Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." - Aldous Huxley

Cherry blossom winter morning with frosted surfaces and temp of 32F.  Full sunshine as a respite from the cold and tamed winds to keep the bite to a minimum.  Fox cries pierce the calm and signal the early rise and shine.  Still content with NW windswell operations and steeper S that has grown a bit in maturity.  Both productive to the best of their extent and while water levels exist, so should slides.  Bundle and brace for the chill and wear booties if you must.

CHANNEL:  Inconsistent mix in the midst of a draining tide.  Outward pull sucking the life out of each potential face.  Still a solid sandbar configured for NW swells and luck can be had on the higher and incoming tide or over at our neighboring Seadrift.

PATCH:  Friction-less findings with rightward leanings that have drawn the early crowd.  Steep S swell finding acquisition angles previously unknown.  It is a hasty race to beat the low tide or wait for the refuel.  Now thigh high outlooks are probably with future forecasts undetermined.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed." - Henrik Isben

Steady NE winds that tempt, tease and chill have early temps down to 37F.  Clear and sunny as far as one can see with wood fired accents in the air.  Pitchers and catchers get after it today as a new season is upon us.  A good-natured mix of swells on the fade still giving rise to bumps and rollers with all access passes distributed.  Super early high tide now on the drain lending an aspect of funk as water levels decrease.  A day to get in early or try wait until later.

CHANNEL:  Spray tops blend with shallow bottoms while the NW windswell realigns.  Transformed territories seeking a grasp while the tide rushes out to sea.  Lesser corners can be summoned and slid.  Temper expectations and enjoy the ride.

PATCH:  Wind protected and sun laden morning has most aspirants heading this direction.  Though still outnumbered by carbon fiber lancers, loggers can make hay and uncover hidden nuggets of stoke.  Smooth and glistening in the early light, right-handers have penetrated the outer arena and find the inside shallows as their detachment locality.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Do not fear mistakes.  There are none." - Miles Davis

Defrosted and temp up to a heady 39F with full sunshine to keep the party rolling.  Light NE winds may pulse some warmer air our way as well.  Distracted NW windswell is what remains as the early search for slides resumes.  Disarming in its beauty, the day holds opportunity but makes no promises.

CHANNEL:  A little bit drained and unable to maintain a civilized countenance or smooth facade.  Steeper angled windswell needs more size and water to work with if it is going to create.  Inner sanctum rollers efforting along the Mali-Bo bars seem like the only option to consider.  Great works cannot be rushed and a better foundation may be in place during the PM hours of the day.

PATCH:  Teasers outside in the land of the stand tall paddle warrior.  Unbroken breakers recycle through to find inside shallows and revealed rocks.  A knee high right will breach with determination if not size.  Later day tides may lend more alternatives to the area.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count.  It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

Early morning muted sun revealing intricate artwork from Jack Frost.  Shivering cold as temps begin at 34 with highs hopeful to reach 50.  Still and motionless as the wind has blown to new places.  Dressed in layers upon layers armed with hot beverages and warm thoughts of the short work week.  Prioritize and strategize to-do's without compromise to maximize positive outcomes.

CHANNEL:  Slow motion without commotion as lake Bolinas is in full effect today.  Foot over big toe in size as the NW swell is no where to be found.  Zero wind with a glassy waters finish as three dogs are currently out swimming for tennis balls.

PATCH:  Mirror sky reflections on the oceans surface as birds of all feathers glide on top.  Rock formations peeking through making the perfect landing spot for migrating animals.  Arrange crystals in geometric patterns for recharging and cleansing.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." - John Muir

Clear blue sky with lemon yellow sun and arctic wind chill.   Temps starting the day at 43 and not forecasted to break 50.  Wind whipping by and freezing bones of those who walk to check.  Vapor trails ending spoken sentences while digging hands deeper in pockets searching for warmth.  As we honor our Forefather's today we ponder how they ever survived without Patagonia base-layers and car heaters.

CHANNEL:  Solid NW wind swell whipping through the Channel and Sea Drift side.  Off shore wind combating in-coming waves and blowing blinding spray out the back.  Knee size on sets and five fishermen out.  Watch for fishing lines while making your way out for prime position.

PATCH:  If you can read between the lines and understand the meaning of how it makes you feel on the inside, all will be answered and revealed.  Look to your knees for guidance.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to loose sight of the shore." - Andre Gide

Fluffy white puffs floating skyward with beaming yellow orange.  Early morning traffic moving in scoring prime parking spaces while keeping fingers crossed the wind will keep at bay.  A chill 48 with breezy gusts running through hair and stinging eyes.  Greetings of morning sun salutations and positive vibes over coffee while changing into superhero suits hoping to be the one to bring home the gold.  As they say, the early bird catches the worm and the second mouse gets the cheese.

CHANNEL:  Moderate NW off-shore wind filling the open void as the NW swell has yet to make impact.  Ankle peelers coming through the Channel proper with a white spray finish.  Sea Drift side clocking in about knee with a ruffly texture.  Two paddle boarders currently out trying to find the sweet spot.

