Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Hope is never silent." - Harvey Milk

Thick, cold and dark gray dewy morning sky, leaving the sun's shining rays a memory of yesterday's past.  Moist slippery streets from misting drops with a smell of salty sea in the air as feathered friends sing morning hymns.  Rainbow flags proudly fly in celebration and unity of strength and pride for acceptance for all.  Let's dance together and rejoice as one big loving family on this special day.  Happy Pride Day everyone!

CHANNEL: On-shore south wind flying over water and sand, creating textured and confused ocean surfaces.  NW swell is no where to be seen with waves in the ankle to shin height in the Channel.  Ocean commotion happening on the Sea Drift side as massive amounts of sea birds dive bomb for morning treats.  Currently 4 hopefuls out bobbing like wack-a-moles in the in-coming tide.

PATCH:  Confused and scrambled salty surface resembling freshly cooked eggs in a cast-iron pan.  Once done hitting the snooze button, pour a cup of Joe, add some bacon and pancakes to stick to your sides and you should be all set.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"What is gone before is gone.  All you have now are the results of your actions." - Frederick Lenz

Sunny graces on smiling faces with only traces of swell remaining.  Early risers bask in the glory of a new day that feels destined for greatness or at least warmth.  58F now with no winds to ruffle.  Smooth ocean with high high sheen and every now and then a bump to get excited about.  Rapidly filling parking leading to expanding ocean participants.  Leave any and all short boards home and pull out the big log today.

CHANNEL: Still some NW swell remnants to be actualized and tides are at suitable levels all day.  A wide range of options with nothing off the charts but allowing for a nice even spread to the playing field.  New sandbars to reconnoiter may be the call today as surprise right peaks have been known to appear to those seeking new stoke.

PATCH:  The impervious and undeterred take the gamble on the lessor populated region.  A scintilla of SW swell remains and periodically pops up to stimulate mad scrambles and windmilling arms.  Exercise is underway and a slide or two may well occur.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Life is not a problem to be solved, but an experience to be had." - Alan Watts

Rise but no shine as the fiery orb remains hidden and dormant behind a depth of coastal fog.  Undaunted practitioners move steadily forward on the hunt for morning slides.  No current winds though they have been blowing in the afternoon hours.  Temp down to 52F and a pervasive calm in town.  Ample NW windswell will find the usual spots and the memory of the recent SW is all we have to cling to.  Tides are positive as should be your attitude always.

CHANNEL: New NW windswell in the germination stages as it looks to find a foundation upon which to reveal.  Incoming tide balancing the Mali-Bo inside right while most sit deeper in the Channel awaiting more.  Seadrift sandbars are solidly configured and worth the short journey and exploration.  At least thigh high or better with SUPs and longboards currently playing well together.

PATCH:  Where did you go?  I miss you so, seems like it has been forever that you've been gone.  Please come back home......

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The secret of getting ahead is getting started." - Mark Twain

A full reveal under sunny skies as Friday Jr. begins.  A sense of warming already felt under light E breezes and temps of 57F.  Residual swells labor on under OSHA sanctioned work conditions to provide where they can.  Groms suffering a mixture of burnt faces and rashed necks reconvene to repeat and rejoice.  Other stoke seekers know that both the early and later tides hold more promise than not.

CHANNEL: Fresh morning tidal influx just sufficient to tip the scales forwards.  Enough W in both swells to stimulate interest, activity and pursuit.  Sun drenched rotations glisten in the silence.  Thigh burners for slide turners are the norm being undertaken.  Someone please tell me - where's Larry?

PATCH:  Smoother aspects with occasional undulations.  Smaller SW swell dissolving yet returns for another round of tip toe to the nose.  Water levels on the drain but not getting too too low.  Get in early or get in late.  Either way, bring your biggest board to the festivities.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes." - Oscar Wilde

Skies a mixture of clearing pockets with some sun and deep fog banks that seem immovable.  Light E winds and 56F gives rise to hope of warmth and clarity.  Mid-day tide dips allow for morning and afternoon action with fading swells lingering just long enough to entice a dip.  Campers with a head of steam will soon rush to water's edge to display new found skills and confidence.

CHANNEL: Outgoing tide serving to shape what remains from the NW windswell that has graced the past few days.  A lone hopeful sits way outside in the deep Channel while small spinners run freely along the inner bar regions.  Diminished in size as energy fades but form and function still exist.

