Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Be like a duck.  Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath." - Michael Caine

A surround of pink tinted clouds and just turning light blue above.  Listen as birds chirp and surfers sing a chorus of "I'm stoked it's not raining."  Fox and raccoon do a feral dance and all feels clean and refreshed.  Temps hold steady and ready at 45F and no evident winds are felt.  Mixed signals in the water with NW swell and SW windswell competing for supremacy.  Rising tide peaking out just before noon signals the time is now with a bit of extra push.

CHANNEL:  Non-consistent opportunities across a wider expanse than usual.  Incoming tide gives rise to choppy rights along the inner Mali-Bo district.  Groin bar rollers have more intention of right of way travel and are short lived at best.  Deeper Channel offerings show promise and smoother frontages though shifty and elusive to line up.  Options and choices to entice almost anyone needing a dip in the ocean.

PATCH:  Enough west in the swells with just a touch of south prevailing.  Filling the tub with water over time to keep all rocks at bay.  Well outside has projected breakers with whitewater followings.  Middles a bit more composed with rights that will allow a ride and some glide.  Ride it how you like it and never compromise.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Hidden in the glorious wilderness is un-mined gold." - John Muir

Cleared skies now blurred while rain resumes though not with a malicious intensity.  Temps chill out and down to 43F.  Winds actually remain muted currently giving rise to hope for smoothed conditions.  Easy to hide and bide time as you see fit.  With tide filling in the jump off point is now.  NW windswell and an emergent SW lend credence to the look and see attendees.  Those that know have already made their decisions.

CHANNEL:  With light winds this locality benefiting from a calming touch.  Tidal influx giving more water coverage to settled sandbars to allow for action.  Storm strewn beach more stone than sand but accessible with little resistance.  Peaks at random and thigh high intonations.

PATCH:  Not without a dose of confident conjecture does one stride down the beach to bear witness.  The buoys read positively and the water levels are ample and improving.  Follow your heart or at least the one in front of you for they may well know more than most.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"You cannot fail unless you quit." - Abraham Lincoln

Sheets of precipitation falling steady onto soaking streets as the wind takes a break for now.  A warm 55 air temp with the sound of silence as creatures in all forms are sheltering in place from the storm.  Hunker down and stay warm inside as Mother Nature has other plans today.

CHANNEL:  Mass confusion all across the Channel and Sea Drift side as the WNW storm swell is in full effect.  Thick white soupy foam churning in unnatural formations from the strong winds overnight.  The boat ramp has water falls streaming down both sides making the approach to the beach unsteady.  Be sure footed and use caution when approaching.

PATCH:  Frothy white cap covering the oceans surface telling us what we already knew.  Its a perfect day to catch up on heats from the WSL Quicksilver Pro Gold Coast surf comp.  Make a green smoothie, watch and live vicariously through Medina, Wright and de Souza.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The voice of the sea speaks to the soul." - Kate Chopin

Thick and gray with dew drops falling not giving the sun a chance to peek through to say hello.  Cool start at 48 as foggy horns can be hears in the distance.  Hitting the snooze button one more time in preparation for the day ahead squeezing in 10 more minutes of warmth. A slow and steady start seemingly early with the change in time.  Start the ball rolling with an extra cup of joe while aligning crystal patterns in anticipation for the stormy weather to come.

CHANNEL:  Ruffled and shuffled NW swell churning through the Channel.  Too much water to break and too much fog lingering.  The Channel is feeling the storms presence ahead of schedule as lumps and bumps are confused as to which direction to come in.  Nothing worth riding this morning, with tide rolling out conditions may improve.

PATCH:  Looks like someone forgot to put a dime in the juke box and the record is spinning.  Around and round it goes where it stops nobody knows.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I want to go ahead of Father Time with a scythe of my own." - H. G. Wells

Foggy gray ghost sky with a morning dew overlay bumping heads with the sun, too soon to tell who will come out on top.  Waking up on Father Time's early schedule feeling backward though already ahead.  Doing a double take at the phone clock, questioning if it's true, missing the good old days of being able to call popcorn to confirm.  Once realizing that all time is real time, the adventurous journey begins.

CHANNEL:  Socked in by fog this morning the Channel is keeping wave size a secret to the eye.  The waters edge is smooth, calm and glassy with the air temp at 48.  Buoy reading coming in at 1-2 feet throughout the day, no wind and a diminishing NW swell.  Parking is scarce and shadowed figuers can be seen walking into the gray.  Trust your gut, believe and all questions will be answered.

PATCH:  No matter what we get out of this.  I know we'll never forget.  Smoke on the water, fire in the sky.  Smoke on the water.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world." - Roald Dahl

Slight fog reprieve sets visuals without the blur.  Temp up to 52F and light winds have it smoothed out and chill.  Swells still showing presentable markers though starting to ease back with time.  Tides are the limiting factor with better performances under fuller conditions.  Early and late show the most promise with mid-day less than adequate.  Sun pockets may make brief appearances and precipitation gets pushed south until next week.