PATCH:  Micro-versions of wave like formations and textured surface with wind protection for now.  Keep focus and visualize the outcome.  Remember, you've trained for this moment.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If we are unduly absorbed in improving our lives we may forget altogether to live them." - Alan Watts

Blessings and salutations from above as the journey of another day begins.  Warmer at 42F and weak NE winds to initiate some warmth.  Layer early and reveal later.  New-ish WNW swell combo stimulating the juices and allowing for slides which have be relatively scarce in recent days.  A slight uptick is enough to activate ocean instincts and breakers are being enjoyed once again.

CHANNEL:  Moderated advancing tides joined by light offshore breezes have rollers sparkling brightly in the morning sun.  Generally concentrated in the deeper Channel arena, a peak that must be shared as options remain thin for now.  The Seadrift enclave has enough water and likes the swell direction just fine if you are up for the excursion.  Size still yearning for thigh high or better but enough to get longboards moving in the right direction and a beautiful day for February.

PATCH:  No mirage, your eyes do not deceive.  A breaking wave has been observed and ridden in the Patch.  Soft, sweet and seemingly absorbed in the moment.  Knee-cappers or better.  No stems or twigs to bind.  Bring the biggest board you own and hopefully it is over 9' long.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"If you fell down yesterday, stand up today." - H. G. Wells

We enter the year of the Dog with high hopes and expectations. The day begins with more natural beauty than actual surf.  Finally frosty with a shimmering crystal blanket on flat surfaces.  Clear and sunny with current temp 39F and only slight E winds for warmth.  A budding and building NW windswell is all that provides the emphasis for slides and stoke seekers.  Inner mantras say push forth and get wet as the sea washes all troubles away and lets you begin anew.

CHANNEL:  Early chasers using the incoming tide for extra impetus to realize rides.  Clean and smooth though lacking the real juice we jones for.  Sedated rather than elated with few options unless you ride the really big logs.  Breathtaking surroundings lend a positive aspect to the morning activities.

PATCH:  I'll send the softest waves with joy, and music sweet by breezes fanned.  For the rough sea of life, my boy, hath depths you cannot understand.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"No need to hurry.  No need to sparkle.  No need to be anybody but oneself." - Virginia Woolf

Cool and clear and brisk in the moment.  Under a veil of nothing but sunshine and light E winds we take measure of what lays ahead.  Those seeking respite from the maddening world find themselves at the ocean's edge contemplating the next steps.  Temp is 42F with the sea level and sheen-ed from above.  What gentle swells are in play are at present mostly under wraps with just hints and whispers of their existence.

CHANNEL:  Smoothed out with harsh winds and words lacking.  Filling tide looks to be overwhelming the energy present and keeping it perpetually soft and relatively unbroken.  Brilliantly lit and golden.  Perfect for a dip and swim.  Surf has potential based solely on buoy readings but the translation currently is more sit and wait than slide and ride.  Stay tuned for the outgoing tide to turn things around and invigorate the flow.

PATCH:  Small and steep S swell not accessible to our fair coastline.  The breakers that are observed may well reach ankle destinations but that is not the destiny hoped for today.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"I hope that real love and truth are stronger in the end than any evil or misfortune in the world." - Charles Dickens

Cold crisp wild blue yonder ushering in blazing yellow.  Windy cold at 45 degrees as trees groan and release foliage to the ground.  Popping cough drops like candy and refilling cups of hot tea before heading out to start the days cycle.  Clad in winter armor with hand-warmers as secret weapons, walking one step in front of the other.  Thinking warm thoughts to ease the wind and cold, remembering it's mind over matter.

CHANNEL:  Three words; mumbled, jumbled and messy.  WNW swell trying to move in, though has no chance against the off shore howling wind.  White-capped as far as the eye can see with spray blowing off the oceans surface.  No visible waves forming in the Channel or Sea Drift side due to high winds and lack of swell energy.  Currently no one out.

PATCH:  Windblown / windblon / adjective - carried or driven by the wind; "windblown sand." Exposed to or affected by the wind "the coastline is rugged and windblown."

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Butterflies and zebras And moonbeams and fairy tales That's all she ever thinks about Riding with the wind." - Jimmy Hendrix

A cold 45 chill with a breezy bite greets the sun to begin the day.  Morning commuters playing frogger with daredevil skunks as deer cheer and watch from the sidelines.  Gaggles of geese debating on direction overhead with much chatter.  The beginning of the week is upon us and many decisions and agendas are already set in stone.  Though sometimes, the best adventures are the one's we don't plan for.

CHANNEL:  NW wind swell making it's presence known this morning.  Tiny lumps rolling through in the shin high zone with white water spray off the back.  More fishing poles then water craft out this morning hoping for their daily catch.  Not too much hope for better conditions once tide recedes.