PATCH:  SW swell still in effect though on the waning side of its life.  Early tides keep coverage full and will allow for logs to feel the glide and find a ride.  Stoke in your hearts can be released and spread with just one simple slide.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Dreams are like stars. You may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny." - Liam James

Flocks of morning feathered carolers singing in tune and with gusto. Cooler temps kick-off the day at 52 with the familiar gray overhead and temps not reaching past 64.  Parking space is limited as summer time crews fill the void to get wet.  With the comforting sound of rolling wax and thick zippers being pulled, a level of excitement can be felt.  Whether you arrive early or late, fun can be had on both sides.

CHANNEL: Glassy and smooth surfaces with white water A-frame designs as the SSW swell is starting to show.  Lacking a little bit of energy due to the force of the negative tide hitting late this morning.  Rollers coming in thigh to waist in size with a mellow drop on the face.  5 tribe members currently out, who are stoked that waking up early paid off.

PATCH:  Eye spy with my little eye, humps and bumps left and right.  Tiny black dots sprinkled on top, like fancy sesame seeds on homemade bread, waiting for their turn to go.  After taking that extra paddle to feel the movement at a steep angle, the journey to shore is long.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I still believe that love is all you need.  I don't know a better message than that" - Paul McCartney

Gloomy gray thick blanketed sky keeping the morning rays at bay.  A cool 55 with temps maxing out at 61 with hopes of sunshine by mid-day.  A new beginning to the summertime groove as excitement grows with anticipation for surf campers to arrive.  Walking to the gate of the big ocean blue, remnants of party banners hanging from a Michael Jackson themed birthday party linger in delight.  Overnight campers are slowly waking up to start morning stretches and coffee rituals.  Negative tides rolling out as water slowly laps over rocky sand.  Hurry up and wait is the name of the game.

CHANNEL: Clean and smooth ocean motion as the NW swell makes it way through to shore.  One main peak in the Channel proper providing rides and slides in the knee high range.  Water quickly draining out to sea as the tide drops to negative soon.  Get it now or wait till late afternoon when the ocean returns to shore.

PATCH:  Far out white water crumbles can be seen with a naked eye.  Vertical members of a standing variety trying hard to find position.  A 5 member morning belly crew knows the way and point of enlightenment.  For these humble gurus can feel the energy and know when the time is right for knee high delight.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow." - Unknown

Cold, thick and dark misty gray as the wind has returned this Sunday morning.  The June Gloom is officially upon us.  A perfect day to stay home and celebrate those who have taught us how to tell corny jokes, wear socks with sandals and enjoy adventure in life.  That's right!  A shout out to all the amazing Dad's and father figures out there!  Thank you for all the love, hugs and turkey high fives.  Today is your special day; we honor you, we thank you and one day we hope to be as great as you!

CHANNEL: Mass confusion and white capped as far as the eye can see due to the strong onshore SSE wind.  Exposed sand bars all around and water not making it's way through the Channel with the negative low tide. Cold dark and gray everywhere and no one can be seen on water or on shore.

PATCH:  Nothing to see here................nope, nothing.  Except tons of exposed rocks who are shivering in the misty gray cold.  It's officially a stay-under-the-blanket-day and binge watch the World Cup and old episode's of Law and Order.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The only limits we have are the limits we believe." - Wayne Dyer

Early extremes not for the faint of heart as dense fog, wind and negative tides integrate as one.  The landscape looks tortured but time should heal all wounds.  For now not much to get excited about except the future possibilities.  Temp of 55F and SW winds.  The dedicated root down and suit up.  Others assess and roll back to bed until the forces change.  It is International Surfing Day so do find a way to get yourself wet.

CHANNEL: Exposed sands as far as one can see.  Wind whipped roughened surfaces suitable for nothing in this exact moment.  Returning tide and NW windswell are your bellwethers to later actions.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It isn't what we say of think that defines us, but what we do." - Jane Austen

A bit of June Gloom with some fog encroaching and pushed into open spaces.  Some rays of light beam down to radiate in special pockets.  SW winds swirl and ruffle lending a coarser texture to ocean surfaces.  Temp initiates at 55F and negative tides deplete to their lowest levels and remain there for a measure.  Those with unlimited time may see it through to a conclusion.  Otherwise, be like Brad and brew coffee or follow Mary for a hike into the hills.