CHANNEL:  Inner rumblings shunted along the Groin bar this grey morning.  Withering NW swell still has some efforts to give though gusto dwindles.  With tide running out to low the very earliest birds have already found what worms exist.  Now going slack and sedated with early afternoon on the radar for slides.

PATCH:  One too many times I fell over you.  Once in a shadow I finally grew.  And once in a night I dreamed you where there.  I cancelled my flight from going nowhere.  It's all I can do, to keep waiting for you.  It's all I can do.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hide and seek within the mists and fog as it deeply penetrates on land.  A day to go back to basics and review tides, swell, angles and direction if you seek to quiet your mind and soothe your spirit.  Winds are light and temp dips down to 47F but the buoys show signs of life and the great unknown awaits....

CHANNEL:  A bump and jump in the NW swell co-joins WSW windswell and probability numbers boggle the mind.  No visuals exists due to deep condensation.  Land markers obscured but a trail of footprints in the sand show movement in this direction.  Again the tide depletion will be a limiting factor as lunch time approaches but clearing skies should lend clarity to the situation at hand.

PATCH:  Positive prognosis based purely on conjecture and crystal readings with a careful review of swell dimensions and aspect of direction.  Dropping tide makes time of the essence with the moment passing as the fog clears.  Noting the regular vehicles with empty roof racks lends credence to our initial impressions.  Always, a dip in Mother Ocean is nothing less than therapeutic.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I never learn anything talking.  I only learn things when I ask questions." - Lou Holtz

Wandering paths and rivulets of light rain while we seek alignment and options.  Mild temps under overcast skies and warm already at 54F.  No winds presently with hopes for a quick clean up to roughened conditions.  Swell angles show promise if not great size and the eye of the beholder varies within each individual.

CHANNEL:  Tidal drain set to hit just above sandy bottoms leaving NW windswell no place to exhibit.  Harbingers of new beginnings may be in the later offerings after some tidying up chores and added water.  Sandbar applications are submitted and allocated and now we wait for any swell of consequence to appear.  Listless contributions have thigh high markers but poor formation today.

PATCH:  Shifty and sloppy in a monochromatic space leaving the lone attendee shaking his head and muttering curses and accusations.  Less water not helping the situation presently.  SW windswell elicited from recent minor storms may well bring some stabilization to the area under the afternoon higher tide.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There is love enough in this world for everybody, if people will just look." - Kurt Vonnegut

Patchy white clouds muting morning yellow sun with a breezy NE wind chill.  Trees groaning against gusts of wind as birds dig in to hold on tight.  The sound of silence breaks as delivery trucks pass by with pallets full of goodies.  School bus pick ups resume on regularly scheduled programs as automobiles exit stage left onward to working commitments.  Take pause and a deep breath as getting there is half the fun.

CHANNEL:  Low tide bottoming out this morning as the NE wind makes its presence known.  Faded WNW swell has left the Channel with ocean motion size in the ankle over toe.  Sea Drift side is flat, ruffled and shuffled from lack of swell and lots of wind. Lacking energy and form over shifted sand bars the only ones out are those with fishing poles.

PATCH:  You may want to plan a board discussion at the meeting rock this afternoon.  Lots to hash out and lines to go over. The beginning may be rocky and sharp though smooth sailing could be the end result.  Give it time, pay attention and listen with your eyes.  It's all in the details.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Not everything comes along just when you want it.  There are times when choices just have to be made or you'll simply miss out." - Frances McDormand

Crystallized ice decorating rooftops and windshields as sun beams refract light in different directions.  A chilly 35 welcomes the start of the working day.  Bundled up in layers of warmth to defend the cold and mild wind contemplating the day's priorities.  Checking to-do's against internal inventories might be the deciding factor of which to complete first.  Kick-off the adventure with clear intentions and excitement for new beginnings.

CHANNEL:  Low tide mixed with a slow and low WNW swell is creating less than ideal conditions for the Channel this morning.  Super shallow and super small with set waves clocking in at shin over ankle.  A light off shore wind flowing through creating wispy white foam spray as fishermen are out in full force determined to score today's catch.  Be careful of lines as you make your way to the sand bar.  As tide shifts, conditions could improve.

PATCH:  The bottom may be rocky this morning, though given time, smooth sailing may be in the future.  Teeny tiny lines through squinted eyes can be seen by those who have faith.  Ask, believe and receive.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Don't think you are, know you are" - Morpheus

Blazing ball of sunshine rays making a grand entrance across the crystal clear blue sky.  Cold and beautiful at 37 starts this day of rest.  Still and quiet as walkers by take in the moment while hunting for sustenance.  Those who had an early start are one step ahead in neoprene suits, holding long sticks while walking to the edge of the earth.  Feeling the faith and ocean calling right before taking the plunge in the cold drink.  Those faithful followers heed their internal call and don't need to ask because they already know.

CHANNEL:  Glassy and bright with calm energy in the water after the weeks storms.  The WNW swell is fading today, leaving behind smooth knee to thigh waves.  A bakers dozen in the line up vying for position to take right or left.  Remember surf etiquette and play by the rules, there's enough to go around for everyone.

