling lefts in the shallows and beyond with NW windswell the primary promoter.  Pits that pitch and have small windows that look into your soul and define your constitution.  Incoming tide sets Mali-Bo and Seadrift into perpetual motion.  Try Now.  No Wait.

PATCH:  Spiny rock garden and tide pool extravaganza in the early negative tide with entropy being reached.  Long walks and deep talks are on the morning agenda.  Brunch time water levels have the aspects required to keep foam fully floating and secure.  Steeper S swell keeps the rollers coming and etiquette demands everyone share - when possible.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Grey sky with no gloom and plenty of room to roam freely.  No damp or dank just peaceful and calm vibes backed by a temp of 55F and light SW winds that texture but don't torment.  Mid week wanderings with aspects of potential as a newer NW windswell arrives and a steeper S holds steady and ready to deliver.

CHANNEL: Finding the upper reaches of the knee and into the range of the thigh comes an inside left destined to be the wave of the day.  Elementally formed and finding the Groin bar satisfying and delicious.

PATCH:  Fully drained and unmaintained with rock garden apparitions that need more water to grow.  Bide your time until after lunch to see what changes are in store.  Nice small S swell a bit steep but may bridge the reef on the higher tides.  Logger's Delight if you have the big board.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Go out into the world today and love the people you meet.  Let your presence light new light in the hearts of people." - Mother Teresa

Lighter gray and less drizzle as flocks of birds wet their whistles while the sun is too shy to play.  A cool 50 with no wind in sight and a certain stillness in the air.  Taco Tuesday is upon us and here all day.  Whether you like hard or soft, spicy or mild, the filling combos are endless.  Just make sure you don't forget the cheese and guacamole.

CHANNEL: Glassy and calm with little to no push as the NW swell has taken over prime position leaving the S swell secondary.  Tiny waves rolling in waiting to bite ankles with no takers on the bait.  Sea Drift side is much of the same as fishermen are setting up shop for the day.

PATCH:  Mirage - /me'razh/ : noun - an optical illusion caused by atmospheric conditions, especially the appearance of a sheet of water in a dessert or something that appears real or possible but is not in fact so.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Never rush an emotion; everything in life has a rhythm, it is the pauses and silence that speak the truth." - Michael Jackson

Heavy misty gray with a breezy undertone causing windshield wipers to do all the work.  Quiet can be heard all around as wild animals are taking the morning off from signing.  Parking is a plenty as morning commuters have begun their journey to the other side.  Those fortunate enough to be on their own rhythm, are hunkered down under thick blankets with warm beverages.  Bundle up buttercup, it's cold and wet outside.

CHANNEL: S and NW swell readings on paper and have yet to be seen or felt.  Zero energy in the water with deep texture on the surface as mist turns into sprinkle water drops.  Tiny white water from even smaller waves in the shin height creeping in the center of the Channel.  No one out, not even fishermen.

PATCH:  Small lines on the horizon moving in slow motion with no white water in sight.  One lonely paddle boarder out not sure where to go or what to do.  Those in the know, are hunkered down and watching World Cup Soccer.