CHANNEL: Dancing seals the only ones able to successfully navigate the terrain.  All sand and lots of it exposed to the light of day.  Tattered expanses and shattered dreams early may yet be realized during the PM hours when water is plentiful.  For now Seadrift is an option and can likely be walked to rather than paddled.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It isn't the mountain ahead that wears you out; it's the grain of sand in your shoe." - Robert W. Service

Sunshine for miles sure to bring smiles to all those not in school or working on this glorious Thursday.  Not a breath of air anywhere and temp of 60F initially.  Quiet countenance along the lanes as bedbugs stay snug and allow damp suits to drip drip and dry.  A stout NW windswell shows activation potential while the SW has relocated but holds form and intensity.  All are confounded by deep swinging negative tides which will engulf most of the early morning hours.  Stay ready, willing and able for the brunch hour through dinner.

CHANNEL: The ability to walk on water exists in this moment with surf casters and board wranglers knee deep in the thick of it.  Ocean landmasses have appeared and are expansive in their spread.  NW windswell looking for opportunity to justify its existence but can only find nooks of depth in unusual places.  Mind the hook and bait in your pursuit of stoke.

PATCH:  All rock and no glory in the morning hours of minus tide.  Once the water fills in and settles the games shall begin.  SW swell perfectly suited to loggers and spud chuckers does in fact require a measure of liquid above zero.  Water has renewed warmth and budding possibilities.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." Maya Angelou

A fully invested sun has burned through the morning fog and warms all paths to the sea.  Less density and decreased immensity as morning negatives have yet to reach a suitable elevation.  Temp starting the race at 61F and climbing incrementally.  Swells still activated though fading with water levels the limiting factor.  Lather up now - dive in later.

CHANNEL: Fully drained and unmaintained in the early hours of a deep low tide swing.  All swells on a collision course with shore but currently barricaded by sandy bottoms.  Indeterminate size with nothing notable able to pierce through.  Tap into the coconut wireless network for late morning updates when the tide returns in earnest.

PATCH:  New moon with morning blues and the negative tide gives us all time to ruminate.  The farthest realms are strewn with paddlers attempting to mine the stoke and find a nugget of the S swell still circulating but left out in the cold of last night.  Tide is your friend but he has not been invited to the breakfast activities.

Crystal blue hue reflecting the glorious sunshine for all to see.  Cars traveling inward as word has traveled fast from stringed tin soup cans.  With hope of finding space both on land and in water the summer time train has begun.  Dawn patrol knows where it's at, as they have secured the best spots in town.  Pack essentials and don't forget your patience and the sunscreen.  You will need both today.

CHANNEL: Warm, sunny and a bit ruffled in direction than most were expecting.  NW and SSW swell are heating up and having a conflict of interest as whose turn it is to go and so are the dozen or so neoprene worshipers.  Chest to shoulder on the sets with a fast dropping face.  All sleds in different shapes and size are out and working.  Mind your manners and remember your etiquette.

PATCH:  Sea crafts of all varieties out in full force trying to find the right spot.  Things may seem larger than they appear on the outside and those who know the lay of the land, understand it's better to wait and let it come to you.  For those are the ones who are able to ride to shore.

Morning tractors motoring at a leisurely pace into the bright yellow sun.  Calm trees resting for the wind has slept in this morning.  Feathered friends sing in tune welcoming the stillness from branches above while chickens chant below.  Slow wake ups are here, as school is finally out and summer has just begun.  It's the joyous start to no scheduled time, playing with friends and soaking up the sun.  Enjoy this time to create warm sandy and briny memories!

CHANNEL:  Wonder twins power activate.......form of NW/SSW swell, form of waves!  Yep!  You read that right friends, there is swell and there are waves to be had in the waist to thigh zone all across the Channel.  Lefts and rights in the blazing sun are keeping our tribes warm from the cold 50 degree water temp.  It's Monday, it's beautiful and a perfect excuse to use up those remaining PTO and sick days at work.  Catch it if you can!

Morning wind passing through with a chill as the bright yellow sun says hello.  Running warriors gathered from near and far to set out on a huge adventure as no parking signs and volunteer flaggers are stationed up and down the hill for the annual Dip Sea Race.  Practice patience and cheer along as you make the slow journey to where the land meets the sea.  Upon arrival, conversations and debates of sled size to maximize rides and slides can be heard with anticipation.  Longer is always better.