PATCH:  By squinting hard enough, maybe just maybe, a hint of line appears.  Looking at the water crossed eyed at high tide, is hard to do.  Play the waiting game, I know it's hard, though it may just pay off.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Remember, success is a journey not a destination.  Have faith in your ability.  You will do just fine." - Bruce Lee

Patchy clouds sprinkled in with blue sky and yellow sun.  Cooler temps this morning as 41 starts us off and topping out at 55 this afternoon.  Looks like Summer has come and gone for now.  Quiet noise with a light breeze and chirping birds of all feathers gather for breakfast.  Bring a jacket and dress in layers as you make your way to the waters edge.  Bundle up for the day and set your sights on nature.

CHANNEL:  NW swell easing way back with the tide.  Super small, ankle over toe rolling in over the Groin as 4 water crafts float for position.  Calm water flowing in and out of the Channel, creating tranquil and peaceful feelings.  Take a deep breath, pause for a moment and watch the seals swim.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Don't be pushed by your problems.  Be led by your dreams." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Chill neck tickles from NE breezes that provide warmth and seek to prime surf.  52F and clear skies signal another beautiful February day.  Combining forces are NW windswell typical of spring and redeeming S swell whose angle is now more consequential.   Tide has peaked earlier and now slowly depletes.  A bit less water not unwelcome today as stunted offerings performing better under less weight.

CHANNEL:  Spray tops from offshore winds though most breakers pushed over to Seadrift or beyond.  Petite peaks popping along with just enough shape to lure those looking.  Sitting in wait on the Channel bar sets, you may be duly rewarded with a waist high roller after a rather long layover period.

PATCH:  Currently the territory of flat water pursuits and paddleboard purists.  Only a short inside wave to keep the mind and body occupied while the heart yearns to attend the outside depths.  Less water may change this tune with the S swell on par to yield opportunities for all as it did yesterday.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can." - Nikos Kazantzakis

Sufficient tide now dropping, dropping and already a lessening can be observed and felt.  The devout share optimism paired with greater hope and rather than look, they suit up.  Skies fully invested with sun and no winds to tousle.  Temp at 48F and on the rise.  There is beauty at every turn even as the surf remains minimal.  Your true measure is shown by what you do in less than adequate circumstances.

CHANNEL:  Foamie frenzy on the inner bar regions secluded behind the Groin Wall.  Abbreviated rides of a condensed height.  Fun is where you find it and and how you make it today.

PATCH:  Steep steep S swell likely missing on its journey up the coast.  French toast, pancakes or crepes are the options with each one thinner and less fulfilling than the other.  Dig in and feast.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected." - Robert Frost

Muted morning vibes with many content to sit peacefully and watch the day unfold.  All chakras are open for receipt of swirling energy. Wisps of early fog vanished with the risen sun.  Though we start at 47F there are E winds pushing warm air our way.  A lessening of the NW swell means find it and get on it while the time and tides allow.

CHANNEL:  High bars and lowering tide making for a churned region of activity.  NW wind swell fading out and laying tracks for another pulse.  Knee knockers + when all factors find proper alignment.  The edges have a more even outlook though size drops down a notch.

PATCH:  Bathed in sun and flush with open spaces.  Less swell than even allocated in the Channel means bigger boards are better.  The infrequent apparition visiting shows diminutive amounts of calf high concoctions.  Ride from your knees or better yet belly and size relevancy grows accordingly.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Change is the law of life.  And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future." - John F. Kennedy

Morning turkey commuters crossing the road leaving cows wondering why?  Blinding sunshine leading the way to open foggy valleys on twisting roads.  A warm 57 with winds blowing leaves and branches in streets.  Open parking and a sense of calm once the ocean can be heard from afar.  Take a deep breath, a long pause and enjoy the moment.

CHANNEL:  NW wind swell making its way through and over the Channel.  Slow and crumbly on the sets in the knee range as water sprays backwards from the wind.  Low in energy and slow to form, staying in position is key to score.  Currently two paddling to stay in the sweet spot.

PATCH:  Protected lines rolling in left and right.  Slow rolling formations lacking energy to fully perform to high standards.  Some are standing, some are laying down and all are trying to find the one to shore.

Inspirational Quote of the Day:
"Life has no limitations, except the ones you make." - Les Brown

Bird cluster singing troupes with wood peckers feeling the base.  Bright yellow and orange beams through trees and amazing blue hues above.  Contemplating who was better, Pink and Justin, Peter and Morgan or Martha and Jack while deciding whether or not to call in "sick" for surf.  Try asking Alexa for the answer, you never know who might answer.

CHANNEL:  Already 55 and gorgeous as the new WNW swell is slow coming around.  One peak in the Channel center hitting right and left in the thigh range.  4 crew members out, calling plays and formations.  Team work makes the dream work as sleds in different size win the prize.

PATCH:  Stand up teams in full force and in prime position, while 5 are laying low on the inside setting up for the wrap around energy to come.  Slow and steady wins the race no matter if you decide to journey right or left.  As the tide changes, the playing field widens and all can play this afternoon.