PATCH:  Keep in mind that getting there is half the fun.  Let the sun be your guide as you soul search to the horizon.  Ocean kisses on ankles and shins are the best kind on a Sunday morning.  Pucker up buttercup!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore ." - Andre Gide

Open skies and open minds while we delve into the uncharted.  Capacity to douse and drench followed shortly by exponential aspects of sun and warming moments.  At this occasion in time it is 44F with clearing skies and light NE wind.  Since time cannot be frozen this is subject to dramatic change.  A jumbled composition of ocean swells borne deep in the sea are finding their ways to shore with varying states of successful forms.

CHANNEL:  A fine little left handed grinder has sought out the angles of derivation and is landing fairly square upon adequate sandbars.  Not exceptional in size at waist high, but the shape draws the eye in for longer looks and paddle outs.  As the tide fills in an extra push may well be felt and a composed wave is a welcome sight under any circumstances.

PATCH:  Still feeling some effects of weather related sickness though on the mend with some smoother aspects approaching.  More a function of residual swell activity with no real energy pointing positively this way.  SUPs are on it early on the lower tides but logs may find the ability to slide away an hour or two if the winds remain light.

"I don't know whats happening to people today, when a child, he is taken away." - The Cranberries

As times or chaos settle for the moment, we escape to a place where the water always flows. Rain falls and cleanses the street of bad juju. Wind sweeps away bad thoughts and we are awakened once again. With winter weather returning, the sea shows signs of stress but keeps its composure for those who enter. Constant bumpers playing around and the good tide in NOW. Wait no more, time does not play well for tides. its either NOW or NOON.

CHANNEL:  Pretty little slopes patiently popping up for the group of 1. Working. for now.

PATCH:  Don't even bother.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Life is a sum of all your choices.  So what are you doing today?" - Albert Camus

Much wind and rain with no rhyme or reason.  No quite fit for beast or man to be out and about without adequate reason.  Stiff SE winds and temp of 52F.  Foul weather gear a must and boots a needed accessory as well.  It is needed and mostly appreciated except by those seeking slides today.

CHANNEL:  Shredded and filling with more water to add to the confusion.

PATCH:  Not happening and not likely to improve today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The free exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in the world." - John Steinbeck

Frozen goodbumped skin under layer upon layers of clothing.  A super cold start to the day at 35 with sun shiny reflections and light wind.  Silent streets as most are hunkered down for warmth.  As the moon is in Perigee phase, tidal swings are sharp to negative by mid-day and turn up in the evening.  It's an eight white finger day and today is the calm before the storm in days to come.  Step outside, appreciate the dry weather and thank Mother Nature.

CHANNEL:  Too much water to make a difference in the Channel proper this morning as the NW swell is slow and chill, like the 50 degree water temperature.  As the tide drains this morning, conditions may improve on the Sea Drift side.  Currently knee size with three adventurers out in the Sea Drift area.  It may take some extra effort to get there and it could be worth it.

PATCH:  Birds bobbing for fish as reflection waves are highlighted with sunny rays.  Small bumps appear and disappear creating a water mirage.  Trust your gut and instincts as things may not seem as they appear.  Visualize the outcome before you begin.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"There is a crack in everything.  That's how the light gets in." - Leonard Cohen

Morning showers and thick gray clouds breaking way to patchy blue.  Calm and cool with a brisk 48 and slippery roadways.  School bus pickups and delivery truck drop-offs return to regularly scheduled programming.  10 and 2 on the wheel as we make our way through the weeks beginnings.  While the daily grind commences don't loose consciousness of what feeds the mind, body and soul.

CHANNEL:  NW swell draining out in slow motion as the ocean water is a cold 50.  Small bumps not turning over in the knee high range.  Lot's of current in the Channel as the out-going tide is fighting it's way out.  Sea Drift side has less current and same size in the knee range.

PATCH:  Crepes are great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Flat and thin, savory or sweet, pick your fillings wisely and enjoy the yummy goodness!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"These are our friends and the global community of curling is really an incredible group of people and it really embodies all that we hope humanity can be." - John Shuster, Skip, Men's Gold Medal Curling Winner.

Golden hue of yellow brilliance performing morning stretches across a bright blue template.  A cool 39 with absolutely no wind in sight.  Early morning risers donning their best bib and tucker in hopes of catching the tide just right.  Longest logs are spotted trying to seek joy rides in slow motion ocean movements.  Focus on upper body strength as the burpee workout may have to wait till tomorrow.

CHANNEL:  Cold water temps at 50 with a slow NW swell.  Inside is the best side as waves psyche out surfers on the outside.  Low in energy and form, shin formations gather inside the Channel proper.  Tide coming in and going out on a SW angle and the swell has little to no impact on the Sea Drift side.

PATCH:  A cluster of hopeful disciples praying on bellies for more to come.  Perfect timing is the key element as Mother Nature has other plans for the oceans water.  Some are waiting for the tidal shift, passing time collecting driftwood for future art projects as others are watching the walrus kiss the mermaid.