CHANNEL:  WNW swell arrived and is ready to lead the conga line through Channel Proper.  Knee to thigh on the sets as the sun's warmth penetrates neoprene riders to shore.  Get in line, practice your dance moves in your mind and go when it's your turn.  There's plenty to go around for everyone.

PATCH: Follow Beth, for she has the secret sauce for the best guacamole in town.  Fresh and green with all the spicy fixings.  The best side dish to bring to the party.  Reach in to take a bite and remember to bend your knees to the right; your thighs will thank you.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks, however small. And in return, life - and travel - leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks - on your body or on your heart - are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt." - Anthony Bourdain

Once more the blue sky arrives in perfect hue, bringing with it promises of glory within and around; temps rooted, steady, and rising while winds hold light for now but question the singularity of one element rising with time. With the tales of a long-period SW making its way, the pulses are felt with anticipation and inconsistency for now. Letting all variables ripen with time is key, but open an ear, for the winds' whisper appears to talk of an unspoken howl.

CHANNEL:  A time and place for making dreams that never quite existed come true. Few and far between, riders stand atop golden chariots, riding the sun into the shore. The bodies outweigh the supply but patience and placement are keys through the door of bliss. Look to figure out when it works.

PATCH: Breaking far to close to shore; the variation between potential and reality is dissatisfying to the taste buds. Movement is all but stagnant as tides come to a high. Less of two is desired for the knee highs and while one is guaranteed, another plays for the wild card.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There are mountains growing beneath our feet that cannot be contained; all we've endured has prepared us for this; bring your hammers and fists, we have a glass ceiling to shatter." - Rupi Kaur

There are rumors roaming around of our beloved June gloom, but the dear friend is late to our party. Starting out with clear skies, calm waters, and full spots, today is another day to celebrate that which is. Now and later to come, plan the time and the rest will follow. Take what you're given and make gold out of it.

CHANNEL:  Just as we do with that yellow sheet of paper, we can only stare at the golden hue reflecting off of the silk-strewn water, for surfing or drawing on that gilded surface will only disrupt that which is: nothing.

PATCH:  Long, lean, mean and clean. Friends come and go but never does the liquid not return. Promises attract some numbers but it seems there is love enough in the air, for the best slices of pie are shared, and the smaller ones given to those in need. Liquid luck serving us up a feel-good Friday.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." - Nelson Mandela

The morning is young and the sun was out, but is now hiding from us behind some gray clouds. Soft water looks inviting as the tide retracts and the wind has little effect so far. The time may have already past for the first half of the day, but many seem optimistic. Keep your head high and your toes low and make the best of the day.

CHANNEL:  Unknown and empty, give it time to think about itself and it will open up to you.

PATCH:  Rumor swirling in the morning breeze of past opportunities. 5 remain to tell the story and continue searching. Little dribblers allow longer rides than one would first observe, now is better than not at all.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"It's also selfish because it makes you feel good when you help others. I've been helped by acts of kindness from strangers. That's why we're here, after all, to help others." - Carol Burnett

Bright lights descend from the skyline and the morning has begun. Warmth on the way and already feeling it with a current temperature of 64F. Looking like the beginning of a bright summer's day, however, little breezy buddies gusting through as a tease. Little to no movement in the water, with the tide going out. Spend time thinking about what's best, commit, then re-evaluate.

CHANNEL:  Sweet nothings float by no one. Hardly enough to push a log. Try outgoing and kill time killing breakfast.

PATCH:  Two are out there, two are not surfing. Looking like a mellow and still day out here.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf" - Jon Kabat-Zinn

Early morning easy breeze floating through the suns brilliant rays.  A cool 52 nip in the air greets morning walkers of the two and four legged variety.  Morning commuters heading out as delivery trucks bring in the goods.  The approach to the ramp is quiet for now as parking is plenty.  Through the gateway to the sand we go with optimistic eyes and hope of seeing lines with energy.  With eyes closed and whispering chanting prayers asking Mother Nature to deliver before seeing the reveal in all her glory.

CHANNEL:  Tiny shin or knee high waves (depending on how tall you are) rolling out with the NW tide.  A bit more energy in the water can be seen, though too little water to make a difference just yet.  As the tide turns, Mali-Bo should start to appear for some late afternoon fun.  For now practice patience and wait.

PATCH:  There's nothing like the sweet smell of pancakes bubbling in cast iron pans.  Golden brown, crispy flat and warm enough to just melt a pat of butter.  Don't forget to use only 100% malpe syrup on top.
